If Asriel kept to the plan but refused to let Chara enjoy her vengeance… Asriel only collected Six Human Souls…but Chara would want to get greedy, desiring more power.
Asriel would have to face the greedy Soul within himself, reminding her of their friendship and the love for their people.
Asriel would need to remind Chara of the noble reason behind their plan calmed down as she would try to cease control. If Asriel manages to convince Chara, he can prevent her from becoming worse than the humanity that she hates. His pure Soul would need to reach her like it never has before!
He’s the only one who can do it. He must become the true hero. Otherwise, another war will be inevitable.

If this was an original UT fight against genocide asriel i think this could be the situation
