I moved here in 2011 with a suitcase and $60 bucks. Lived with a friend and grinded like hell to find a job and in a month started my first job at lil caesars. 7 years later of working hard and I have a home, cars and beautiful family. Home is where u lay your head. My grandmother use to say "can't died a long time ago" meaning you can do anything you want, you just have to apply yourself.
Everything you mentioned is easily obtainable except the family. The fact you have married and started a family shows a level of togetherness and maturity and that's the real impressive part. .Especially given the fact so many men in Atlanta don't feel the need to 'settle down' when there are so many women there.

I'm from the Bama/ga line and I moved to the metro area. People were like its crazy up there. I'm like more people more problems. I put in for jobs, got a interview, put in my two weeks notice with the old job, moved with my uncle for 2 months. Still have my brand new car I had before I got here and moved to a good area and making more! If you have a plan just trust the process. Watch your surroundings and make associates and not friends. Only people I have talked to are some of my people that already lives here. No time for frienemies.

I'm always curious who these videos are made for. Atlanta is cheap as friggin hell, especially coming from NYC. Don't seem rougher than Brooklyn. These videos may be for younger folks. The only reason I thought about moving to Atlanta was to get a better bang for the buck with a nice looking house. To buy a decent house in NYC is 1Mil and up. In Atlanta, you can get a lovely house for 300-500K for your family...and you don't have to shovel much snow lol. The issue before moving is figuring out the best school zones for your kids because I heard the school system is not the best. If you can survive in NYC or any city like it, you can survive in the A.

For a career professional - who’s mature and has their money in order, you can move and adjust in no time. My cousin relocated to Atlanta after Katrina (She’s a nurse and instructor) and got on her feet in no time. Bought a crib; had multiple job offers and did the thing! She’s been there since 2006. Not really true. Some places have excellent job markets and a person can leave a place struggling and find not one but two jobs in another place which has a better job market and do significantly better.

I said this in 1999 when I left ATL. I moved there in 1990 when I saw a BET special, when I got there in June of 1990, you could get fired from a job at 9am and have a new job by 2pm. I was working two jobs and doing stand-up comedy. I met more people from my hometown than I did from ATL. I interviewed and hired the first employees for the Georgia Dome. I left in 1999, went back in 2006 - and I did not recognize the city.
I went to college in Atlanta and graduated. I recently went back after several years away and I too did not recognize the city. It's way too thugged out. I never noticed how ghetto Atlanta was before. Not sure why. But I sure noticed when I visited in 2018.
I agree with what you say. I live in Marietta about a mile from the new Braves stadium at Suntrust Park and it’s beautiful here. I graduated from Marietta High School. My kids were born at Northside Hospital. There is a lot to do here. I left for a little bit due to my husband spending some time in the military but he’s medically retired now and we came back home. He’s a critical care nurse at Grady and I’m a graphic designer and web developer. If you are in the medical field there is an abundance of jobs here. If you’re IT then you’re set as well. You do have to have a plan before coming here or you won’t be successful. If you have a plan, money saved and housing lined up then you should be OK. We’re an upper middle class family that lives in a neighborhood that’s 90% black in Cobb County of all places. The traffic is horrible but I know all of the back roads and know how to get around it LMBO! I refuse to sit in that mess! I’m not surrounded by a lot of the negative things that people say about Atlanta so I guess I’m fortunate and blessed. I never see it so my outlook is different. This is my home and I love it!

Atlanta is designed for business people and who want to build and evolve. It is not for factory workers or no skilled people. Gays are everywhere and they are people too and have just as much right to live wherever the hell they please. They have never been the issue, they are in their own world and straight people are in theirs. Traffic can be horrific at times, but you have the option of telecommuting if you are a professional or business person. I love the outskirts don't care for the inner city much except for entertainment and to party. I moved back to PA and love it, but I will be moving back to the ATL in the immediate future because I always experience massive success in business. @ 19 I moved to Atlanta from N.Y. with only $500 to my name. My first few hours there I got a job @ McDonald's. I slept in my car for 5 months. Went to work every day saved money. Eventually got an apartment. And not in a great neighbor either. enrolled in school. Earned my Bachelor's degree Computer Science. I'm 25 now and live in Cali but I loved every minute of my time in ATL. I love ATL for allowing me to apply that N.Y. hustle. Starting from nothing grind to build something.

When GM closed I took a job at Georgia Power. The key is planning and education. I noticed you passed some clubs near Georgia Tech. Loved it! Returned to the D to care for my mom. The game is training, education, or special skills. America won't tell you that. Wednesday wind down at centennial Olympic park brings out all the qualified cuties. Damn I miss it.

coming from making $9 in high school to $15 in college... $15 an hour on a full-time job is a little over 30,000 a year so if that being the minimum wage living in the state where the price of living is low you can do well with that I'm just saying you make it seem like $15 won't help anybody but I've made it and I went to school and I'm telling you it doesn't make a difference
Idk I love in south Florida and make $6 and hour + tips because that's the only job that hired me and still they hired me because I knew someone who works there , so I guess when you compare minimum wage of $8 and $15 an hour it does make a big difference but at the same time you're kinda right too
Dr. Jé I have a friend in Seattle and she told me the companies out in that area refuse to give you more than 20 hours a week because minimum wage is 15.00. Is that true? I've lived in Boston all my life and let me tell you it's a struggle. I've made well over 18 bucks an hour at some of my jobs but the cost of living is so high its more like 9bucks once I'm done paying rent(1100), car insurance (255) and other living expenses. Can't park at the same meter for more than two hours(40 ticket) not even on the same street. In some cities they have so many ways of dipping into your pockets it's not the big bills that get but the unexpected ones they hit you with. Taxes, violations, random cost increase.
I'm an old chick, and I lived in Atlanta "back in the day" 80s, and I'm a lesbian, and there were just as many gay people there then as now, they were just in the closet because of dangerous people who hate. Common sense would dictate that if you have money you can be successful anywhere. Also, you don't even really need money to be a success, for if you're willing to work hard you'll get yours anywhere in the world, just as you said. I wish I watched this before I moved here. Things are working out for me because I'm making the best of it but I could of did this at Home. I am staying with my cousin and things didn't happen the way I expected. I came because I just graduated college and a few friend recommended that I come here for jobs and opportunities. When I came to Atlanta an internship that I worked hard for called me to come back home and I felt so defeated because I feel like I came down here to do something that I could of done at home. The people I have met here are encouraging me to stay but I am praying on it. Here I realized that everywhere you go there will be obstacles. People from back home in NY feel like I am going to live this amazing life down here but I wish that they would realize that they could do the same thing back home.
Raven Satterfield I can relate. I came here thinking and hoping some big opportunities would come. I'm from Baltimore. I myself could've done this in Baltimore and actually would've been better off. I started out here underpaid only to get a decent paying job (Amazon), that ended up terminating me because of what the warehouse was doing wrong. I am now struggling and people/family here keep saying stick it out. It's been over a year.. Oh, and I've been rear ended and my car was hit and the guy sped off..also had my car damaged by a hole in the road. I'm over it all and I am moving back home. This man is preaching. Before I moved to Atlanta, I had an extensive plan. From information about various areas to live in, looking through tons of Google searches for apartment reviews to deciding what direction I wanted my career to go and what salary would allow me to live comfortably. I would even watch AJC news on my phone just so I would be informed. It was a long time coming, and once I graduated with my bachelors, there was no turning back.
My motivation was leaving South Carolina because the city I lived in only have about 3,000 residents. Life was too slow, and there was minimal opportunity to grow yourself or your career in a particular industry.

I say, don't even think about moving withouth $200,000. You can buy a home with that sort of money, nice enough, and have about 6 months of living expenses while you try to find work ... unless you go into a MORTAGE, and your paying monthly. Then you may still have some cash to spread it out longer. With me, I don't like ATL anymore. I'ts changed. But, I OWN my house on the East Side. No bank can come knocking on my door. And its newly renovated from top to bottom. So, I can sell this Florida home for about $250,000 and move back to ATL, live in a two story home with ZERO mortgage. I can work at HomeDepot or something simple and STILL be fine. My only expenses would be utilities and food. Tried for years to convince my wife for us to go back to ATL so we wont be on a mortage. 9 years later, she's starting to understand. But how far along could we have been if we never even lived here, on this mortgage from Hell? Mortages are from HELL. I don't care who you are or how rich you are, mortages are a money pot! Banks pocket YOUR money for about as much as the house cost! Nah. If you have a stable and good family, or helpful parents, its better to borrow from FAMILY and pay back with no interest than borrowing from banks. Loans from banks are financial SLAVERY. ... so is insurance. How many money do you pay for home insurance and you've NEVER made a claim? Some of you for over 40 years, and NEVER made a claim. Bout to die and all you did was given out $$$ for "security" ... and then the crooks will try to withhold anyway? Tha'ts madness. It's better to put money in the bank in an emergency fund than to pay insurance. At least you can draw THAT money out and none can deny it. Loans and home insurance. Financial slavery.

I think this video is the best so far. If you are coming to party only then you need a job and jobs are hard to come by, especially if you don't have a career or needed skill. Most people that live in Atlanta that are living well are educated, some of them have multiple degrees and PhD's. If your skill level is low, then you are not going to get paid real money. These are the things to think about. Now if you want to go to school and get a college education here, then that might be a good idea, so you can compete for a good job. If you come here to do nothing, then you will fail here. Atlanta is good for some things like education, and cheap housing. Don't look at the reality shows and think that's whats going on. Half of what you see on those shows are not real and they are not all living large. The show is helping them make money, but they were struggling before the show. I currently live in Texas and it's getting expensive and some people are nice and some are funny when it comes to hiring certain people. My sister already moved back to Atlanta, because its more affordable for housing. She is an RN, but in Texas housing was going up every 6 months to a year and she couldn't afford a decent house, but Georgia is still reasonable. I guess one needs to have their priorities straight and be realistic when moving to Atlanta. It can work for you if you make the right moves.
However over the next 10 years it is estimated to increase in population by 2 million people. The cost of living wont be cheap much longer. My rent went up 500 dollars in one year in Atlanta. Its really getting crowded and more expensive.
You can have a plan and that still doesn't guarantee that you're experience will go as expected. How often do plans change?Be realistic. You take a chance wherever you move. You don't know if you're going to like a place until you live there. Experiences may differ depending on the person and their experience... so its subjective and will naturally depend on who you ask and their own experience. I do agree that you should do your research on any place you plan to move to before you up and just move there.
Love it seem very authentic I'm moving from Wisconsin to start a cleaning business in Atlanta I don't see a lot of cleaning businesses there and if there are they are not thriving was going to just pick up and leave but decided to stay and save money to move there glad I chose to stay home until I saved up peace and love thanks for the video
That was some REAL shit. I spent. 13 years there in two seperate trips and FAILED both times. The reason why I failed was what you touched on. High expectations and no plan. I had some success, but couldn't maintain it because in the ATL you have "Gatekeepers" who make sure you have to be a part of a crew (frat, sorority, brotherhood/freemasons) to take steps snd get into the major opportunities. Like you bro, that wasn't me and while its like that everywhere, its in Atlanta that its to the extreme. It's crabs in a barrel times 100. Everone wants to "blow up" or be a big shot. In every city, you have to have people who do simple jobs and live humble, but when you have folks who love to live like Hollywood, thats what you're gonna get. The lesson I learned was, be happy where you are. Find who you are and where you are will be the place you end up. I went back home to Baltimore, and this city wants to be like the ATL. It lost its blue collar edge like Atlanta did in the early 90's when I first moved there. Its just people morphing into superficial people with unreasonable expectations who fail and talk shit. Hello, I was saying the same thing to myself we need a plan before we just jump and make this major decision. I and my fiance plans to move to Atlanta from Baltimore for better opportunities. I love to travel and been there before, but never stayed long enough to network. I'm in the health care field, plus a baker&cooks lol love me some cupcakes and just to express my talent else where is my goal, I have my plan in process just waiting to take that leap. I don't really worry much about what I see on tv even though it be interesting but it's still not reality. The cost of living is better, college I take online so no problem there, and I have no kiddies.
I feel you need to have God, a plan, savings and determination to succeed. it's not going to be easy and tou will have some road blocks but with the Lord's help you can succeed.

You have to pay for all of your supplies, and sometimes you are called upon to lie to people to earn the best commission and you don't really work indepen-dently. goofybrownmom I'm a newly licensed agent in PA. Yes, you have a few fees but, those fees cover you for the year. My broker doesn't even make you pay upfront, most are done in increments. I think there's 1 fee that has to be paid in full but it's manageable. I chose my broker based on my split. I feel that people who have negatives to say about the business didn't take these into consideration. Real Estate is a great, great avenue for financial freedom. It's so much more than sales! You can do a lot of things with that license, branch out in the real estate game; be encouraged!! 🏡🏘🏢
Im in DC and I can tell you the job situation is tight. There are alot of jobs here but there are more people in need of jobs than there are available. Baltimore is 40 min. away and deep in poverty. Most of them folk in Atl migrated there in the 90's when it was cool to relocate there....but like the brother said the population is over the top and they have turned into any other major city. Over populated!!
I do that commute from Bmore to DC every day. There is work in both cities but a lot of people don't want to work. Some even have the nerve to be picky about work. I have been doing it since '99 and I'm good.
Too many watching all these reality shows bout Atlanta. Thinking it will happen for them too. But you don't see what's really going on in ATL. I used to come to Atl alot because I have family and friends there. But I knows not place for me or raised a family there.

I'm thinking of moving there, but the outskirts. I plan to live and work in the same city. I'm getting my masters first. N only applying for things I easily qualify for that's a step up from my current position. I have to line up something 4.00 or more per hour before skating out of here.
I know that it seems to be the flavor of the month to hate on moving to Atlanta, but it has been a pretty good experience for me both times that I have done it. I first fell in love with the city when I moved here as a college student at Emory, and even though I moved to California for law school, I always intended to move back here to set up my practice before life led me to settle in Birmingham instead. Then I underwent a relocation here for the second time when my family was forced to move to Atlanta during a company restructure, and all I can say is that it was a good move for us when my husband's company transferred us here and the relocation company helped us get settled in Dunwoody. My husband, kids and I currently have a great life in our home here in Dunwoody where we enjoy a sense of community mixed with the advantages of metropolitan living, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I do have to admit though that we spend most of our time in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Alpharetta, and Buckhead and we rarely venture any further outward given that we can find everything that we need and most things that we want to do in those areas so that might have something to do with it.

Eventually, I moved away for a job, twice. Each time I left Atlanta I came right back. For me, Atlanta taught me about myself and my people. So many damn people from Gary, IN have moved to Atlanta. Also, you’re right, these people are usually broken and down on their luck. There is like this whole fairytale surrounding Atlanta, almost like it’s this holy land for AA. So many girls I know who move to ATL come back to Indiana and usually with a new mouth to feed. I like to visit you peaches. Beautiful city and I do love that the history runs deep there. However, I love it here in Chicago just a little...LOT more. I’m fortunate to live in Downtown Chicago and not where the gangs are. But there are a lot of carjackings here.
I visited Atlanta today and ended up on the I-20 West in "the bad part of town" according to a cashier at a restaurant off the exit... she was really nice about it and all, but she locked the restaurant down for me and my boyfriend 2 hours before closing. We didn't ask her to, we didn't even know what was going on. I shit you not, right when we were standing up to leave, she comes up to us and says "I'm going to unlock this door and I'm going to make sure you two get to your car safe. White people who look like y'all do aren't too favored around here. Be safe." And then she proceeded to actually stand in the door and watch us walk to the car. I love Atlanta, I love the people, I love just about every part of it. But uh... what I'm trying to get at is, what's the fuckin deal with the whole I-20 thing? Is it actually that awful? It shook me up enough to not attempt to go back to that part of ATL ever again in the future.
I'm born and raised in little rock Arkansas. ATL didn't get this way til 1995 or 96. I pray it get better out there. I live in San Diego CA. I love it. I moved here in 2011 with a suitcase and $60 bucks. Lived with a friend and grinded like hell to find a job and in a month started my first job at lil caesars. 7 years later of working hard and I have a home, cars and beautiful family. Home is where u lay your head. My grandmother use to say "can't died a long time ago" meaning you can do anything you want, you just have to apply yourself.

I'm from the Bama/ga line and I moved to the metro area. People were like its crazy up there. I'm like more people more problems. I put in for jobs, got a interview, put in my two weeks notice with the old job, moved with my uncle for 2 months. Still have my brand new car I had before I got here and moved to a good area and making more! If you have a plan just trust the process. Watch your surroundings and make associates and not friends. Only people I have talked to are some of my people that already lives here. No time for frienemies.

I'm always curious who these videos are made for. Atlanta is cheap as friggin hell, especially coming from NYC. Don't seem rougher than Brooklyn. These videos may be for younger folks. The only reason I thought about moving to Atlanta was to get a better bang for the buck with a nice looking house. To buy a decent house in NYC is 1Mil and up. In Atlanta, you can get a lovely house for 300-500K for your family...and you don't have to shovel much snow lol. The issue before moving is figuring out the best school zones for your kids because I heard the school system is not the best. If you can survive in NYC or any city like it, you can survive in the A.

For a career professional - who’s mature and has their money in order, you can move and adjust in no time. My cousin relocated to Atlanta after Katrina (She’s a nurse and instructor) and got on her feet in no time. Bought a crib; had multiple job offers and did the thing! She’s been there since 2006. I was looking to move here to go somewhere different and after watching your video and learning a lot from it I have decided not to run from my problems but to find another alternative solution to my problems you have a new subscriber great video.
I said this in 1999 when I left ATL. I moved there in 1990 when I saw a BET special, when I got there in June of 1990, you could get fired from a job at 9am and have a new job by 2pm. I was working two jobs and doing stand-up comedy. I met more people from my hometown than I did from ATL. I interviewed and hired the first employees for the Georgia Dome. I left in 1999, went back in 2006 - and I did not recognize the city.
I went to college in Atlanta and graduated. I recently went back after several years away and I too did not recognize the city. It's way too thugged out. I never noticed how ghetto Atlanta was before. Not sure why. But I sure noticed when I visited in 2018.
I agree with what you say. I live in Marietta about a mile from the new Braves stadium at Suntrust Park and it’s beautiful here. I graduated from Marietta High School. My kids were born at Northside Hospital. There is a lot to do here. I left for a little bit due to my husband spending some time in the military but he’s medically retired now and we came back home. He’s a critical care nurse at Grady and I’m a graphic designer and web developer. If you are in the medical field there is an abundance of jobs here. If you’re IT then you’re set as well. You do have to have a plan before coming here or you won’t be successful. If you have a plan, money saved and housing lined up then you should be OK. We’re an upper middle class family that lives in a neighborhood that’s 90% black in Cobb County of all places. The traffic is horrible but I know all of the back roads and know how to get around it LMBO! I refuse to sit in that mess! I’m not surrounded by a lot of the negative things that people say about Atlanta so I guess I’m fortunate and blessed. I never see it so my outlook is different. This is my home and I love it!

Atlanta is designed for business people and who want to build and evolve. It is not for factory workers or no skilled people. Gays are everywhere and they are people too and have just as much right to live wherever the hell they please. They have never been the issue, they are in their own world and straight people are in theirs. Traffic can be horrific at times, but you have the option of telecommuting if you are a professional or business person. I love the outskirts don't care for the inner city much except for entertainment and to party. I moved back to PA and love it, but I will be moving back to the ATL in the immediate future because I always experience massive success in business. @ 19 I moved to Atlanta from N.Y. with only $500 to my name. My first few hours there I got a job @ McDonald's. I slept in my car for 5 months. Went to work every day saved money. Eventually got an apartment. And not in a great neighbor either. enrolled in school. Earned my Bachelor's degree Computer Science. I'm 25 now and live in Cali but I loved every minute of my time in ATL. I love ATL for allowing me to apply that N.Y. hustle. Starting from nothing grind to build something.

Let's be real. I lived in Atlanta for 10 years. Had to leave for family concerns. I moved from Detroit in 2004. Took a job at GM in Doraville. Purchased a home in College Park. When GM closed I took a job at Georgia Power. The key is planning and education. I noticed you passed some clubs near Georgia Tech. Loved it! Returned to the D to care for my mom. The game is training, education, or special skills. America won't tell you that. Wednesday wind down at centennial Olympic park brings out all the qualified cuties. Damn I miss it.

I grew up in Charlotte and now live in Greenville, SC. To me, Atlanta is my heaven. The most motivational moment of my life is 85S coming through the city, driving between the sky scrapers and it makes me feel like I’ve made it.

I've lived in Boston all my life and let me tell you it's a struggle. I've made well over 18 bucks an hour at some of my jobs but the cost of living is so high its more like 9bucks once I'm done paying rent(1100), car insurance (255) and other living expenses. Can't park at the same meter for more than two hours(40 ticket) not even on the same street. In some cities they have so many ways of dipping into your pockets it's not the big bills that get but the unexpected ones they hit you with. Taxes, violations, random cost increase.
I'm an old chick, and I lived in Atlanta "back in the day" 80s, and I'm a lesbian, and there were just as many gay people there then as now, they were just in the closet because of dangerous people who hate. Common sense would dictate that if you have money you can be successful anywhere. Also, you don't even really need money to be a success, for if you're willing to work hard you'll get yours anywhere in the world, just as you said. Your success is the direct effect of how hard you're willing to work, that goes for anyone, gay, straight, white, black and everything in between. I wish I watched this before I moved here. Things are working out for me because I'm making the best of it but I could of did this at Home. I am staying with my cousin and things didn't happen the way I expected. I came because I just graduated college and a few friend recommended that I come here for jobs and opportunities. When I came to Atlanta an internship that I worked hard for called me to come back home and I felt so defeated because I feel like I came down here to do something that I could of done at home. The people I have met here are encouraging me to stay but I am praying on it. Here I realized that everywhere you go there will be obstacles. People from back home in NY feel like I am going to live this amazing life down here but I wish that they would realize that they could do the same thing back home.

This man is preaching. Before I moved to Atlanta, I had an extensive plan. From information about various areas to live in, looking through tons of Google searches for apartment reviews to deciding what direction I wanted my career to go and what salary would allow me to live comfortably. I would even watch AJC news on my phone just so I would be informed. It was a long time coming, and once I graduated with my bachelors, there was no turning back.
My motivation was leaving South Carolina because the city I lived in only have about 3,000 residents. Life was too slow, and there was minimal opportunity to grow yourself or your career in a particular industry.

You can buy a home with that sort of money, nice enough, and have about 6 months of living expenses while you try to find work ... unless you go into a MORTAGE, and your paying monthly. Then you may still have some cash to spread it out longer.
With me, I don't like ATL anymore. I'ts changed. But, I OWN my house on the East Side. No bank can come knocking on my door. And its newly renovated from top to bottom. So, I can sell this Florida home for about $250,000 and move back to ATL, live in a two story home with ZERO mortgage. I can work at HomeDepot or something simple and STILL be fine. My only expenses would be utilities and food. Tried for years to convince my wife for us to go back to ATL so we wont be on a mortage. 9 years later, she's starting to understand. But how far along could we have been if we never even lived here, on this mortgage from Hell?
Mortages are from HELL. I don't care who you are or how rich you are, mortages are a money pot! Banks pocket YOUR money for about as much as the house cost! Nah. If you have a stable and good family, or helpful parents, its better to borrow from FAMILY and pay back with no interest than borrowing from banks.

... so is insurance. How many money do you pay for home insurance and you've NEVER made a claim? Some of you for over 40 years, and NEVER made a claim. I think this video is the best so far. If you are coming to party only then you need a job and jobs are hard to come by, especially if you don't have a career or needed skill. Most people that live in Atlanta that are living well are educated, some of them have multiple degrees and PhD's. If your skill level is low, then you are not going to get paid real money. These are the things to think about. Now if you want to go to school and get a college education here, then that might be a good idea, so you can compete for a good job. If you come here to do nothing, then you will fail here. Atlanta is good for some things like education, and cheap housing. Don't look at the reality shows and think that's whats going on. Half of what you see on those shows are not real and they are not all living large. The show is helping them make money, but they were struggling before the show. I currently live in Texas and it's getting expensive and some people are nice and some are funny when it comes to hiring certain people. My sister already moved back to Atlanta, because its more affordable for housing. She is an RN, but in Texas housing was going up every 6 months to a year and she couldn't afford a decent house, but Georgia is still reasonable. I guess one needs to have their priorities straight and be realistic when moving to Atlanta. It can work for you if you make the right moves.
However over the next 10 years it is estimated to increase in population by 2 million people. The cost of living wont be cheap much longer. My rent went up 500 dollars in one year in Atlanta. Its really getting crowded and more expensive.

You can have a plan and that still doesn't guarantee that you're experience will go as expected. How often do plans change?Be realistic. You take a chance wherever you move. You don't know if you're going to like a place until you live there. Experiences may differ depending on the person and their experience... so its subjective and will naturally depend on who you ask and their own experience. I do agree that you should do your research on any place you plan to move to before you up and just move there.
Love it seem very authentic I'm moving from Wisconsin to start a cleaning business in Atlanta I don't see a lot of cleaning businesses there and if there are they are not thriving was going to just pick up and leave but decided to stay and save money to move there glad I chose to stay home until I saved up peace and love thanks for the video
That was some REAL shit. I spent. 13 years there in two seperate trips and FAILED both times. The reason why I failed was what you touched on. High expectations and no plan. I had some success, but couldn't maintain it because in the ATL you have "Gatekeepers" who make sure you have to be a part of a crew (frat, sorority, brotherhood/freemasons) to take steps snd get into the major opportunities. Like you bro, that wasn't me and while its like that everywhere, its in Atlanta that its to the extreme. It's crabs in a barrel times 100. Everone wants to "blow up" or be a big shot. In every city, you have to have people who do simple jobs and live humble, but when you have folks who love to live like Hollywood, thats what you're gonna get. The lesson I learned was, be happy where you are. Find who you are and where you are will be the place you end up. I went back home to Baltimore, and this city wants to be like the ATL. It lost its blue collar edge like Atlanta did in the early 90's when I first moved there. Its just people morphing into superficial people with unreasonable expectations who fail and talk shit. I took my lumps like a man and used the experience to grow.

Hello, I was saying the same thing to myself we need a plan before we just jump and make this major decision. I and my fiance plans to move to Atlanta from Baltimore for better opportunities. I love to travel and been there before, but never stayed long enough to network. I'm in the health care field, plus a baker&cooks lol love me some cupcakes and just to express my talent else where is my goal, I have my plan in process just waiting to take that leap. I don't really worry much about what I see on tv even though it be interesting but it's still not reality. The cost of living is better, college I take online so no problem there, and I have no kiddies.
I feel you need to have God, a plan, savings and determination to succeed. it's not going to be easy and tou will have some road blocks but with the Lord's help you can succeed.

I'm a newly licensed agent in PA. Yes, you have a few fees but, those fees cover you for the year. My broker doesn't even make you pay upfront, most are done in increments. I think there's 1 fee that has to be paid in full but it's manageable. I chose my broker based on my split. I feel that people who have negatives to say about the business didn't take these into consideration. Real Estate is a great, great avenue for financial freedom. It's so much more than sales! You can do a lot of things with that license, branch out in the real estate game; be encouraged!! 🏡🏘🏢

Im in DC and I can tell you the job situation is tight. There are alot of jobs here but there are more people in need of jobs than there are available. Baltimore is 40 min. away and deep in poverty. Most of them folk in Atl migrated there in the 90's when it was cool to relocate there....but like the brother said the population is over the top and they have turned into any other major city. Over populated!!
I do that commute from Bmore to DC every day. There is work in both cities but a lot of people don't want to work. Some even have the nerve to be picky about work. I have been doing it since '99 and I'm good.

I know that it seems to be the flavor of the month to hate on moving to Atlanta, but it has been a pretty good experience for me both times that I have done it. I first fell in love with the city when I moved here as a college student at Emory, and even though I moved to California for law school, I always intended to move back here to set up my practice before life led me to settle in Birmingham instead. Then I underwent a relocation here for the second time when my family was forced to move to Atlanta during a company restructure, and all I can say is that it was a good move for us when my husband's company transferred us here and the relocation company helped us get settled in Dunwoody. My husband, kids and I currently have a great life in our home here in Dunwoody where we enjoy a sense of community mixed with the advantages of metropolitan living, and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I do have to admit though that we spend most of our time in Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Marietta, Alpharetta, and Buckhead and we rarely venture any further outward given that we can find everything that we need and most things that we want to do in those areas so that might have something to do with it.

So many damn people from Gary, IN have moved to Atlanta. Also, you’re right, these people are usually broken and down on their luck. There is like this whole fairytale surrounding Atlanta, almost like it’s this holy land for AA. So many girls I know who move to ATL come back to Indiana and usually with a new mouth to feed. I like to visit you peaches. Beautiful city and I do love that the history runs deep there. However, I love it here in Chicago just a little...LOT more. I’m fortunate to live in Downtown Chicago and not where the gangs are. But there are a lot of carjackings here.

I visited Atlanta today and ended up on the I-20 West in "the bad part of town" according to a cashier at a restaurant off the exit... she was really nice about it and all, but she locked the restaurant down for me and my boyfriend 2 hours before closing. We didn't ask her to, we didn't even know what was going on. I shit you not, right when we were standing up to leave, she comes up to us and says "I'm going to unlock this door and I'm going to make sure you two get to your car safe. White people who look like y'all do aren't too favored around here. Be safe." And then she proceeded to actually stand in the door and watch us walk to the car. I love Atlanta, I love the people, I love just about every part of it. But uh... what I'm trying to get at is, what's the fuckin deal with the whole I-20 thing? Is it actually that awful? It shook me up enough to not attempt to go back to that part of ATL ever again in the future.

Lived in Atlanta for 18 years, but recently moved. The cost of living has increased, traffic got worse and worse, and not to mention all the people moving there changed the culture. It use to have a small town big city feel, but now its turning into NYC. So if you like to just party, go to the clubs you will love Atlanta. Dont come to Atlanta if you dont have a plan or money. The dream of Atlanta is gone, and that is really sad. You will often find it hard to find something to do outside of a bar, club, or going out to eat.
