- Come with me to the hospital for surgery on my amputated (residual) limb!
After months of being on crutches and off of my prosthesis, I'll admit I've been really nervous heading into this surgery and my fingers were crossed they could address all the issues from the screw to the bursas...so how did it go? Come with me today to find out!

Fourteen years of pain and failed ankle surgeries brought me to 2018, when I made the difficult decision to become a twenty-seven-year-old below-the-knee elective amputee. This channel is to document my journey of amputation surgery, recovery, and reclaiming my life.
I’m not an amputee, but I’ve been following your story because I love your personality and your journey has been really educational and inspirational to me. I’m so glad Surgery went well, good luck on your recovery!!
same!
Saaame!
Same
Same!!
I love your hair and my 3 year old son saw a glimpse and said you look like a mermaid
Jo: “It is amazing how much energy it takes to like.. put words into words... into words when you’re this tired.”
Me: Okay, you need to rest😂
I thought the same thing. Poor girl ... go back to sleep.
Raven so true
Yay! I'm happy to hear things went well. You and Brian are such an amazing couple, seeing you hold hands as you drove to Denver was cuter than x100 kittens! Thank you for sharing, rest and take care!
Anesthesia makes me so emotional so I’m a wreck for anyone. Rest up sister. You got this. I know the weird things are frustrating
Footless Jo!
That iWalk 2.0 looks like it has been a total blessing! Meanwhile, stay strong darl!
love

Ya know...i gotta say it Jo ....you inspire me ...i love your openness and honesty about what you have been through ....yet you continue to push through ...sometimes with a smile on your face and sometimes with tears in your eyes ....that makes you a champion in my book ! 🌻💚🌻💚🌻💚🌻💚🌻💚🌻💚🌻💚🌻
My friend's hubby had a nasty reaction to anesthesia as well but he had chest pain from it... I hope you're not in too much pain or anything... Glad everything went well and hopefully smooth sailing ahead. Rays of sunshine being sent your way 🌞
Thank you for the update and get well soon.
Thanks for sharing your journey with us all. Wishing you the best recovery in the history of history!
So glad to see you, make sure you do take it easy and do not worry about videos just focus on your recovery, soon you will be walking on your prosthetic before you know it and I am so happy for you. Still going to send my love and prayers for a speedy recovery ❤️❤️
Happy healing
I really hope you hold Smashburger accountable for your fall! How terrible! I'm so sorry this happened.
Hooray Jo! I'm so glad that you're doing great and that the bursas are OUT THE DOOR!🤟🏻 My amputation is in a week and a half and I'm soooo excited! I'm slowly starting to get things packed and ready to go... Unfortunately we found out that I've developped stones on my gallbladder (most likely caused from stress and alot of painmeds). But I'm okay!!! I'll be having my gallbladder removed after the amputation so hopefully there will be no issues with that! Sending you the warmest of hugs and a smooth recovery!!! You'll be in my thoughts when I undergo my own amputation💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
I'm glad everything went well. Take your time getting through your busy, busy resting schedule. I wish you quick and uncomplicated healing!
Get well soon, your positivity is infectious. Thank you for sharing your journey.
Wish you a quick recovery. I hope you are in better position now to heal completely. Glad you have this behind you! You have been though enough!!
No more Smash Burgers Jo until you are fully fitted in your new prosthesis!! Rest and feel better soon!!☺️

Jo take time to let yourself heal we're all thinking of you, be well.x
Did you ever consider pursuing liability for the fall? It sounds like they weren’t really very concerned about health and safety
AsHLiegH-MaRie HoPe I was thinking the same. But what if they had signs up?
Sending healing energy your way Jo ♥️

So so so glad for this update. I had been too busy to watch your latest videos. Hope you are feeling better now!
Found ur page by accident but so glad I did! Ur awesome and thanks so much for sharing ur journey with us. I have CRPS due to an ankle/foot injury 6yrs ago and it’s completely destroyed my foot.Constant pain and haven’t been able,to wear shoes for years -only slippers for a short time since any sensation is excruciating. Amputation is a big possibility for me b/c the pain and necrosis is too much to bear after all this time. Your videos are helpful for me at this stage-I’m hopeful but concerned about what happens after amputation. Please keep the videos coming and thanks again-Wishing u all the best going forward🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙂🙂🙂
May you have a complete and speedy recovery!
Be well keep moving forward you are so amazingly strong!
Thanks for the update. It’s fantastic to hear things are going in such a positive direction. Hope the rest is going well!
Get well soon Jo. Thanks for the update.
Thanks for the update! Sending get-well hugs and happy thoughts your way.
Thank you so much Austin!!!
You’re an amazing and an inspiration to us all. Godspeed to healing towards a regular life again ♥️🙏🏻♥️🙏🏻
You’re a huge inspiration for me. Thank you for sharing your story with us. 🖤 I’m so happy everything is getting better for you.
When I was about 11 my stump was not growing straight, so I had to have it straightened. This required 4 separate surgeries! The had to break the bone then put screw in it. I was in a cast for something like 5 months.
At one point I was in the kitchen on crutches and one of the crutches slipped and I fell hard right on the end of my stump.
This was, by fat, the most painful thing that has ever happened to me.
Later, at summer camp I slipped playing on some rocks. My hand slipped into a space between two rocks it didn't stop my fall. I watched as my arm bent sharply between my elbow and wrist. That hurt a lot but not nearly as bad as falling on my stump.
It has been nearly 30 years since I fall on my stump, but when you mentioned falling on your stump it sent a chill up my spine and made me break out in a cold sweat.
So glad your surgery went well. With luck you'll be able to hike the Grand Canyon by summer.
Congrats, I've had multiple surgeries and I know how crappy you tend to get from the anesthetic, so props!👍👍
So glad everything went well and they were able to remove the screw.
I'm not surprised surgery knocks the wind out of you. Its trauma. Controlled trauma, but trauma none the less.
Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Hope you are feeling better! Sending love and thoughts of healing!
Prayers for a amazing and painless recovery
Thank you for your story! Good luck with your recovery.

Wow this all sounds great!! Good luck with your recovery and healing and look forward to hearing from you when you're able!! Xx
Your story (ongoing) is really interesting. It has a bit of movie drama to it. That said, you are a true star quality heroine! I cannot imaging having to deal with what you are dealing with! It truly is impressive how you are handling this! Someday you will look back and all the struggle will fade away. Go Get em!
Awesome strength!👍👊 thanks for the inspiration for me to keep fighting...keep well and speedy recovery!✌⚘
Hoping for a speedy recovery for you. I've been enjoying watching your journey and I hope you're able to reach a stable and pain-free state soon. I love how even through the challenges and pain, you are able to keep a level head, stay realistic and positive, and accept whatever comes your way. Stay strong Jo!
Glad the surgery went well and hope you feel like yourself soon! You’re doing great!
Happy everything went well for you!! 💕
I've only had anesthesia once but I was the same way. Felt like i was hit by a bus for about 2 days afterwards and then exhausted for a week. And that was just for my wisdom teeth. Take all the rest time you need. Sending healing energies your way!
Best of luck as you heal! Your story definitely helps give me perspective, thanks for sharing.
Keep your head up. Remember that God has got you. No worries about anything as long as he is with you and he always is. ❤️
Feel better soon
So glad you are doing well. Keep doing well and rested :)
Hope everything continues to go well! 🤞
You appear to be doing great... so happy for you.. No falls... and you will be running in no time..
Resting is an underrated skill. Go for it my friend. Heal and be well. Prayers. 💜
I agree , 48 hours is accurate for my experiences. I have had surgery 14 times in my 60 years and that first 48 hours has always been a bummer ! You are an inspiration to all who watch you . You show how to overcome adversity and advocate for your own health and bodily well being ! Hope this time is the last !
I'm so happy your surgery was successful. I know how tough it can be to stay positive but you have a wonderful attitude. The Amputee Coalition National Conference is in San Antonio, TX this July. I hope you can make it!
Get well soon and hope it works for u this time 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I always got my hair and nails done before my five knee surgeries. I figured a lot of people would be looking at my feet, so my toes needed to look pretty. I totally get why you curled your hair!
God bless you both Jo! Wish I’d have known where you were and when you were up here in Denver, I’d have come to see you guys! I live in Highlands ranch so it’s not far from me. Anyway thank you for sharing! Peace and love always!
Praying for you and you will be in my thoughts!!!!
Hey Jo, I came across your channel by accident (thanks UA-cam). I recently had surgery and have been using the iWalk like you. Just wanted to say that I love your positive attitude and humour! All the best in your recovery.
So sorry to hear about the accident. Hope your ok now
Stay strong 💪 you will over come this bump in the road ! 🙏
Hope all turns out well for you now. All the best for the future
wow you are incredibly brave, hope you have a fast recovery :D
I'm so glad they were able to remove both bursa's. Now, after you heal, nothing is going to stop you!!
Omg that’s great! Hope you feel better soon :D
Aww, so glad you’re doing well 💕 Cozy up, pamper yourself, drink some camomile tea and relax! Sending you lots of love and healing prayers ❤️🌷🌻
LittleLulubee awww thank you so much!!! 💕💜 By the way I got your card and sent you one back right before surgery!! 😀 I’ll absolutely follow your orders and drink tea and relax today 😉
YAY, I can't wait to read it!! 😀 Here's your cup o' tea ☕️🍭 Have a nice, restful day! 😘
I’m so glad surgery went well! I honestly wasn’t expecting to hear from you again so soon! I’m glad you’re feeling well enough to vlog. Get lots of rest. Love and prayers for fast healing are coming your way.
glad you are doing better.
You are awesome, and we’ve all got your back!
Thank you for sharing your experience. I wish I could be as strong as you. I'd still be a basket case! 👏👏👏
I've been thinking about you. Glad to hear things went well. Take care of you.❤
Glad to see that the surgery went well!
Glad youre doing well! And youre pretty no matter what!!!! Sending healing and loving thoughts your way!!!
Awww, So sorry you feel like hammered poop. When I had my eye surgeries, (Cataracts both sides and retina fixes both sides), I came straight out of anesthesia, pop-bang I was up. No residuals, nothing. I went from being asleep to being fully awake in .75 seconds. Re-orientation took a bit longer, but I was fully awake to do it very fast. I have no idea if this is normal or not, I've never told anyone about it before. You're the first. Take all the time you need to get better, I will mention you to my Higher Power, (hereafter called HP), and ask you to be wrapped in white healing light for as long as you need it. Get better. Sent with love to you both, George B
