Ma'am, according to the procedure in my book, for figure of merit we have to take different emf values in the battery eliminator i.e. 2,4,6 and 8, and find the values for each of them
It’s okay bcha u can take the different values of emf also like first set battery at 2v then 4v then 6v but in thé formula for figure of merit then you have to put value of Average E
Yes needle is showing deflection in 26 but it’s Ok bcoz half of theta will be 13 and needle also showing the same If theta is 20 then half of theta will be 10 ,needle automatically show half of theta when we removed a resistor from low resistance box.
You can removed 10k ohm also from the box ,you get slightly chng in the reading but sometimes if we increase more resistance suddenly then we didn’t get the right deflection

Why you use 2 resistor box ??
One is resistance box other one is shunt resistance box …the box which is connected in parallel is called as SHUNT
So,can we use Rheostat instead of High Resistance box.?
Mam, please check while u take the reading of galvanometer, the resistance if its varied wont the deflection change???

Ma'am wht is the emf of the cell for figure of merit ,k=E/(R+G)
I fixed the emf at 2 so you can fix the voltage in battery of your choice
