Bought my 035 48-hours ago and I'm currently binge watching (no pun) videos until it arrives. As an aside, I own several Swiss and German watches costing significantly more than the 035 and I'm still fidgeting with anticipation for this thing to arrive after seeing one in the flesh. Brilliant watch at any price under 800USD, and even for more it's still a bargain. Cheers.

I have a SARB035....the case design is awesome. Take some time to appreciate all the little details.
A Super Review Of A Great Watch with only ONE WEAKNESS for Me ... as a 220 Lb. large U.S. Marine who has traditionally worn 46mm watches, I started really collecting watches 3 months ago & started watching UA-cam videos to learn more about watch collecting ... I recently bought my first Dress watch the 39.5 Orient Star and on my bulky wrist & body it is barely O.K. but I am getting used to it & truly like it a lot for its Hefty Solid Bracelet & watch Thickness of 14.25 which makes it feel like a small military Tank, but the 38mm Seiko you reviewed above is just too small for my tastes (& I can't afford the Grand Seiko) ... having said that, in the last 3 months I have bought & come to Love the larger Seikos having purchased a Turtle, Yeti, Baby Tuna, Snow Monster and the SUN055 GMT Kinetic all which I wear comfortably daily & with great satisfaction. Thanks for your detailed Review on an great affordable watch, as prior to this review I saw one review of a $ 50,000 Patek Pilots watch & had to ask the reviewer, who that hell in Europe can afford it, as my pilot & navigators friends wear the $ 4,500 Breitling sold on base & to justify this outrageous expenditure of hard earned cash to us normal working class, claim it's not a watch, but a back up airplane instrument, should their plane instruments suddenly go down (no one really believes this explanation, they just love Pilot watches). I got this one. It’s definitely the best watch at its price range, and even under 1000 usd. I think the secret is in the size. It’s properly sized. And good case finishing. I think if it had closed back - it would look even better. But anyway it’s a great watch.
I just got one and love it. The only thing I don't like is the inner bezel that wiggles a bit and moves slightly on its own. For the rest it's a great-looking watch. Do note that it wears small so it will be tiny on big wrists. I have two nice NATO straps for it. One brown leather with gold buckles for a dressy look and one green-black-red with gold buckles NATO for a more casual but striking look.
IMHO This is as close to a grand seiko as we can get.
True. At least when it comes to new Seiko's. The closest you can get to a GS in the same price range as the SARB033 is a King Seiko. Almost the same level of quality as GS. And in some cases comparable to GS.

From a production standpoint, consider recording your audio and laying on top of the video when its a static shot like in the beginning. The watch jumped by 10 or 15 seconds a couple of times and the effect was rather jarring; but with good audio editing, your voice can sound smooth while the video of the watch rolls in the background.
This one with a good leather strap goes to a complete different level, in my opinion.

I have this watch with brown leather strap 6 years now and is like new...(i dont like steel bracelet isnt comfortable for me)
Rolex OP and Explorer should be around $400-500, but because of their brand name it's 5k+.
I have 7" wrist as well, but I can't seem to get proper fit the way I like it. Did you take out 2 links?
Make sure to utilize the micro adjustments in the clasp. I hope that helps. It can be tough having certain wrist sizes.
I have the same problem and found the solution to be expanding bands. If you pick a well designed one it can compliment a classic looking watch and is extremely comfortable.

If the sarx057 was 38mm I would definitely buy that one even if it costs more than double this watch but it's not so the sarb033 is still the king for me.
I generally prefer white faced watches to black but made an exception with the sarb as while they both look great, the black looks that bit better(imho). Also it now enabled me to get another white face watch 😁
Beautiful watch, I just think that is a tad too small for 7" wrist and up. Wish the dial was larger, they could've pushed the indices out towards the bezel (as on most GS). The Orient Star classic which is also 38mm, appears larger on the wrist, mostly because of the dial design that is about 32mm instead of the 30mm on the sarb. Or they could make the case slightly larger at 39 to allow for slightly larger dial. The first moment I put it on, looked like a women's watch to me, then I slowly adjusted to it, but the size always bothered me a bit. Nevertheless, beautiful watch by all means.
Nick K what size is your wrist? I feel like the case wears more like a 40mm
Mine is 7" and to me it wears more like 36. I have 41mm Citizen which wears much larger than the sarb. Case size can be misleading. The 38mm Hamilton intra matic wears like 40-41mm because it's all dial with narrow bezel. It all depends how large the actual dial is not necessarily the case.
Nick K just got mine with the cream dial . An yes was like surprised that the face is kinda small . 41 would have been perfect . But I still like it so far

That's a very good question. I often prefer a white dial on a dress watch. But the Black dial on the Sarb033 is just fantastic looking and really suits the overall watch better then the white dial imo. The Sarb035 is a really good looking watch as well but I would go for the 033 if you are deciding between that and the 035.

I think it's a beautiful everyday watch and more and more people are realising that as the cost has been continuly creeping up brilliant value watch,if this watch was swiss made how much would it cost? 👍
I bought mine in 2007, I understand they are now discontinued. It has the rare Arabic numerals in gold on a champagne face, which I find gives it more of a retro look compared to the other face options, which I like.
A beautiful and robustly crafted watch designed to last a very long time.
I was considering this or the SARB035 as a daily wear. Leaning toward the 035 for a white face as a contrast to my Speedmaster.
Then I saw the SARX015 that complicates the dial just enough. It has texturing that is a pretty obvious tribute to the Omega Aqua Terra, and a day function. Instead of the slightly odd raised thing on the lugs, it goes for a bit more of an angular lug, which makes it a bit more sporty. Possibly less versatile in terms of dressing it up.
Now I'm really torn.

Funny thing. I go to Timex HQ for work most days. Sometimes they have big on site sales. I'd consider buying a nice old vintage one, but they don't make anything I'd want to wear these days.

I saw that you can still get them new on Ebay. A good alternativt could be the SARX035. It looks very similar to the SARB033, but higher quality and of course a higher price tag. Or you can get a King Seiko.

Very weird : you see the exact same comments under every review of the Sarb033. For several comments, that is. Not the same impressions, the exact same words.
The " sold mine and bought a new one, it's just that good " or " why spending 5000 on omega when you can have this " etc.
Either some sellers had a few bots spreading their truth accross youtube, or those are extremely dedicated and strange fans.
Where do you sell your watches?
Is the crown screw in? If not, can it pop out on rugged wear?

I think it's still worth it, but it's not the obvious choice anymore. You can get a lot of great watches for around $500 these day (like the Hamilton Khaki 38).

Sinn make excellent watches. I am personally not the biggest fan of Sinn's dive watches(Prefer the 104, which almost looks like a dive watch). But honestly you can't go wrong with a Sinn. No matter if it's a dive watch or a "tool" watch.

Bracelet plain sucks though. Buckle has two big gaps and not enough micro adjusters.

Totally different watches. But if i only had to pick one, it would be the SARB017. It's a very unique and looks great. It also got 200m WR so you won't have to worry about getting it wet either.

Exactly! After all the taxes and fees it ended up costing me USD $400. Not exactly what some would call "cheap". I consider a watch under $150 to be cheap. To others, a cheap watch might mean costing $50. All relative as everything else in this world.

Alpinist or Cocktail case is no match with SARB033. If talk about the dail then SARB033 might be not as good.

3:18... just FYI, they're Dauphine hands. Not sword. Check the SARG011. That watch has sword style hands.
To me, a large part of the appeal of a watch is the hands. There are Seiko's that I absolutely love and would own...except.... the hands... great example would be the SARX033. Beautiful dial, but I can't get past those hands...
So yeah, not being a dick, it just really irritates me when people talk watches and don't know the different hand styles. It's important.

For gods sake every tasteful seiko has to be too smal why??? Why not 39-41 mm sweet point. Is it mens or unisex watch??? If its mens then make it mens size!
95 percent of other mens watches are this size, let us, guys with small wrists have the possibilty to have cheap nice automatic watch :D
