I love seeing a kit being used in the field. I keep telling my wife I need to spend a night with grab and go bag. Probably a long night …

I enjoy watching several of people like yourself and what they put in their kits. Most are much the same. The thing is there are differences that make sense. Also reference the knife, my wife visited Sweden to see a friend. She brought a mora back. A companion. Love that knife. Just recently I got a companion HD in hunters orange. !s soon as I held the knife felt like it was made for me. Thanks for the video looking forward to the next.

I did some training with Mors Kochanski, he was a great guy. At the time I had a Buck Vanguard, and he took it from me, looked it over and said "Let's grind off the finger guard, and you've got yourself a good bush knife"... He later handed me a Mora knife and said I could have his extra one, which I have to this day. Last year I bought an OKC RAT-5, wish I'd bought a RAT-7 though. That's the sort of bush knife I like, in addition to a Mora, etc.

I made mine with the Path Finder one quart bush pot and put some of the larger items around the outside of the pot in the bag that holds everything together. It makes for a compact grab and go package that I keep in my car. I am really glad you brought this concept back to life. I think Mors would be proud!😊

Great video I use a 2 qaurt pot i train and test different ideas and products then I'll go camping i even did a few lost survival training i went out with a couple of buddies of mine and we would get lost a have to survive 3 days until our buddies came out looking for us it was fun a suggestion find a good shoulders strap add clips to the ends and clip it onto the handle that way you can carry it

He had a large coffee pot! His concept was the same but it was a bit ridiculous he had to jam a jacket into the top of the thing.😊

Good video / concept that I have used for regular camping for decades .... if you want to know that a concept works , GO USE IT ! Only differance that I did for a weekend would have a wool blanket , an old cotton flat sheet , an old shower curtain for a ground cloth , a poncho which was also my shelter , 1cup biscuit mix , 1 cup corn meal , 1 cup sugar , 1 cup rice , plus what you had , also a coughlan tea light candle lantern .
The feeling of going into the forest for a weekend with only that was exciting , a feeling of freedom that is unlike any other , fishing , foraging ....
I would roll most into the bedroll and tie it with a 3/8 rope ( that I used for my shelter) then tied the pot to that with a canteen , grab my hiking staff and hat and go .
    Try it !

Thanks for taking the time to make this comes very close to what I watched More assemble. I agree about the need for a folding saw, tho that doesn't preclude still having the bowsaw blade as well

    Great pot hanger idea 👍
You gave me another thought (expedient)...
Small live trash sapling still in the ground. Bend it over the fire and tie it down with one cord to the ground. Hang the pot from that. If there's a Y branch, great. Otherwise use a hook system on the pot.

Nice to see the kit at work. Like you I prefer a foldable saw. I use silky but why I do not understand is why nobody carry an extra blade for the saw. I purchased one for the silky, 25$ and at 1.4 ounces (40grams) it is light and totally worth it because the Silky blade is thin and in case of an emergency my life may depend on the saw and my ability to make lasting fire.
On the Mora..I’m using the Heavyduty version, short but sturdy.

Fire is not always possible in our super-humid, tropical environment. We pack some great DIY firestarters in all of the family's kits. Water is always a top priority and fire is our preferred means to pasteurize. We recognize that the youngest family members may not be able to create fire during a typhoon. The solution for us was to include a few small items in addition to the unbleached cotton bandanas we made to double as pre-filters. We also include several large brown paper, (un-bleached) coffee filters as a secondary filter and a strip of water purification tables. The tablets are available in dosages that will treat one (1) liter up to a tablet that will treat twenty (20) liters of the water that has been prefiltered. There is a lot of potential benefit for the small amount of added weight. Chlorine bleach in a small brown glass bottle with an eye dropper on the side would also work. However, the tablets weigh less and will not leak.
