“Running is a prayer. When I am running, my feet are praying to Mother Earth. I’m breathing in Father Sky. Running is a celebration of life. When I run, I appreciate everything around me. Running is a teacher.”

I watch every Rich Roll podcast . Each show is full of potential, great heart & knowledge about something I didn't know, or knew very little about. This one is definitely going to to the top of the list. Thank you Rich.

Wow, this really was my favorite episode so far. I'm a walker, not a runner, but there is something in Sanjay's words that will make me rethink my attitude when I take my morning walks. Beautiful! I will watch this episode multiple times...and I'll definitely watch the movie. Thanks!

Thank you both for a very inspiring, enlightening and educational podcast. I have been to the beginning of many of the 3100-mile races and often kept up with the runners and amazing helpers online, but I never knew that these other cultures shared the philosophy of self- transcendence through running. I learned a lot about the movie from this interview and am anxious to see it. Thanks, Sanjay for making this film and sharing the beautiful philosophy that there are more things that unite us than separate us. Thank you Rich for inviting Sanjay to share with your listeners something very unique and inspiring.

I feel like I'm being CALLED back to running, as an extension to Deep Spirituality. My last marathon was in 1990. 60+ now, with a pacemaker in my chest. Discovered Sanjay and 3100 via Chatterjee, which directed me here. Thanks!

Hi Rich! You nonchalantly brought up the use of Pinole at minute 39 or so. I was so shocked by this! I had done a paper on the Native Americans of the San Francisco Bay Area when I was younger. They had spoken about the use of Pinole and I was blown away by the fact that I grew up in a town called Pinole. The reason it was named that is because it was the main staple of the people in the area. Anyways... Thanks for the awesome content as usual!

Listening to the history of these runs brings me back to the early 70's. Something people may not think much about is what kind of shoes these people were running in. I remember the beginning of running shoes, going into a basement store where they only sold Tigers. We were so excited to have these real running shoes.
After watching this I feel so supported in my own reasons for riding a bike. Every ride is a kind of "time trial" where it's only me and the mountain. I ride for beauty and meditation.

Thanks both of you for this eye-opening conversation! I don't think I will ever be able to run 3100 miles in 52 days, but it feels good to know there are people able to do it.
    Enthralling to say the least.

From the beginning of Sanjay's amazing film - the cinematography, the music, the stories of resilience, and spirituality, we all share the same, lasting message of discovery. Together, we cherish the sacred beauty of Mother Earth. All cultures unite on a path of peace, and self-transcendence, strengthening our heart. Your Breath, is the connections to the Heavens. Run Free

Blessings to you all. When we transcend, we rise above the fray of man-made limitations and allow ourselves to experience the boundless nature of universal love and knowledge. Just as gravity acts upon our physical bodies to hold us back from reaching the heavens, entering a state of transcendence allows us to overcome the gravitational forces of duality and judgements conceived in the mind, such that we may lift our spirits upwards and reconnect with the greater divine consciousness. The path of transcendence originates from the seed of self awareness, a recognition that there is a light beyond our own, that there are greater forces at work. Awakening happens to those who continue to foster their awareness by acknowledging their spiritual existence and by not shunning truths revealed before them through self-denial or secular distractions. Mindfulness is the discipline practiced in order to hone the manner in which we interact with the world, the living and breathing teachings of life. Once self mastery has become sufficiently elevated to allow ourselves to enter into a state of egolessness, do the doors of transcendence truly open, thus achieving the weightlessness of a truly ascendant spiritual being. Wishing everyone in your community a transformative journey . . . ua-cam.com/video/FEcPIE8qe4s/v-deo.html
