I'll say it's dependent. They're very aggressive and would attack even a simple observer. Took me a while to get the shot of them grooming the smaller Izuchis cuz they kept attacking me
Great izuchi already become my favourite beignner using smaller izuchi fight along side him properly then all of raptor like bird wyvern in every mh and he know how make an entrance in cutscene
This is the most coordinated group in the entire series as far as I'm aware, most other Raptor Bird Wyverns just help the Drome/Great but never full coordinate with them
Katamaitachi. Sickle Weasels. They come in pairs of 3's, generally siblings. The first rides the wind to disorient their target, the second uses it's claws, the third cleans or heals the wound. They are Yokai created to help define cutting wind. In lore they generally try not to hurt people, but there are always crazed examples.
The most common trait of the pack leaders is that they tend to be the alpha male of the pack with the smaller members being either females or beta males. This is the case with Great Jaggi, Royal Ludroth, Great Wroggi, and possibly Great Jagras among others. Great Izuchi has several similarities with the Kamaitachi (translated as "sickle weasel"). Kamaitachi have long, sharp claws, travel in packs of three, and move with the wind to slice up prey before they can even react. One theory is that small, sharpened rocks carried by strong gusts of wind were responsible for people receiving cuts when no blade could be seen, especially those with dry skin. One of Great Izuchi's moves has it vomit out a mass of saliva and hair clumps that resemble stones, possibly alluding to the debunking theory. Hunting tip: you don't get Great Izuchi Tails from carving, but you can get them from captures. Break the tail and capture it for the best chance at getting those tails.
Yknow, raptor bird wyverns are always the weakness (metaphorically and literally) of new monsters but Izuchi are definitely a step up. Still probably the worst new addition of the new monsters, but that says more about the new monsters being awesome than anything. Goss Harag is best.
Compared to the Wroggi and Baggi packs that we see in Rise, the Izuchi pack are definitely the most refined especially considering how they coordinate extremely well during combat
@@ChronoPinoyX Definitely feels like they finally tightened up on their weaker classes of monsters. Great Izuchi is the step up on raptor bird wyverns and Goss Harag is a vast improvement for bear types. All in all, a grand collection of new monsters.
@@ChronoPinoyX I guess? 2 small ones folow big one like a shadows. But rest does nothing. TBH I think there should be 2 mimicing leaders attacks, and rest should behave like Shamos'es did in world. Kadaki's little spiders are way more problematic than these 2.
@@namegoeshere5220 Noone liked Great Macco? :p For me it is still best "crap" monster. First monster to fight in wyvern class and already has spring jump that slaps for a lot. Teaches you how its going to be in Gen.

If the great Izuchi works like say, the great Jaggi there is a chance that he's a large male with a harem. The two Izuchis following him might just be his strongest youngs
This theory could hold weight depending on how close the relations are between the Great and the smaller Izuchi. Hopefully we can get more information on those in future!
@ChronoPinoyX I found out from MilkySlim that it’s based off of the Kamaitachi from Japanese myth which Sneasel, Weavile, And Sneasler are also based off of and they use Icy Wind instead of Razor Wind which sucks, The Great Izuchi is also based off of the Kuchisake-Onna because of its mouth. He also told a creepy story about her and there was an urban legend about the Kuchisake-onna from the Edo period, To the 1970s.
My headcanon for the great izuchi is that the two izuchi following him are his preferred females, while the other izuchis are just male and female izuchis living in the area. This kind of behavior can often be seen in many animals who live in harems like chickens, geese and gorillas.
Not wise. They hunt dangerous pray, even fight. Alfa male would not risk life of fertile famales (the best ones) in his pack. Remeber that famale must live, not male. Male just have to deliver his sperm and he can kick the bucket, like in many other cases (spiders and such). So Male would always protect famales, mothers of his babies. Its benefical for him even to die if they are pregnant.
This is cool, most of them were great but I think that 4 was a bit off as item descriptions should be taken with a grain of salt as some times they can simply not make any sense if taken litterely, especially in rise where most of the monsters are based off of myths, though I dont think all item descriptions should be ignore I just think that they shouldn't be interpreted as word for word, as great izuchi's tail could simply be so sharp that people think its sharpened by the very air itself but in reality its just that sharp, though I am heavily critical of item descriptions and how Canon some of the more outstanding ones are i think that some can help make for great theories about the monsters especially in rise with the apex monsters as we don't quite know how they come to be and all we have is the monsters behavior, the unique item descriptions and the hunter notes about what makes them different from there non apex variants
yea, Kama Itachi is a wind yokai, so I think its more wink to a lore of yokai than a monster. But if it was a straight blade, I guess Izuchi could sandblast his tail, but curved blade is 2 complex to do without tools.
The series in and of itself always acknowledges the description of items as being true to how they work. This is Capcom's usual way of providing basic documentation to monsters in the series without having the large Lore Books being needed. The inspiration plays part on the monster abilities so a Great Izuchi using winds for honing its tail wouldn't be a stretch as it maintains relative sharpness even when we part break it. The only game that never used items for basic lore because the item descriptions are basic is World: Iceborne. Rise simply returned to their original formula for item descriptions. Hope that clears that part!
Honestly he's one of my new favorite monsters. He practiced his dance moves the bois.
Even newer backup dancers got that tight choreography with Great Izuchi if the first two get taken down.
Lol
This monster quickly became my favorite raptorial bird wyvern of the entire series
Awesome to hear!
Its pretty hard to like him that much, no his own track like Great macco had. And he falls in minutes, mostly just lies on the ground...

Great Izuchi is my favorite Raptor Bird Wyvern.
He really fight as a coordinated pack, instead of just swarm you with number.
I always try to capture Great Izuchi because I feel bad killing it. He’s just trying to look out for his family!
I do the same
I didn't but, damn if I don't feel a bit bad now.
It's definitely a lot closer to its pack compared to most raptorial Bird Wyverns!
I don’t he’s the reason why Great jaggi isn’t in the game lol
Yep then he gets skinned alive to make your armor

This was wonderful! I had no idea the Great Izuchi and the pack had so much character! I love the bond they share
Great izuchi is the best alpha bird wyvern because good leader take care it own two izuchi
A turf war of Great Izuchi vs Great Jagras would be nice.
Would be interesting to see how that interaction goes! Hopefully we see Great Jagras at some point in future
That won't be a turf war, it'll be a gang war
