- In this video I discuss the issue of overlap when using multiple planners - should it be avoided or embraced, and where's the line between useful overlap and confusing redundancy?

Just started watching this, as it was recommended to me, and I’m intrigued... 7 planners?!? Gotta keep watching to see how this works!
Finding it interesting so far, understand the work and personal planner, the daily task list one; I’m confused! Why do you have to list things like “get up”? Do you write that the night before or when you are already up the next day? If you didn’t write “get dressed”, would you forget to or is just to tick off a task?
The red planner seems like a fun planner, total sticker vomit! I’m not sure how you see anything amongst the stickers, but I’m sure it’s relaxing to do.
Kudos to you for being able to juggle. I am a one planner person (though I know for those in certain field its a legal issue and can't be done). Anyway I'd go nuts if I had two let alone...... I use a ring binder so can keep all my sections up to date and it's much more than just a todo list and calendar.
For some reason dividing things into different planners just seems easiest to me - but I can imagine that it would be easy to keep everything in one planner if you're using a ring binder! That's what I love about the planner community - we all have our preferences, and each planner is so individual! :)
Christine Cortese I'm the same way
This is a great video considering I am about to give hobonichi a try and I’m basically buying the whole store (A5, A6, Weeks and Weeks Mega to cover all aspects of life lol). This will be a transition since I consolidated everything into a bullet journal a few years back
Thanks for addressing this overlap issue. I'm glad I'm not the only planner aficionado noticing this situation occur. I use three planners/TNs everyday, and I keep all three in sync for the convenience of being able to grab one and have all the complete info in each one. Writing the data in three TNs does help to remember better, but it is comforting to know that the complete info is in more than one TN. But each TN has different inserts with other information, which is why I need to use more than one TN. I like using three (or more) planners everyday. Great fun and I get to enjoy using several planners on a daily basis.
Thanks so much for this! It's nice to know there are other planner people experiencing similar issues. Your setup sounds like a nice mix of unique information and overlap. I agree, it's so much fun getting to use several planners on a daily basis!
Vegan Organizer another brilliant thought process video.... very thought provoking...as always love watching your videos.
Thank you so much!! It makes me really happy to hear that :))
I'm loving this video. I have a Regular size Midori TN, which was the first planner I got. Then I bought a small Hobonichi A6 techo. It was so cute I just had to figure a use for it. Not long after I succumbed and bought a Hononichi cousin. Now I have 3 and want very much to use them all. This video is calming me right down with lots of ideas! Thank you so much.
Thanks so much! I'm really happy you found it useful!! :))
Loved this video I have several Filofax planners mainly because I have cheaper ones I take if I am going cycling and visiting places and better ones I take to meetings or if I am going somewhere nice and know my Malden wont get damaged or dirty
My hobonichi weeks planner exists literally as an overlap planner. At the beginning of the week, or later in the week when I'm overwhelmed with my studies and need to just brain dump my tasks, I just write down everything I need to do for the week. Then throughout the week I use it for pre-planning my tasks in my bullet journal (aka my a6 hobonichi). This way my bujo isn't cluttered and I'm not copying everything down every day unnecessarily. I hate the overlap to be honest, but I need to separate my weekly task lists and my daily tasks or else I end up having panic attacks and I shut down. Though I'll admit I'm just a full-time student and I don't have to worry about work or anything else. I love your system though it's too much for me, but your videos are so inspiring!
Thanks so much for the kind words! I'm really happy you enjoy the videos. Your way of using the Weeks makes complete sense to me - it's very reassuring to have a place to store all the information until you need to copy it into your daily pages. I'm the same - if I see too many tasks at once, I'll start to panic! :)
Thank you for sharing! Very informative! I just recently became multiple planner girl myself, as u saw recently lol but great video. I live the idea of an evening planner, may try something like that soon 🤔 lol
Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed it :) I definitely recommend trying the evening planner - it is helping to tame our perpetual evening chaos lol!
Loved your video! You have planner brain or something that makes you happy! I say why not and please enable the rest of us because we have planner brain too🤗
Hehe, thanks so much!! Happy to be in a community of likeminded people with planner brain :))
I use three different "planners." I have a Traveler's Notebook for at home, with my bullet journal, and full calendars and to do lists. I have a passport TN that I keep in my purse for tracking spending, keeping lists and it also has a monthly calendar. The last one I have is just a notebook that I keep at work and use as a bullet journal. I thought 3 was a lot, I don't know how you keep up with 7!! You GO girl!
Haha, thanks! For some reason it's not at all hard to keep up with, but when I see the whole stack together I do think, wow, this looks insane! But 3 is positively minimalist by my standards lol! :)
As long as it's manageable to you, thats great! And thank you for saying 3 is minimalist, that makes me feel good lol :)
Three is definitely uber minimalist in my world - glad I could make you feel happy about that! :)))
I have to ask because I love your videos! If you had to choose between the Hobonichi Techo A6 or weeks if you could only have one for all your planning, tasks and on the go everywhere with you. I just switched from the A6 to weeks and do not feel like I have enough room but I do th love the week at a glance. I do only want to use one.
Hello, I'm new to your channel and I want to say I love your videos very much. I have a midori passport TN and I used it for years as my planner but after going vegan I felt guilty using it. I still love it to bits and will cherish it forever because of the life that was given for it but I just couldn't use it knowing what I know now. I've been looking for a planner to replace it and I stumbled upon your videos and found the hobonichi. OMG how did I not know these existed. I bought my first order in December and I've fallen in love with my planner. thank you for your videos and also for giving us vegans some awesome cover ideas. 😊
Thanks so much for the lovely comment and kind words! I'm really delighted that you enjoy the videos, and am always happy to 'meet' another vegan planner addict. I totally understand what you mean about your TN - when I went vegan I couldn't look at my leather shoes and bag in the same way, it just made me so sad and guilty to use them. I'm so happy that you're enjoying your Hobonichi!!
I have a question but it's not about this specific video. Great video by the way. Where can I send it or shall I just post it here? (it's about the Chris Wang and the Dokibooks)Thank you again for sharing. I'm in the market for a planner A.S.A.P. I'm eager to buy one soon. Your videos are very helpful. I'm new to your channel.
Thanks so much! It's fine to ask the Dokibook question here :)
Thank you.
Can the pages in the Dokibooks be removed from the spiral binding and replaced with other pages? and do you know if the pages inside have lines for writing in each day as well as the Chris Wang pages. I can't find any photos that show what the pages look like for daily planning. (I know most planners now are small squares that leave very small room to write in. I prefer to add my own dates also (but its not a requirement for a purchase) of the money in each day however most come printed with the dates already. Does that make sense? I have a hard time explaining via text. =) thank you so much. Maybe you have shown all of this is a previous video. I can just watch the corresponding video. Not a problem.
I've found another planner I like they are called Kikki.k Planners, I may be telling you old news though. hehe
Live and Let Live Yes, the Dokibook Discagendas are discbound, so you can remove and rearrange the pages very easily. I'm not familiar with Chris Wang inserts so unfortunately I can't tell you anything about them. As for kikki K, sadly almost all of their planners are leather so I avoid them - but they do usually bring out one or two fabric ones every year, and they also have a couple of bound planners that are quite cute 😀
Thank you. I noticed the kikki binders being mostly leather.
I appreciate your reply. Thanks so much.
That helps
💖
Glad that helped!! Happy planning 😆
I have a separate work planner due to lab experiments due dates and all lab stuff (i do put in birthdays and appointments which is the only overlap), my work planner is a vertical week on 2 pages. I have a small weekly pocket size for all my personal stuff that i make notes thoughout the day and then journal about it at the end of the day
Sounds like a very streamlined system!
Where are you from? Your accent is so cool!
Thank you so much! I lived in Northern California until I was a teenager, then Israel, and I've lived in London for about 20 years. So it's a crazy mixed accent :)
If something is working for you. There's no need to justify yourself. Just enjoy it.
Thanks!! That's the right attitude - I need to embrace it! :)
oh my i dont know how you keep up but if it works for you all power to you. i am experimenting with something new so i am writing stuff in 2 so if the new thing doesnt work i can go back
Haha, I don't know, for some reason I find it very reassuring having different categories in different planners, not complicated - but when I see the whole stack together it looks crazy! Hope you're enjoying your new experiment :)
Vegan Organizer I am it started out all anxiety but it is better. I am trying a omi journal
