The US election was largely a result of an overpowering media megaphone for Trump's false narrative and the Harris message being stuck in an echo chamber with a significant portion of the population only hearing the Trump propaganda (Hearing one truth to 2 lies can be persuasive, but one truth to 10 -100 lies is closer to brainwashing). The problem is that if this does not change quickly, the lies and false narratives will rapidly seep further into the culture. Trump's accomplices have used persuasive messages which turn every concept upside down - and even if you do not buy into it, it causes confusion, distrust and apathy. Every nation should be aware of this dangerous digital trend which is easily manipulated by few actors who are more likely to have nefarious intent rather than benevolent governance in mind. The US is in unprecedented dangerous territory with little to no effective safeguards. We likely need to build community trust from neighborhoods up in this post pandemic environment - our isolation has played into deteriorating perceptions of reality. But the media propaganda may be a largely insurmountable barrier in the near future - we need help with this. The last week of 3 Rogan interviews brought Trump's message to an enormous number (hundreds of millions of views) of unsuspecting low information men who tipped the elections across the nation. This close election would have belonged to either candidate in most states prior to this last minute nation wide influence. There is clear evidence of this in the exit polls.
Just make sure people get the full picture about Peanut the freakin' squirrel, if this is the first they've heard about it: A guy kept him as a pet, which you're not supposed to do, didn't bother to take him to a vet or get him any kinds of vaccinations, which would've been advisable, and then made a bunch of money off the thing featuring it on a UA-cam channel that showed off his well-built body so that he could start and OnlyFans (seriously, only in America!). With so much publicity, the authorities got wind of him owning what is supposed to be a wild animal (there are laws about this in every civilised country) and went to repatriate the squirrel. Unfortunately, it bit one of those people, and because squirrels can carry rabies and the only way to tell if an animal has rabies is to take a piece of its brain at autopsy (which other poor pet owners have found out the hard way, not just this guy) they had to put it down. The guy also kept a raccoon, and they can carry and transfer rabies, too. Was it really necessary? Probably not, but was it normal and legal and probably predictable if someone draws a lot of attention to themselves owning an illegal pet? Yeah. Was it a perfect storm after someone got bitten? Very much so. But just be aware, if you see people trying to say they outright just killed a guy's pet for no reason, that's not the situation at all (as usual). They followed protocol as regards to bites from animals that can carry rabies, when someone's life was potentially in the balance of them doing so. If the squirrel actually HAD been infected, they would've have needed to start the person bitten on prophylactic vaccine straight away, as the disease kills nearly everyone infected and it's a horrible death.
The only reason this is getting any traction is because the "influencer" was a Trump fan, and that a small group of liberal influencers organized a call-in campaign to the local government with the goal of getting the squirrel taken away. If it was just random government action, people wouldn't be so outraged.
I appreciate the views from overseas and agree with the general analysis, but we should not ignore the most salient risks: political violence, intimidation, and humiliation. Dictatorship is a horrible governing system, especially in the most powerful nation on earth.
Unfortunately Musk says the IRA for EV charging expansion is totally self serving, as he says he will drop that as it is unnecessary, well that will only allow Tesla to monopolise the EV charging industry, which under the previous Democrats would never be allowed because of the anti competition monopoly act.
China has, with these open policies to factories, tapped into what made early capitalism so competitive. Tradesman would experience innovative technology out of their local area and expertise and bring it back to modify it. Patents and monopoly have stifled these kinds of exchanges.
This is the problem we need to solve under a future repressive government. I don't know how, but we need to start now. Free speech = Free press. Organize from each street, to city, to state from the ground up.
The lands situation in western (red States) is a complex mosaic of private, state and Federal lands (BLM). Only the latter will the Feds have jurisdiction on. Sure they were ease permitting on those lands but State interests in environmental issues (esp. water!) will slow down the process.
Clearly, the discussion with Professor Qi Ye took place some time ago. I understand there may be some delay in releasing it due to editing and quality control. However, doing so gives it a certain odour of a controlled narrative.

Stay the F out of U.S. Affairs. Your countries economies are in shambles so focus on that. And don't even think about asking us for Aid in terms of Benjamins.
I do think it is about how to appeal to the workers - green leftish people dont know how to do that. How do we sell a future which will be better, but only if we make sacrifices and changes that will cost workers the most?
If it's solar and storage in America and wind and storage in the uk, I'm ok with that. I would rather the market decides when Ice says goodbye than subsidy and politics. At least we get to vote as consumers with our choices and behaviours. I drive full Ev but don't seek to compel others.
@ I love the channel. But not sure why you have to hate on the guy who has done more for climate change than anyone in the world. Just because you’re a woky trying to restrict people’s freedom of speech
I spoke to some friends in America and since the ban on checking id before voting in California, I asked if I flew from UK to CA could I vote? They were fairly confident I could do it. THAT, is what polarised which party is actually democratic and which is not. I'm sorry I've had to bail out of the video because of the rampantly polarised bias. The results were reasonably predictable and obvious for those not in the "bubble". Also do not underestimate the MAHA movement from RFK. Tulsi Gabbard is a force of nature too.
The Tariff Act of 1930 (codified at 19 U.S.C. ch. 4), commonly known as the Smoot-Hawley Tariff or Hawley-Smoot Tariff,[1] was a law that implemented protectionist trade policies in the United States. Sponsored by Senator Reed Smoot and Representative Willis C. Hawley, it was signed by President Herbert Hoover on June 17, 1930. The act raised US tariffs on over 20,000 imported goods.[2] The tariffs under the act, excluding duty-free imports, were the second highest in United States history, exceeded by only the Tariff of 1828.[3] The Act prompted retaliatory tariffs by many other countries.[4] The Act and tariffs imposed by America's trading partners in retaliation were major factors of the reduction of American exports and imports by 67% during the Great Depression.[5] Economists and economic historians have a consensus view that the passage of the Smoot-Hawley Tariff worsened the effects of the Great Depression. Second time lucky eh? Probably not?

Excellent effort to find nuggets of hope in the current pile of sh!t. I so do appreciate the perspectives you both bring.
Glad to be able to hear from smart, caring, reasonable people. Thanks and keep up the good work.

Great conversations! Frustrating that everyone has no clue about the Future climate US policy as Trump is so unpredictable!!
"Out of Paris and drill." - seems clear to me. This man could not stay in Power.
Maybe there's a way to make Trump think that reducing GHG emissions was his idea ?
"Europe is totally unprepared", this segment hits hard. Unfortunately it has meanwhile become almost a trueism.
Climate-related weather events could be Trump's next crisis that he can't blame on anyone else.
Don't hold your breath. Global warming is nonsense.

With climate change there is no 'better future' - we might avoid the worst. Get off your high horse.
it was a shock? 😂

Michael fundamentally misunderstands whats going on. The reasons Trump was again installed and by whom are the singular explanation.

From 2016 to 2020 it was great years for EVs, green energy and bad for coal in US. I think this one will be better.

Selective tariffs won’t be inflationary. You believe too much neoliberal economics.
Anything that makes things more expensive is inflationary, by definition! Teriffs will make things more expensive. This isn't hard.
Please explain how adding a cost to something can drive down the price, because I am so indoctrinated with common sense that I can't see it.
Inflation to be so needs an increased pool of currency. With tariffs imports will be more expensive but not everything
You are ignorant! Of course, it will drive inflation. And, I think that I am for the tariffs. But, your view is nonsense.
