  • When I was filming this video I started off with the intention of going snorkeling in popular spots on Rottnest Island, like Little Salmon Bay but ended up exploring some lesser known locations. Hey that's what adventure is all about.

I just want to add that during this video I mention biodiversity hotspots. I stated that there were 25 in the world. That was a true statement based on what I learnt at university 12 years ago but I looked it up when I got back home and that number has now increased to 36 which if fantastic for our natural world. Just thought I would clarify that for everyone.

The cave with the lobster was just before Little Salmon Bay. I just looked on google earth and I'm pretty sure you can see where it is. Its not marked but I'll try explain. Go to google earth and type in Jeannies Lookout Rottnest Island and you will see a very pointy triangular shaped land formation. Look out into the ocean and you will see a limestone structure sticking out of the water that kinda looks like the head of a golf club. How am I doing so far 🤣. Once you find those 2 structures draw an imaginary line from the narrow neck of the golf club and another from the point of the triangle and where the 2 lines cross is pretty close. Now you should be able to see a swimming pool size dark blue patch in the reef. To the left of that is a tiny faint blue spot on the dark chocolate coloured reef. I'm pretty sure that is the cave. It is a small cave with a total depth of about 3 to 4m but I thought it was pretty cool I hope that helped. You know what mate I'll make a reel just for you today and place it on my Instagram to show the area and spot where I think it is. My IG is intrepid world and the profile pick is the same one as UA-cam with me and my dingo.

@@intrepidworld hahaha thanks for the extremely detailed reply and the golf club description was perfect, actually looks like an iron 😂
I kind of think that I may have found where you are referring to but not entirely sure. I'll pop over to instagram like you said and have a look.
Awesome footage mate, you've done a great job. I'm heading over with the family in October and would love to be able to look inside some small caves like that without the need to get out deep and run scuba.
Thanks for your help, I've liked and subscribed :)

Ok mate I've made the short reel and put it on my Instagram account but I have also loaded it up to my UA-cam shorts if that is easier for you. Have a look and see what you think. I hope that helps to clarify my previous instructions, enjoy your trip over to Rotto 👍
