It's truly amazing to watch someone produce what they have imagined ! It's really a fine art . I have a cousin creates works like this. People are so gifted ! ❤ It !!!!
What fascinates me is you wood turners' ability to see the end product from the beginning. You start by cutting, shaping and gluing disconnected pieces of wood with the idea of what picture they will make after turning. To me, that's like determining the picture of a puzzle from all the unassembled pieces. I tip my hat to you and that mental foresight.
This is way kickbutt. Nice job. I have an old lathe that can turn 5-6 feet stock. Got it from an old timer. Not used it yet. Moved over 1100 miles and still need to get tools together here. Jonesy NW ARIZONA
I see you reaching across the bandsaw blade to run your jig. 😬 Take advice from someone who almost cut his arm off; reposition yourself to protect your limbs.
Since you were already using the bandsaw, why not cut 45's to make the turning start less painful. Beautiful piece. I see an elliptical sun as the design.
Hola Carpenter, buenas tardes y buen Domingo. Para mi es magia lo que hiciste. El resultado final es tan asombroso como todo el proceso. Muy buen video. Me gusto mucho. Muchas gracias por registrarlo todo y compartirlo con todos nosotros. Muy buen trabajo. Segui adelante. Gracias Carpenter.

Have you ever worked with Pernambuco? I had a couple of snooker cues made for me in the UK and the hand-splicing woods were Ebony and Pernambuco. The wood is usually used for high-end pens or violin bows but what a beautiful grain. They say it is brutally hard though. Just curious if you have worked with it. Cheers. I sure enjoyed this video. It is 1:51 am but I wanted to watch all of the video to help your analytics. Thanks again for the video it was tremendous fun.
this thing is incredible... huge fan of inlay work ! ......but I'm also an artist/craftsman and my question is : "is it still a VASE if it can't hold flowers & water..... or is it a vase shaped SCULPTURE ???"
I think the choice of the dark glue is bad. It shows on the final product and detracts from the overall look. this is the second project of yours I have watched and the first was very nice but the dark glue showed around the inserts and really looked bad.
It's similar to the shape of the Rising Sun Flag The flag, which was used by Japan during World War II, symbolizes Japanese militarism. Currently, it is used as a military flag for the Japanese Land Self-Defense Force and the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and has caused controversy as it is often used to cheer for international sports events.
Did you consider how wet the wood was before you started? Wood shrinks as it dies, but the epoxy doesn't, and different woods/wood grains shrink differently'
Why do you leave it square when you start turning it. Surely, it would be easier on the hands and wrists to mark the centres, then cut the corners off, giving a smoother initial ride.
OT: While you were taking off the initial material to make a cylinder I thought I heard the back end of the gunfire sound effect from Aliens somewhere around 18:35
Looks like a vase to me. After all it does have an opening in the top so it can hold "things". Flowers would work nicely in this vase. And flowers are a "thing". Right? Heck, you could put sticks in this beautiful vase and it would be pretty as well. There are many "things" that could go in this. You could put marbles in it through that opening that is there for some reason. How about coins? Even dirt could go in it. Really wouldn't want to do that........... it's way to pretty for that. Doggie treats would work too. Oh my goodness.......... the list goes on and on with things you could put in this vase. Oops, I mean ornament. lol I guess it's a matter of opinion as to what you want to call it. When I hear the word ornament, I always think of a Christmas tree with decorations on it, ornaments and balls. Even though this is absolutely gorgeous, it would look kinda funny hanging on a Christmas tree. lol Just having a little laugh here. 🎄🎄🎄🎄 🟣🔵🟡🟠🔴

вставки выглядят классно, а вот текстура белого дерева не очень, даже пусть она будет будет ультра гладкой и отшлифонанной, но выглядит текстура очень рыхло, будто дотронешься и занозу получишь, наверно стоило взять другую породу дерева для основы
Fantastic work but I have a major complaint. Why can't you talk explaining what you are doing? There are 1,000's of woodworking videos on UA-cam. I stopped watching yours because I can't figure out what you are doing and you don't explain it. Put some sound in next time please. Then I could recommend it to my fellow woodturners at the next meeting.
Nice design. Too bad the piece isn't sanded better. It looks like teat outs weren't turned and then sanded smooth. Kind of a waste of what appears to be some exotic wood.
The sort of skill is in the cutting and assembly but even then you don’t show planing flat the white wood but i don’t see any skill in carbon tipped tools ,that is not turning it is scraping sorry thumbs down
I have to agree. He goes from sanding to finish without even checking the piece. Basically hogs out a bunch of material, sands a little and slaps some Finnish on it. That and the dark glue he uses certainly makes the finished product look unfinished. After looking a the end product, to me it looks terrible. I’d give it a four out of 10
Wow, no guard rails or anything, this equipment should have been scrapped decades ago. These guys are placing themselves at serious risk for major injury.

If you find that it is not completely symmetrical, it’s because you missed a space with the last two lines drawn from the first set.

What is the yellow wood looks so cool
Osage orange is the name of it. Another good yellow wood is canarywood, but that tends to have streaks of colors running through it.
That’s a nice looking vase. If you had used proper bowl gouges instead of those jabbing tools you would not need to do so much sanding.
