This song has always raised goose bumps! Some trivia for you…Lee Greenwood got to do things during this recording that his label wouldn’t let him do before; the young lady who sang “from the hills of Tennessee is actually from Tennessee; “across the plains of Texas” by born and bred Texan, Tim Foust; “from the lakes of Minnesota” by Rob who has lived in Minnesota all of his life; “from sea to shining sea” by Chance who was born in Florida, grew up in Alabama, and now lives in LA. Did you catch Adam’s flyover at the end? Thanks for allowing us and Home Free to be part of your Memorial Day !
This song chokes me up every time I hear it. I’m 68 years old and a veteran. I would still go to war next to my brothers to fight for this country if needed. This is the greatest country on Earth. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
This version is just spectacular! So glad you liked it Jeremy. Not sure if you heard Adam's fly over sound at the end. Thanks for requesting this Teri! 🖤🍟
What this song does to a true patriot physically with the cold chills and tears is unbelievable, it’s so beautiful!!!! American pride is so real and it’s powerful
This song has always moved me, but this rendition brings me to tears as well. Lee Greenwood is so patriotic and such an amazing artist. The Air Force Band was awesome. And Home Free are so patriotic as well. This was a great collab. Thank you so much for doing this reaction!
Thank you, Jeanne! I knew I wasn't alone...this song is so powerful and I completely agree about Home Free, Lee Greenwood and the USAF band - the most patriotic collab you'd find! ✌🏽
This is such a beautiful, stirring song! You don't have to be American to appreciate it (I'm Canadian). The addition of the U.S. Air Force band and Home Free have elevated Lee Greenwood's original. Lee Greenwood said that the addition of Home Free and the Singing Sergeants allowed him the space to ad lib parts of the song. Thanks for requesting it Teri & for playing it & your comments & reactions Jeremy.
Incidentally, Tim, Austin & friends do fund-raising for veteran's charities. Tim also has written a song "Land of the Free" that expresses much of what you said in your final notes.
HF is the most patriotic group of men out there! This is absolutely stunning! I've watched it a million times. I've cried everytime
Adam even did the flyover sound at the end of it. This was during the pandemic and they were separated in different cities across the USA, but it all came together so solidly beautifully. Lee still has the vocals at his age, how great it had to be for Austin and Tim and Home Free's producer Darren Rust that got to share the studio with the amazing Lee Greenwood putting this all together.
Great reaction! Keep the Home Free coming!
Supposedly, Lee Greenwood has said he enjoyed doing this because he was able to be more expressive with vocals (hence the big runs and ad libs). His original version was pretty much just him, but with the awesome backing vocals he could really take his part to the next level. The end result, as you saw and heard, is just phenomenal.
This was done during COVID, so the parts were recorded at the various places across the country. Their producer Darren (guy behind the mixing board) put it all together. Home Free released a LOT of music during COVID (like a new song every few weeks). I know it helped a lot of Home Fries like me.
Semper Fi!
I've heard this probably a couple hundred times and still will get goosebumps and a tear or two. This definitely is the perfect song for this holiday. I too come from a big military family. Some even lost their lives.😢 so I'm proud to be a patriotic American. Thanks for a great reaction ❤😊
Fun fact- my son is on active in the Air Force. This song was played during his Coin Ceremony during his graduation from BMT. I completely fell apart and I am NOT a crier. This song gets me every time!!🥰
Lee sounds great for 75! Love the AF band too…goodness what singers! Of course, I also love the Home Free boys helping out. Adam killed the beatboxing especially at the end with the jet sounds! Great reaction Jeremy! Have a great weekend!😘
This song has never failed to move me to tears. I love the original and love HF's original version (with Chris) BUT this version is PHENOMENAL!!! I always wondered since Lee and the Singing Sargents are used to hearing music when they sing or in this case record if Adam did his part first instead of last like normal.
This version is fire and emotion all the way, supported by Adam magic work, the airforce choir is really up grading the song and Lee does some perfect ad lib ...and the guys of course are, as usual, awesome.
Thx for this reaction 💖👌
Awesome version of Lee's song. And that last chorus of God bless the USA ALWAYS brings a tear to my eyes. May the Almighty bless the American soldiers.
Almost 2 weeks into Navy Boot Camp they brought in every instructor on the base and tortured us for hours. The floor was covered in sweat. They put it in a circle and played this song. It was at that point I knew I was going to get out alive. We all cried a lot. Tears of relief, pride and joy. This song makes it seem like yesterday but it was 1990. 🥰 Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Lee Greenwood was 74 when this version was recorded, but you can't tell it by watching him!
Just wow, God Bless the USA. ❤🇺🇸. To all are brave heroes & their families, Thank you for making the ultimate sacrifice, so we can live in freedom, in the best country on earth. I will continue to live my life, and I pray that I am representing all the values worthy of your sacrifice. Thank you🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I was lucky enough to hear Lee Greenwood sing this live in the summer of 2001. Everyone stood up for the first chorus and sang along for the rest of the song. It was beautiful and moving. Who knew that a few short months later things would happen that would propel the original to the top of the charts?
5th generation Air Force here; my daddy was in AF Band his whole career(rip dad)😢❤🇺🇸🇺🇸thank you so much for this Lee and our wonderful men&womens rendition ❤😊
When Lee Greenwood first came out with this song I could not hear it without bawling like a baby.
HF's solo version was my very first HF video. I was hooked.
That version is coming tomorrow afternoon, Charlene!! Thanks for watching!! ✌🏽
Wonderful reaction! Thank you so much and especially a heartfelt thanks to your family, wife and everyone who serves or has served and sacrificed so that I can live in freedom!❤
Awesome reaction!
Lee Greenwood is a PATIOT in promoting AMERICA..., yeah we have our issues. I wouldn't live anywhere else!
Home Free - Die A Happy Man... is must react!
peace
I watched this on Memorial Day weekend 2024. Thanks.
I can't help but sing this at the top of my lungs everytime I hear it.
They have a handful of songs that salute our country. Including a couple originals.
I really enjoyed your reaction to this magnificent version of the song. The video went viral and won an award. You’re right, the chills and goosebumps just keep coming throughout this performance.
Makes you tear up don’t it. Others don’t know why grown men cry at this song.
I love this version! My Daddy was US Navy, both brothers were USAF, husband was Army, and my nephew is US Marine, so I don't have a favored branch! 😁❤🇺🇸🦅
Have you heard Home Free's cover of "Travelin' Soldier"??
If not, it would be a perfect one to do for Memorial Day! 👍 Rob blows it away and the harmonies are amazing. Adam, well, what can you say about Adam!? His cadence snares are beautiful, like in the one you just heard.
For many years HF finished their concerts with this song. Chris Rupp was inspired to do their arrangement after 9/11.
Im so glad it hit you like it did. ❤ they do "my country tis of thee" that is amazing, also "American pie" with THE Don McLean ❤.
Thank you Teri❤❤❤
Like you, we have 4 generations of Air Force. Daddy, me, my husband, oldest daughter and a grandson. This is my favorite version. I love that the USAF band Singing Sergeants were included.
I'm with you Bro!
Thank you for playing both versions that by HF! This song was sung many times during 9/11. You can't help getting flutters listening to this. No matter how or who should govern this country, no matter how many times we stick our fingers in other countries pot, no matter all the strife that's going on in this country, I rather be here than any place else. You can't but feel pride in our country. We're still a young country - 247 years old. Again thank you for playing the songs, thank your family and your wife 's family for giving us protection. God bless the USA!!! ❤
You said it all so well, Jeremy. I have four military men in my immediate family, a Marine Major Brother, and that isn't even all of them. Like you, huge military connections. I love your love and emotional reaction to beautiful voices, beautiful music. Thank you for your military family's service. God bless.
God hear our prayer. God please continue your mercy on this country.
Just mind blowing. 🥲🇺🇸🥲🇺🇸🥲🇺🇸
My dad was USAF too. I married a Coastie and he retires next month after 20 years of this crazy military life. And we’re also from Annapolis so we have mucho love for the Navy too. All branches of course, as you said. Point is: This song has so much personal meaning! No words can describe it. Thanks for reacting and thanks to you and your family’s service.
Thank you for the service from you and your family. Appreciate it!
My brother was in the navy, my two oldest children also veterans. I appreciate and love our military and their families! All gave some some gave all. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
We know Lee Greenwood's original ---- IT HITS!!!! But this one, when ya think "there is no way that it can get any better!" (than the original) ......... Mr. Greenwood goes and does this!!! and OMG!!!! A HUGE Thank You to Lee G, HF, and the Air Force Band ... Phenomenally Exceptional !!! Be Safe
Music will do that to you if you have a heart. Our family is salted with military starting with the Civil War. We have lived in the knowledge of what a toll it takes to protect our freedoms and the appreciation that is due to those who serve. I have personally lost friends during Vietnam. I could never understand how people can so easily forget that Freedom isn't free. Let's hope that for at least everyone takes at least a moment to express gratitude for those boots on the ground Heroes who chose to fight the fight that preserved what we all enjoy today. God bless the U.S.A.
Our family is very military. My grandpa served in WW1 (yes, I'm old), my dad served in the Korean war, my husband served a combined 29 years in USAF and Ks. Air National Guard, one son-in-law served in the army with a tour in Iraq and Afghanistan and our other son-in-law is currently serving in the Ks. Air National Guard. This song ALWAYS makes us teary eyed and gives us chills. We have far more freedoms than people in other countries.
Astoundingly great ❤️🤍💙
Lee greenwood still show that he still has that voice and believe you me you can't help but cheer up every time you hear the song no One all of our fallen soldiers and that who have kept this country free as long as what they add God bless the military
I got to see Lee greenwood with t Graham Brown and the headliner Kenny Rogers
Lee Greenwood, Home Free, and the USAF Singing Sargeants...couldnt ask for anything better. Beautiful song and everyone sounded awesome. I enjoy your channel, and I'm a recent subscriber.
Hey.. both my Grandfathers, my Daddy, my husband's Daddy, my Uncle's all fought for our freedom.. nothing but respect for every veteran.. Thank them all. I love your reaction.. Thank you
Thank you so much for the thoughtful comments (here and on our other vids), Michelle!! So happy you are here. And so much gratitude to your family's service to our country!!! God Bless America!
Believe this went mega viral for the guys. Collaboration from Mr Greenwood, requesting them for the big anniversary. Done during quarantine.
I get goosebumps too when I hear this song!❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is the best version! ❤❤
This is probably the greatest patriotic song ever written. I am a Navy veteran and I served 67 - 71. This song always raises hairs and create throat lumps.
This rendition just kills me every single time I hear it, since they put it out.
This version always makes me cry, in a good way. So beautiful
Imagine the pride when Lee Greenwood asks you to sing one of his songs with him!!!
This is an absolutely phenomenal version of this song. On behalf of my father, husband and my 3 sons thank you for your thoughts. Truly enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
😂❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
tears, chills and goosebumps!
I agree, Home Free's version is great, but this version soars high above❤
Hey, thanks for the transparency.
This version gets me every time, it touches my heart & then my eyes tear up. I have this rendition on my Home Free playlist, not to take anything away from the other version you're sharing tomorrow, but this one is my absolute favorite!! ❤️🇺🇲🤍🇺🇲💙
Excellent reaction! The military singers just put this through the stratosphere for me.
Totally Awesome!!
I love Adam's creative drumming on this one.
Gives me chills too! Absolutely beautiful! Great reaction! ❤🇺🇸❤
The singers are actually "The Singing Sergeants" which is part of the US Ar Frce Band. No musical instruments were used in this song. Although it does sound like drums in there I loved it!!
I love this song but this is by far my favorite version! I get chill bumps and tear up every time. Adam killed the percussion here and his flyover at the end. 🤯
THE. BEST. VERSION.
God I love this country
They All Sound Amazing ❤
I love this! It is so impressive!
What a wonderful collaboration with Lee Greenwood and The United States Air Force band. One by one such beautiful voices which match so well with the voices of Home Free. The fact that Lee Greenwood remains the center of attention I think shows a lot of respect for this great singer. But Adam Rupp tops it off with his incredible beatboxing/vocal percussion/vocal sounds. He is inhuman.
I’ve watched/listened to this so many times, I tear up every time ❤
I may be almost entirely an old metalhead, but this song always gets me
I got to see Lee Greenwood perform this song once and it was as moving then as it still is now
nice to see this song reacted to in any way
Lee Greenwood is in his 80’s
This original song by Lee Greenwood was recorded in 1984
I’ve seen two out of three and your reactions are so genuine. I love that Home Free loves this country and gives us wonderful songs to reflect on. I hope that you’ve heard Land of the Free, written by Tim Foust and Chris Chatham. It speaks volumes to the feelings of pride we have in the freedoms we are afforded. Thanks so much for choosing what is appropriate for the day!
Didja hear Adam's "flyover" sound at the end?
I love the additions that Lee Greenwood added like God bless the USA God please please was the USA in this version!! Also watch the Patreon making of this video for Lee Greenwood and the producer Darren Rust talk about being racist farm kids and how much this song means to them and why!! This was released On the Fourth of July two or three years ago my quarantine was still on!! I love both home free versions!! Thanks for showing respect for everyone protecting our nation! Great 🇺🇸🇺🇸
The word racist was not in my comment!! Auto correct changes and adds things sometimes. I’m so sorry

Hits me in the feels every time!❤🇺🇸
Your reaction says it all!!! Thank you.
Take a listen to Home Free's My Country Tis of Thee-beautiful rendition & gorgeous scenery from South Dakota!!
Thank you so much for sharing. Love your channel, Home Free and this great country! 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
Thank you very much, Cindy!! God Bless America! ✌
SO glorious! Very cool how they got this done despite the pandemic! ❣️🎼🥰🎶♥️
Adam doing the flyover ✈️ sounds at the end always gives me an extra dose of goosebumps 🥰
That castle in Nashville is Lee's home. :}
Great reaction thanks for sharing your thoughts and time. Peace out. ✌🤗
I love your reaction to this ❤
That's a small part of the USAF Band called the Singing Sergeants
What a beautiful reaction, much respect sir.
Adam with the flyover at the end was awesome
This song always gets to me…
check out Mr. Greenwood!!....The man's is in his high seventies and can still wail!....I feel like this should be up there with the American Anthem...Of course we have the USAF and Home Free....what more would you want?
aaron tippin where the stars and stripes and the eagle fly
Grerat reaction.
Loved your reaction! I feel the same way whenever I hear this version. My father and his two brothers all served in the military, so this is a very meaningful song. The three are no longer with us unfortunately, but a truly meaningful song ❤
Thanks!
I always tear up when I hear Lee Greenwood sing this song. It is played at rodeos, along with the National Anthem. I get really emotional when I hear it. Loved your reaction. Did you hear the fly over sound Adam made at the end?
I'm with you, I tear up every time. Love your reaction. No country will be perfect but the United States is by far the most free. We are in danger of losing our country to globalists who embrace the New World Order ideology. GOD bless the USA . . .pray for our country.
Thanks for watching!!
Always a great song and this just made it even better. very cool.
retired AF and I loved it to
This is such a beautiful song! Love your reaction!
Darren Rust the guy at the mixing board talked Lee into really going for it.
It's awesome isn't it
