A marvellous film with beautiful lighting and spectacular sounds. Something to show my grandsons and -daughters: Belgium mothballed all its steam traction and put the locs to sleep in the National Railway Museum in Brussels. Thank you very much, and please keep up the good work!
Entry of the Evening Star at 2:46 and her gait are feast to watch. that music syncs with heartbeat. But 60163 is absolutely a tornado. She lifts the trophy. What an entry and what a speed! - Great capture. Great compilation. Thank you so much for sharing.
Nothing like the "chuff", "chuff" of a steam locomotive when the fireman has the fire tuned perfectly. That's a beautifully restored engine. And fly it can!
My late father was a signalman for 35 years,on the main line Glasgow/London. Primarily working between Shap,Tebay and Penrith in what at that time was Westmorland. Later we moved to West Cumbria where he worked on the Carlisle to Barrow in Furness line between Maryport and Whitehaven. Also working the Workington to Penrith branch line through Keswick to Threlkeld. Wonderful video, though a different region, memories came flooding back, thank you for the upload. Brian.
Thankyou so much for posting these amazing videos! They are hugely popular with some of the autistic people we support at our small day centre! They look even better when used on a projector screen in the sensory room. 🚂
A very fine film bringing steam and countryside together in early season watercolours. Marvellous result of much terrain recce to find the best camera locations. Adorable!
Very attractive presentation , remembering my childhood steam engine train journey was very interesting and my grandfather used to say " Chhuk chhuk gadi " 😁😁😂😂🤩🤩🤣🤣🤗🤗
I am happy the flying scotsman returned to her full power.. After all she went through she deserves some light after all these years. Great footage of this amazing things humanity have created. Keep up the amazing work :D
I think the Flying Scotsman should have been converted to electric with batteries in the tender and a smoke machine in the chimney - save all that messing around with steam! ;) :D
Thank you so much for providing such a wonderful window into UK steam activities through 2016. The cinematography is superb, something other youtube suppliers could take notice of, please use a tripod when filming. I wish we had people such as yourself here in Australia providing quality video of our local rail action.
Not normally a big fan of these end of year review videos but this was a delight to watch. Every clip was of a high quality and no filler shots to increase the view time. Brilliant to see and can't wait to see what you will produce next year :-)
Jsem velkým obdivovatelem českých parních lokomotiv a těch,kteří dávají na UA-cam skvělá videa(hlavně pan Schön).A proto musím vyjádřit obdiv nad tímto nádherným videem.Je to úžasná podívaná!
I love the sound of a train. It carries a haunting sound of moving into the abyss of space with no time yet time will change your course. I was a little girl, maybe three, when my life changed profoundly as I boarded the stairs and moved far away. I had no idea at the time that the train whistle would be forever etched into my life as a symbol of the family that disappeared from me. This mystical sound will be a huge part of my upcoming film, "Eugenea's Story." I can't wait to see it on screen.
Excellent film. I especially enjoyed the landscape scenes. Superb choice of points of views. Please keep up your excellent work. Take care and keep well. :-)
Great stuff, masterfully done. Makes me feel as if I was trackside watching the show, across that beautiful landscape and scenery! Easy to see why I didn't hesitate to subscribe to your channel!
also, while it would add time into editing, I would suggest sectioning locomotive types in future videos. Express engines following Express engines and shunters following shunters, etc. thoughts?
I used use the Chicago & Northwestern when I rode to Ishpeming, Michigan in the upper peninsula - we were called "yoopers" We do have a few preserved steam engines.
fantastic quality and great filming as always, a compilation I look forward to every year. loving the additional little touches of subtle locations dates and locos being listed on each clip.
I have to hand it to the folks in the U.K.. They have an impressive array of preserved steam power that the U.S. can only dream of. I wish I could come over and volunteer on it, but odds are they'll turn down my services
The interesting thing is how smooth the trains run over the track. I'm sure it's over modern welded rail. In America, most steam locomotives run on vintage rail held together with fishplates and on questionable roadbed. There is usually a lot of sway noticeable as the train make a run by.
What's with the giant flash fire at 1:40:23 when engine went under overpass? Hope engineers didn't get an impromptu haircut. :) In any case, beautiful trains and sights. Can't wait to visit England!
I will visit UK in august 2018... and I have a question, what is the best steam trip to visit in somerset: West Somerset Railway, Swanage Railway `The Purbeck Line' or Dartmouth Steam Railway and River Boat Company. Im from Argentina, and my family and me, will stay in Weymouth 4 days. Thank a lot for a answer. Sorry about my bad english

I swear, some of these are kicking up memories back when I was still watching Thomas the Tank Engine as a toddler!

Brilliant No music, no one Wittering on Just beautiful sounds and images of steam trains Bravo! Long may it continue!
Ditto, ditto. I second every word!! Just the sounds of trains. Yesss!
Why do so many great train videos have such a large # of dislikes? Is it a joke of some sort?

Gone are those days! but not forgotten, thanks to you for these videos!!
Very pleasurable to watch this old steam engine going across country !!!!
Beautiful video. The landscape, the coloring coupled with the white steam and black train make for an enjoyable viewing! Thank You!!
I've seen this 3 times and its still a good watch.
Thanks! Glad you enjoy it :)
Great video. No raucous background "music". Who needs it when he sounds of these beautiful trains is music itself.
I TOTALLY agree! We seem to be utterly obsessed with "music" these days. It's everywhere.
My trsin spottter days are long gone. This brings back memories.
Excellent as always.
Thanks!
your dedication and effort is appreciated. many hours of enjoyment. respect.
Superb footage and locations. Quite the best quality video I have seen for a long time. Many thanks.

Great to hear a steam train again after so many years . How i would have loved to be riding on it.
wow, one of the best acceleration sounds . there at 1:49, need that for my ring tone. fantastic.

beautiful
LOVE IT!!! ESPECIALLY THE TOOT TOOTS!! JUST MAKES MY DAY!!!
Two things I want to see in the future: Tornado and Scotsman double heading, and a P2/A4 double header when the P2 is complete.
also, while it would add time into editing, I would suggest sectioning locomotive types in future videos. Express engines following Express engines and shunters following shunters, etc. thoughts?
Goddamn steam trains have to be some of the most beautiful human creations ever

Kevin they would be most pleased to have you.
It would be cool to roll around and the scenery in a loco.
Absolutely brilliant video! Looking forward to more great footage from you in 2017.
I wonder if the Scotsman and the Tornado have ever pulled a double header together. That would be a spectacle.
joshua forbess that would be AWESOME!!!
Some nice shots there .... Well done ....
lovely to watch the steam trains.Drivers today have a easy life. Murdo.
Brilliant
10:52 so THAT's where Duck and Oliver went all these years.
Ojalá nunca se terminen los trenes a vapor, viajar en tren es algo inexplicable
я прожил 56 лет я понять не могу почему мне это нравится
Nice video
Some steam engines have been preserved in America but they are difficult to find online.
Esto de los trenes, es hermoso,más hermoso es conservar, pero llegó un mal hechor un maldito traidor y lo acabó con todo,en mi LINDO Ecuador
It.s nice vidéo iam SNTF from algeria
Muito bonito, é uma pena que o Brasil não valorize este transporte e por isso, várias pessoas morrem nas rodovias acidentadas.
tres bonne video
Great Video Footage :)
2841 thumbs down? I would really like to know why!
Majestic 👍👍👍👍☺😊😘
Very very nice. The machine of the minut 7 is beautiful and the minut 19:20 too.
lovely
Steam engines are classic
Question, why do you all stick a dirty box on the back of these beautiful steam locomotives.
The interesting thing is how smooth the trains run over the track. I'm sure it's over modern welded rail. In America, most steam locomotives run on vintage rail held together with fishplates and on questionable roadbed. There is usually a lot of sway noticeable as the train make a run by.
Jonathan Stettler I believe most preserved railways over here have fishplates

I'd liked the way the engine started.
