I LOVED the Paint by Number Kit I recently got at @Michaels Stores. It's the Artist Loft brand and I thoroughly enjoyed painting it in! It's like coloring within the lines, but with a paintbrush. I highly recommend it as a form of #selfcare or #creativebreak :)

#paintbynumber - Навчання та стиль
Here is my blog post with more tips + links to everything used in the video www.smilingcolors.com/2020/12/paint-by-numbers-tips/
Do you know what type of paint is used? Is it water based?
Yes, water based acrylic paints
Thank you for your video. I did not see the type of paint included with this kit. I paint regularly and this was a gift. You are appreciated so much for the information. Happy painting!
I just got a beach canvas for my birthday. I watched your video!! I am super excited ❤ yay!!!!
thanks Ms. Smitha Katti for the your painting ideas. Yours, is an easy or something that even beginners can follow. Thanks so much. I hope to see more of your art activities because I will send materials in the Philippines for my nephew Paolo who is also interested in visual arts such as this. Again thanks so much.
Great video! I have been looking for a review of a PBN by Artist's Loft for a while. I recently completely 2 paintings from this Michaels brand. One is the Lighthouse on the cliff (easy) and the other is the Mountain scene with reflection on the water (intermediate). I enjoyed doing them so much that I started another (Beach sunset with palm trees) 2 days ago. Once I found out that the kits go on sale during the holidays, I went out and purchased 6 more to complete this winter! I had to purchase some detail brushes so that I could reach the teeny tiny spaces that the provided brushes couldn't reach clearly. I do have one suggestion that I picked up watching another UA-cam video on PBN kits: for the lighter colors that can't mask the number, I used a white gel pen to cover the number before I put paint on it. It works pretty good so far. Thanks again for sharing your experience with these particular brand of PBN kits!
Oh your tip is amazing!! I love the white gel pen tip- but I’d guess you work one color at a time, white out that number and paint them all. A chalk marker might work as well. I have my eye on that mountain scene one and am looking for a easy level for my younger daughter. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. Enjoy your painting
Thank you so much for this very informative video! I bought a kit from Michaels the other day. It's a beautiful Christmas tree. I've never painted like this before. While watching your video I was looking at my box and noticed they have a degree of difficulty rating... of course my inexperienced self chose a "challenging" one!! Lol I'm freaking out inside a little bit but I think it will be fun to do! Thanks again for all your helpful advice! 💗
So happy you found my video!!! I’m sure you’ll enjoy your paint by numbers kit- it might take a little longer if it’s a challenging one but it’ll be fun!
Love this video! So helpful and enjoyed how personable you are 😊 Going to start a project soon!
Yay! Thank you!
Thank you for sharing your tips. I just bought my first paint by numbers and this was very helpful.
Glad you found the video helpful!!
Thank you for all your tips ! Take care !
Thanks for your video! Very helpful. I actually taped mine to cardboard the same way before I saw your video. DIY minds think alike lol. I just started the Hummingbird kit in this collection from Michaels. My daughter picked another floral painting kit from a different brand, so like you, we're doing it together. She's 12, and I'm looking forward to spending some quality, quiet time together. Glad you shared this video. Thank you!
Love love love getting comments like yours 🥰
They are the best! I have done 2 so far. My last one I sat for 8 hours, w some breaks. It’s so relaxing. This one I am doing now, I sat for 3 hours, without realizing.
Wow! 3 hours at a stretch! I do mostly 20 to 30 minutes at a time
Thank you for the great tips. I ordered my kit tomorrow and now I am more excited to paint mine. :) BTW I am subscribing❤️
Yay! Enjoy your paint by number 😃
Hello. I did paint by numbers 13 or so years ago now and I draw and paint but recently finished a paint by number I had started yea ago. I adore painting. Great job hi from Canada
Paint by numbers is so relaxing and satisfying!
Thank you! I enjoyed this video and all of tips. I am starting on my first kit.
Have fun!! 💕
Thank you for the tips. I received my kit today and I cannot wait to start !
Enjoy!
@@SmithaKatti question.. my pbn is frameless. Would you recommend me framing it prior to painting or after ?
TIA !
After painting! Use a magnetic frame- it’s so easy!!! I’ve listed it in my blog post www.smilingcolors.com/2020/12/paint-by-numbers-tips/
I love painting by numbers.❤️
I loved painting it in so much!
Me too... it’s been keeping me busy!
Great suggestions. Thanks for posting.
Love! Ty!
That was so beautiful, thanks for sharing 🤗

I just bought the dalmatian paint by numbers. I'm 41 and haven't done this in over 25 years, so wish me luck! thanks for your video, lots of great tips
We did the dalmations one too, it is so colorful, enjoy!
super helpful. i found the paint thick, so i added a couple drops of water. i won't do that any more...i will put it on thicker. i just started mine so i'm super excited. Need to get a light too! i'm using a flashlight now...that's no fun! thanks again! Megan in Pittsburgh PA
Yes a light does wonders!! And the thicker the paint the quicker you will finish it. Enjoy!
Thank you for the great tips!
Thank you for watching!
I live in Minnesota, too! Awesome Video!
Thank you!
Hi, Recently in my country there was an international book fair, i got 2 paints , the one I chose is new york theme with taxis, still didn’t start as i have no experience
Hi smitha.
I got one like this as a gift and just looking for how to start and got the perfect vedio of yours thanks for the tips will start tomorrow and will share the final picture...
Glad it was helpful!
Have you ever tried thinning your paints with flow aid? It works really well for me.
I haven’t! Thank you for the suggestion
I wanted this one but it was sold out so I got the flowers and hummingbird one today.
All the best. Great job
Thank you!
very helpful.. thnx!
Great tips! 🌺🌺🇨🇦
Thank you! 💕
I couldn't find a piece of cardboard big enough for the canvas, so I went to the dollarstore and bought a sheet of corrugated plastic board. It was only $4. Other tip videos I've seen, suggest use the darkest color 1st🤔 Now Idk what to do.
Darkest color first works too! Actually that would be smart, because the darker colors wont get dirtied up by the time you finish the painting. I like going in color number order- 1 to end and that was lightest to darkest!
Hi, I saw your video just now.
Thanks for the useful tips and suggestions you gave. Could you please tell me how much time it will take to dry after you paint a particular area? Thanks in advance.
The paint dries super quick, in about 5 minutes I would say!
I’m trying to figure out if the paint in these kits is oil or acrylic? Some of my paint pots dried up. Can I add water to rejuvenate the paint?
These are acrylic paints and can be rejuvenated with water
Hi, I know I’m a little late but I recently got the same kit as your daughter (the Eiffel Tower) thx for the the feedback really loved the butterfly as well!
You’ll enjoy the kit! We loved painting them in
@@SmithaKatti oh I am enjoying it as well..it really has small details that kinda frustrating but I’ll handle it!
My kit had a separate piece of paper with the numbers on it - they were not on the canvas. How do I transfer that to the canvas?
There is a paper with the numbers but usually the canvas has pre printed numbers too. I don’t think you can transfer it afterwards, you’d need to refer to the page and paint in accordingly
Thank you for the video! I just picked up a Dalmatian paint by numbers from the same company and had been wondering if anyone had tips before I got started :)
Glad I could help!
Great tips! I’m less inclined to put the kit in the garage. Lol!
Yay!
Do you know the type/brand of canvas used for the PBN kit?
I used the Artist Loft brand here
This was such a great video; I really enjoyed it. You and your daughter both did a lovely job. Did you like the frame that came with it? I'm thinking of getting a framed kit from Michaels store tomorrow. I already ordered some sets on Amazon tonight but they had no frames, lol.
The frame that comes in the kit is basic. For my next paint by numbers I used a white ikea frame and I love how that looks better! Pics in my blog post show the white frame. You can also try a magnetic frame www.smilingcolors.com/2020/12/paint-by-numbers-tips/
@@SmithaKatti Thank you 🥰
Tried to post a pic in progress but not allowing me to paste anything. Just started last night on VanVogh’s sunflowers.
I love that one! I hope you enjoy it!
When I open my paint containers, they were all dried out. What should I do?
Try adding water and letting it sit overnight?
I recently picked up a kit and found I had to use water in order to use the paint. If not it was thick or dried out. This cause me to have to go back and add extra layers, but it’s helpful to k ow if anyone has the same issues.
I have had that issue once- and I guess it depends on the brand and the paint color. Some pigment colors dry out quicker, and adding a little water should be ok
Hi, could you please suggest a kit that I can by in India? This particular kit is not available on amazon here.
Hey! I bought one from this company named 'Skudgear' and everything is really similar as her, except the patterns. You could get more options. Just search "paint by number kits" on Amazon and you'll find loads of options!
I don’t know yet, but I am looking at international options to share!
Can you Please add instructions for the hanging part. I’ve lost mine and i don’t wanna mess up my beautiful painting. Thank you!
Ive already added the hanging instructions to my second paint by numbers video here Paint by Number glitter ua-cam.com/video/CGxC4skUrqM/v-deo.html
Is personalised photo paint by number available?
I’ve seen a few around, haven’t painted any
Hi 🙋 Can one sell a completed 'paint by no.'piece of art? If so, how much for, and on what platform ? And what signature does one put on it?
I don’t know if one could sell it, I’d be comfortable gifting it
I like painting on the boards rather than canvas... but they are a little harder to find.
superb..
Thank you! Thank you 😊
My only problem with the Artist Loft kits are sometimes they come with some of the paints dried up.
I agree! Have you tried adding a few drops of distilled water and letting it sit overnight?
Where can I buy one of these kits?
There are a lot of Paint by Number kits available easily on amazon amzn.to/3rBzssS
Opened a paint that was dry
Ouch, that is so fun! Have you tried adding a few drops and letting it sit overnight!?
