Thanks a lot for the tutorial. Worked nicely on my CSRA64215 working in I2S mode with an ES9023 DAC (Nobsound design). Even though the I2S lines are shared with SPI and used with an SN74LVC125A buffer/level translator to isolate the ES9023, it works fine just connecting the SPI signals on the solder points of the smaller BT daughter board. An important note though is that the full board also features power supply with LDOs. I didn't dare backsupplying these with 3.3V from the programmer and desoldering these are very hard to do without ruining other stuff - so no 3.3V is supplied from the programmer, but from another USB port. A bit dangerous due to possible differences in ground levels, but got lucky :-) Should have measured first, but didn't hehe

The first speaker I built with MDF on my channel, I'm not very proud of. Its a little rough with the vinyl wrap, it was really half assed lol. I usually get the speakers from my grandfather. He's an engineer at the University of Alabama and tells me when they're just throwing away stock. They literally throw away new unopened things... But the drivers from the light oak colored speaker came from a Harmon/Kardon 2.1 computer set. I really enjoy building these speakers but next year I am moving to England where my wife lives....I use my dads workshop with all his tools and equipment and I won't have any tools of any kind :(

When i connected it to the 8635 module, the signal was not looking good. Sometimes it was going from GND to ~1.8V and other times it was going from 1.8V to 3.3V. Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks.

Hi Darieee, is it possible to use either the CSR8635 or CSR8645 as a BT Transmitter? Im trying to make one of those BT transmitters with a 3.5mm input. Once I figure which chip to use, I plan to use a micro controller to send audio to multiple BT headphones. I'll connect 3-4 of the CSR transmitters and pair them to 3-4 BT headphones/ speakers. This is for a school project. Thanks

    • @Darieee
      @Darieee  6 років тому

That sounds like a rather challenging project
I don't think the 8645 / 8635s are powerful enough; the CSRA64215 however does have 2 high quality ADCs, and can thusly accept analog stereo
How to turn that into a transmitter ... is a firmware level challenge I think - for which tools are very sparse, and I've never had the need for (what software I do have I have posted in my CSR related videos - and if you want, I can send you my entire stash)
The way I would go about this, is buying a few types of Bluetooth transmitters off of aliexpress/ebay, and trying to reverse engineer them
In any case - if you manage to get stuff going, I would be very interested in your findings too ! (as I sure is the community gathered around these videos)

I managed to wire up the module to act as USB sound card, but this way it only outputs audio through its analog differential audio outputs. They made connections at "outL", "outR", and "agnd" which i can only assume is... audio ground? My board has connections labelled "L+", "L-", "R+", "R-", "mute", 3 blank ones, and then "m-" and "m+". I can't figure out which of my connections correlates to which of theirs. I also can't figure out where/how they intend to connect the green "bat" wire they added.

    • @Darieee
      @Darieee  3 роки тому

the link doesn't work on my end
they are using a single-ended signal - meaning ground & channels
what you have is a differential channel - meaning both channels get 2 wires which are all independent from system ground
you need to buy a csr8645 or csra64215 or qcc3008 board with a DC-DC isolating converter - those have a headphone amplifier on them which converts the differential signal into a single ended one

Hey there! At 6:32, do you mean I am supposed to connect jumper cables between V-VCC and G-GND? I am not sure what to do.... Or can I simply connect V to the 1v8 on the USB-SPI and the G to GND on the USB-SPI ?

    • @Darieee

Connect V to 3v3 and G to GND
What I mean is, and I mean all of the following for the CSR8645 Module, that the round pad marked V is directly linked to the outer hole marked BAT+
And that G is directly linked to GND
So you are free to solder to whichever is most comfortable :)

Have you connected yours to any speakers/headphones ? Given the module should SPEAKER A P and SPEAKER A N and for B as well ... I'd assume it does have one (my csr64215 module doesn't produce any output however .. for some reason)
Coming back to your question, it seems the CSRA64215 motherboard is exactly the same as for the CSR8635 (I've asked a few sellers to confirm this but the component layout in the CSR8635 seems 100% identical)

Ther are 2 Points im not sure if ive made it correctly.
    1. The SPI_EN is directly connected with the BAT+ (1.8v) ?
    2. It does not need the 5V from the normal connection points?
so basicly i just need to know how or wher to connect SPI_EN, BAT+ and GND. And if i need to use the normal VCC and GND Connections. Thanks.

SPI_EN can be connected to the 1v8 line (that is not the same as the BAT+ line, BAT+ should be around 3v3 or even 5v)
if you connect SPI_EN to anything more than 1v8, do so via a 10K resistor

But also - more importantly - I need one of the IO pins to go 1/0 accordingly to BT activity. Ie when BT is active I need the pin in log 1 and when BT is idle I want it 0. Any thoughts on where should I look in the config tool? Thanks and keep up the great work!

Glad I could help, I remember it took me half a year to source the corage and parts to rename the ones I had, can't let that happen to more people
Firstly, the CSR8635 and CSRA64215 (check the pinout) modules have an Amp_Enable pin which is a preconfigured IO pin that does exactly what you want
Otherwise you can go into the Config Tool and I'm quite sure you'll manage to find the IO section (I don't know this by heart especially since when I needed such functionality I was a bitch and programmed the LED light .. somehow that seemed easier at the time)
In any event, if you still can't et it working I can fire up my config tool and take a look myself
      Btw what project ?

Yes I saw it on CSR8635 pintou you attached to one of your vids and I was like yeah this is what I need! "Unfortunately" I have quite a few 8645's already so I want to utilize these. I'm building custom infotainment system for BMW car. It's a replacement to stock Central Information Display that is pretty old and can't do much. I ripped off original screen and fitted Android tablet. I'm building a dedicated ECU for the screen and one of the modules I want to implement is BT handsfree. Handsfree is supposed to provide "interrupt" signal to mute ordinary audio and swap audio source to phone. Along with BT handsfree it will host USB stick (as audio/video repository), reverse camera, atmega based watchdog (that will control clever power management, active CPU and battery cooling, control of GPS tracker etc etc), OBD interface and I still have one USB slot free. Maybe I'll try grab a little joystick and will try to emulate HID with arduino so I can control the tablet with mouse.

It is also connected to BMW's communication BUS and is listening to the messages and does some stuff accordingly (gps tracker arm/disparm, triggers alarm if door opens when armed, emulated CD changer so I can feed audio to car's head unit - inputs are only active when cd changer is present, I can detect ignition, write text on radio display etc :-)

However - if you really are on a tight budget - you may use are regular STDI adapter : github.com/lorf/csr-spi-ftdi/blob/master/README.md

Hey, I recently got a headphones which for some reason have equiliser enabled by default. I want to make it flat. Could you please help me with if I need to hook the 10k resistor in my case. On the headphone board ( which is already battery powered,) I have this pins - CSB, MOSI, MISO,CLK,GND1 and FCM ( which I don't know it's purpose)? All 5 even the FCM have white circle marks without the GND, so I guess are used. Thanks in advance.

Try first without connecting the FCM, and then try hooking up a 10K resistor between VDD and FCM ... usually the SPI_EN pin (which everyone names differently) is rated for 2v2 or something like that, but with a 10K resistor you can give it 5v as well

Alright - sorry for the late reply - this one went into the spam folder; is that the CSR8645 or the 8635 or something else ?

      Its a csr8635 on a tda7492p.
I added the pins and a 10k resistor (which I found in a broken portable stereo) for the csr config tool.

also i tried searching up on how the power supply works when using the config tool while its mounted on the amplifier and didn't find anything helpful so far.

I don't think I fully understand your power-supply question, but regarding powering the CSR8635 while it's being programmed, it'll have power from the programmer and it is NOT ADVISED to power up your amp during this process.
I've added two pinouts to the description of this video which should be all you need to get programming; connect MISO MOSI CSB CLK to the programmer, VBAT to 3v3 and GND to GND (the programmer has more grounds, all are the same - check if your csr8635 module has all grounds tied together, if not, just use the one on the lower right) AND also SPI_EN/SPI_PCM via the 10K resistor to 3v3
Let me know how it turned out (also, how good is the tda7492p amp ??)

      the tda7492p is pretty good.
so far I've tested up to three pairs of speakers and one of them is those wooden box type but not big and its pretty loud.
i can't test it now cuz its 8:24am.
      I'll make a vid when i can.

shame you couldnt respect the younger viewers and just for 15 minutes not use F word, is it really that hard

Fuck off, and fuck the younger viewers with swear-word intolerance
Is my 5 cents on this particular matter

Thx for vids! My USB/SPI adapter doesn't not have VS (voltage select). All my pins are different than yours. There's a 1V8 and 3V3 pins. Are those inputs or outputs? thx
