The Sad Death of G-Unit Records

- G-Unit was a rap group that was started in the early 2000s. The group was made up of 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, and Young Buck. The group was successful and their debut album sold over 3.9 million units in the US. However, the group had some beef with other rappers which led to Young Buck being kicked out of the group. The group also had a long-standing feud with The Game, which began in 2005. However, by 2016, the two sides had finally decided to end their feud.

Nobody did more than 50 cent in such a short amount of time in hip-hop. He had clothing, sneakers, video games, movies, books, Vitamin Water, sold millions of records and made sure all his niggas went platinum/gold. All in a 2-3 year window. The ultimate hustler.
greatest of all time status 50
@@danielcampos20242 you ever heard of Tupac?50 goat🤔
@@josephmills6767 I heard tupac´s songs that you never heard in your life,

All except Tony Yayo.
*G-G-G-G-G-UNIT!!!!*
Probably one of the best calls in hip-hop history.
Hell yeah
I was looking for this comment 💪🏽💪🏽
True but games gggg _u not was also funny and he took on a whole camp single handed with 3 sick mixtapes
Game is musically inclined and has great qualities musically, but he's a weirdo as a man and him tryna out boss fifty as early as he did was goofy cuz fifty at the time was more "the game" then the game himself even was cuz he was behind all his biggest music and game bit the hand. He was too greedy and egotistical and moved like a teenager
That and briiiiiicksquad I remember hearing so much growing up lol
"Beg For Mercy" was the first album I ever bought with my own money. To this day, know every lyric of every song.
i listen to it and it was garbage.
@@confessionsofamoviefreak9580it's the truth, it's the reason why music continues to be crap
I haven't watched the vid yet, but I remember when G-Unit basically ran hip hop. That man 50 had radio hits, a video game, movies, a clothing line, and probly some more shit I'm forgetting. People don't mention 50 on the GOAT list that often but who else had all that besides GOAT status people? He had an insane run and is still going to this day. Crazy.
Aight now let me watch this lol
Don’t forget vitamin water
@@robertwatkins3939 Oh shit lol The 50 million dollar finesse, how could I leave that out?
People don’t mention?? Nah you young dudes just too young to remember how he took over the world. I laugh when ppl compare Wayne to 50 there no comparison from 2002 to 2006 50 was king
@@AndreKing4 I mean... I literally just mentioned all the dope shit he did but okay lol
50 is the greatest gangster rapper to ever do it
The way they dominated from 02-05 was absolutely legendary. Wish it could have lasted longer but we all remember the glory years. They were seriously unstoppable
He lame now but Game kilt dem.
I thought I was the freshest kid in school back in the day with my G-Unit gear 😂

I feel like G-Unit should be the next thing in hip hop to be graced with their flowers. Give them the whole treatment...documentary, podcasts, etc.
I bet it is coming Em Dre 50 documentary

He wasn't given a label. He used his advance money from his record deal to start his own label.
So sad man..I'm a G-Unit fan always. That group was the shit.
I really liked G Unit, I wished the BS didn’t get in their way
G-Unit left so much money on the table. Sad cause all the members are unique with their own styles. This is what money, pride and egos can do.
I forget which interview it was but when 50 was asked about his friendship with Banks, he gave Banks nothing but respect as a rapper but said Banks hated doing everything else (music videos, social media, etc.) and this made Banks difficult to work with. I knew Yayo was 50s hype man at shows but that was the last thing I remember of him.
Just my personal opinion, when everyone was dropping solo projects, I liked Buck's the most (I live in the south) but since leaving G Unit, Buck has sounded bad on more recent projects, almost like he forgot how to rap.
I like Game's music but I honestly think he's bipolar.
Bucks albums and verses in old g unit were definitely 🔥. Hard to choose between buck and banks
Banks had some good flow but yeah Buck just hit hard. Anyone remember Dj Clue lol
Yo gang I be making music and got music videos to them can you let me know if the songs are good if not come back and let me know
You gotta admit though that Game and Buck put the “G” in G-unit. Idk why but that “Stomp” track just gives me shivers every time. They seemed the most like actual street gangsters with their angry raw delivery, 50 and banks were gangster too but they definitely have a smoother less intimidating flow.
Kanye said Banks was one of the best at that time , and 50 said “the man’s nickname is Lazy Lloyd” 😂
Beg For Mercy will always be one of my favorite albums 😂 I got Get Rich or Die Tryin’ when I was in 7th grade and listened to nothing but those two CDs pretty much until their solo albums came out. I didn’t like any of them except Hunger for More.
I had two pairs of G Unit sneakers just so they could sit in the box. I Smell Pussy was my ringtone on my T9 texting abled Nokia phone in 8th grade… where were the adults?! 😂😂
Lmaoo bro on one , but I was in the 5th grade

Yo gang I be making music and got music videos to them can you let me know if the songs are good if not come back and let me know
I think the problem with G Unit is they weren’t really bringing in talent but signing people based on business, and business has no friends, if 50 signed talented artists instead of trying to put old friends on G unit would still be here today
Going to see Lloyd banks on Friday for his new album release concert! Perfect timing yassine thank you!! 🙏
Yo gang I be making music and got music videos to them can you let me know if the songs are good if not come back and let me know
That album was nice…Im my opinion I always thought Banks was the best lyrical rapper in G-Unit
50 only mistake was doing everything for the crew in the beginning, they got too relaxed
Yeah
He'd have made them work and prove themselves
That changed 50’s veiw when the game didn’t give him any credit for “the documentary”. Even though 50 was the one who put In half the work for him, with writing the lyrics and producing the beats.
Hence why he broke up g-unit twice because he quoted “I’m done carrying the group” in one of his interviews.
he did a good job signing young buck he killed everything "beg for mercy" was one of the best albums
I remember the game they had on the Xbox 😭
AIN'T NOTHING SAD ABOUT THEZE GUYS!!! They ran the game for a # of yrs!!! Praise them instead of focusing on the negative💯

I was around n a big fan of early g-unit I think the main factor to they downfall was they kinda depended on 50 to much instead of trying to make shit happen for themselves
Exactly that and nobody was willing enough to play their position, too caught up in boss shit and wanting more and more without reasonable understanding of how to move professionally
50 want them on control.
That was a factor, people got tired of all of the beefing too,
When I was younger I swore G-Unit stood for “Gangsta Unit”.

Early-mid 2000s = where Rappers have the most interesting tape/album names lol
History that I needed , keep doing your thing g.
50 Cent held his artist back and didn’t really showed what their really capable off working with other artist outside of G Unit.
They were lazy . Getting 50k to hype man for 50 was more than most big artists were getting they didn’t build their own shit. They were spoiled to early. Nigga had the whole team on cribs before the album
CAP!
True and by the time Banks and them tried to reach out to work with other artists it was already too late and played out in a way
Yup
Aftermath/Shady/G Unit had enough artist for features, even Banks said that
The way you explained things were so unorganized I couldn't finish.
Very good doc I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Give Jam master Jay some respect on finding 50....
50 cent my favorite rapper of all time , I use to wana be him so bad like he was my role model . I was literally g unit everything . Never was really a fan of buck but Yayo banks and even game before he got lame and kicked out was my everything . Banks top 5 doa lyrically Idgaf what nobody says

I find it weird that your not mentioned the 50 cent deal with Jam Master Jay, which he was dropped from. Where he was supposed to release the album "Power of the Dollar". That's why he went the mixtape route to be signed to Shady/Aftermath after that. If I remember things correctly.
Power of dollar was under Columbia Records, track master tone & poke
G-Unit died when Game dropped 300 bars and running even though 50 loyalists try to dispute it
Because nobody gave a fuck about thet shit the hip-hop head community sis extremely small. While Game did kill it mainstream no 1 gave two flying fucking Grayson's. Eminem, 50 and Banks released "You know" in 2008 and it stopped hip-hop charts and mainstream charts. Jada diced 50 with master class precision in their little title fight. It was much more technical and lyrically impressive then Games diss. 300 bars most wow moment is it's length but Jada's was Bars, punchlines, metaphors, mad skills.
Game never effected G unit with his diss.
If 300 bars killed g-unit then why did game try to get back in the group multiple times after?
@@jp_4_president420 controversy sells, duh
@@rigobryant8050 That isnt what killed the group. The game leaving, buck crying convo released, signing too many artist, 50 not letting banks grieve after banks father passed, and everything has an expiration date. All those things are what killed the group. Also 50 beefing with everyone and then shitting on his own group. That's all a recipe for disaster.
Hurricane Game happened is what I remember
good stuff
My bro and I had all the g unit songs on our psp back in the day

Then I finally found a whole bunch of other rappers because all these dudes werent dominating the market anymore.

I'll never forget someone calling that album "Tales Of Sodomy"
That album showed that Yayo & Banks could do it on their own & was 🔥🔥🔥
By that time I think people got tired of the beefing, they started to treat it as publicity stunts and the Kanye and Curtis album competition too
Fantastic
Beg for Mercy is an all time classic and you cannot convince me otherwise.
50 Cent and G Unit before they went mainstream was the best 🔥🔥
50 Cent is the future was sick
at the end of the day The Game has the best discography out of all them

Can't deny G Unit was hype back in the day tho
If you include the mixtapes Banks up there with him
you smoke crack deaf boy, Games discography has one classic, 50 1999-2009 made 8 classic albums and over 40 mixtappes, Banks drop two classics in 1 year, and his old albums Game cant touch not even in the top 30 LOL

Good mini doc bro out to u
Those mixtapes are my childhood fr
Idk I think we lead a blind eye to 50 because he’s the most famous and a good businessman. You can’t tell me every one new and old friends and family say the same about you and 50 saying that everybody beefing with him because of money but some of them already had money. Its something about 50 that I don’t trust. But I love his music though

I think 50 always had a vision of becoming a mogul similar to the likes of Jay-Z & really did expect the rest of G-Unit to flourish on their own account as well as he states.
The problem with that was that 50 started so many problems in the industry that it made it hard for the other members to function on the level they were expected to.
stop it 50Cent is bigger than Jay z, he has a bigger vision
Fif is a mogul
He surpassed j.
@@markmercado89Don’t know about that.
50 first album went 12 x platinum world wide the second 50 album went 10 x platinum world wide and his third went 5 x platinum world wide. The game was around while 50 was just signing but Dre was about to drop him and 50 convinced Dre to keep him and let him work with him. And 50 didn’t write whole songs for games album. 50 had hooks and the beats he was gonna use on his second album but he gave them to the game. The songs on games first album was hate it or love it, special, church for thugs, west side story, higher and how we do. Got to do proper home work before doing videos. And hot 97 security didn’t shoot games home boy it was somebody else do your research and you will find out who did

I think you could've done your voice lines a bit better, there are several stumbles and awkward pauses throughout the video. The overall Video production is top notch though, no hate.
Lot of incorrect facts but this was still a great video.
50 was the maker and the destroyer of G-Unit. Beef seems more important to him than business
Nah that was Game. 50 actually stopped beefing with a lot of people. Game was running around getting into conflicts with people.
@@takohma1056 I don't agree with that. 50 Cent has always been the agitator. Can you imagine he's still beefing with Ja Rule, this guy literally has disowned his son, his blood dude. Do you realize how serious that is?
@@kwasikumah3491 Game caused a lot of beef when he got in G-Unit. 50 didn’t want them just going out with other people to prevent that. Game had beef with Jim Jones, that DJ (forgot his name) and someone else also that 50 was cool with. 50 had to do damage control cuz Game was so wild.
As Xzibit once said, "ain't no 'homies' in business". That pretty much sums up the story of G-Unit.
