    Car debt will ruin your life. Most Americans never retire because of credit cards and car loans. Please young people, wait until you can pay cash or get a sub 2% loan. Don't destroy your future for a car. Save and invest. One day you'll have a dream collection. I can afford any car I want but drive a Tacoma and 35 year old fairlady z. Yes, I want a new Porsche. But long-term wealth is more important.

    • @fullyuki
      @fullyuki 3 дні тому +55

      Sub 2% interests don't exist anymore sadly, and not many people can just casually pull out 5 to 6 digits of cash to pay for a cool car in full. I agree with the notion that don't get crushed by debts, but I also think that people should try to at least enjoy the moment before they edge themselves into retirement and when they can finally afford that dream car they don't have the same energy to enjoy it anymore. I think the better way is to budget yourself so that you can have a reasonable monthly payment while still being able to save money towards investment or saving's account every month. People usually get crushed by loans because they buy something that's completely out of their price range.

    • @11BscoutNG
      @11BscoutNG 3 дні тому

      @@Bobdabuilder-nn6npbob Do you know how to read? I have the money. I choose to invest in real property and the market, so I can continue to travel the world and retire early, build a collection of dream cars. I currently have 4 paid-off cars, including a track car, and am about to buy a house on the French Riveria to increase my portfolio. Why? Because I didn't have $1500 car payments in my 20s. I will probably swing for a Porsche in 5-10 years, but it won't be any more fun than my Fairlady Z. Enjoy being like everyone else, drowning in debt, and working on the Walmart floor until you are 91. I'm sure it's worth not being boring. Or you can buy a reliable bang-for-your-buck sports car and not ruin your life. You only live once. Why ruin it before you've even started?

    • @11BscoutNG
      @11BscoutNG 3 дні тому +17

      @@fullyuki We are basically saying the same thing, but I still think any car loan is a bad idea if you can avoid it. Why not save up and buy in cash? That being said, if you don't buy out of your price range, then yes it can work. I am all about enjoying life now, but you can do it smartly. Debt destroys lives. Also, sub-2% will be back sooner than later for those of us with good credit.

I'm about to buy an investment property on the French Riviera. Kids who ruin their lives with car debt can't afford to travel to France. But if you want to work as a Walmart greeter when you are 91, good luck to you. I also have a C5 Corvette, 2 tricked out off-road vehicles, and a Fairlady Z track car. All paid off. as a younger person who continuously buys cars, the only regret i have, is knowing that i could have a large sum of money in my personal investments, i could retire so rich
    but instead i blow money on cars LMAOOO, but its SO FUN.
    I drive all my cars like i stole them, i still floor them all the time, i personally NEVER got tired or used to the performance of my cars, i drive them way more insane than i imagined i would (probably shouldnt!)
    anyways, the only thing to consider when buying your dream car is. Can you buy it in cash? if yes then continue to question 2
    and is it worth the compounded interest that you could make if you invested the money. (any 40k car would be worth nearly 200k in 20 years in a traditional roth ira at 8 percent)
    if you answered NO to either of those 2 questions, you should NOT buy the car. financial literacy is important, wait 20 years and you can have all the cars you want and more because youll be nearly retired.
    being financially blessed at a young age can turn into a lifetime of wealth or a lifetime of poverty, it all depends on how you manage your money.
    the point about whats next is valid tho, im literally about to buy a third car because i keep wanting more and more LMAO

    Mostly depends how many cars you can actually fit into your garage. In other words, you can have a daily Prius, and a weekend Chiron (if we all can afford) but the point is, every car is made to be different. For me, my dream car is the charger with the hemi. I treat it well and never do burnout or anything. My dream dream car is the koenigsegg regera (if I have that kind of cash) but I like driving my charger, I don’t care if it’s not the best. You like it because you want to drive it and be part of your garage. You may think it won’t be the same as it was, but at least you accomplished it and I like how you mentioned “what’s next”. Me, I do my best to like my car, I don’t want to go crazy, I want to enjoy it more. Hope this understands

    Bought my dream car at 24. It was a project I did with my Dad - to find and buy this car for me. We bought it last year in late September/early October.
    I never regretted it - sure its thirsty but I think that just adds to the car's personality.
    My dad just passed away in August - I dont know if he knew he was going to go but I know that my dream car wouldnt have been possible without him - and now its one of the few things I have left from him. That car will never leave my side and I would never trade it for anything else.
    I hope you find what you're looking for - but its about building a relationship with your car, because no car is perfect.

    Bought a brand new manual mustang when I turned 18. It was beautiful.
    The payments were $400 (because of a large down payment) and insurance was around $350/mo. It was ridiculous. Oh and premium gas only.
    I realized quickly that noooo body cares about your car, and being young means everyone around you is jealous and assumes your parents paid for it, some of it, or at least the insurance or something.
    But I just want to say I KNOW the desire and impulsive thought process. BUT it's financially irresponsible to buy a new car at a young age - SAVE YOUR MONEY.
    Look at the S&P500 from 6 years ago to now - if you spent $45k on stocks (+$5k on a beater w/ repairs) OR $50k on a nice car, you'd notice the $50k car is now worth $20k and your $45k stocks are worth $90k!!!
    Don't fall victim to those intrusive "yolo, I may die tomorrow, I can afford it now" kinds of thoughts. I had them too, buying brand new sport bikes and jetskis and all sorts of crap just because I was making good money. Trust me it's not worth it, I'm just as happy in my older 2000s jetski than I was in a brand new 2017 jetski.
    True wealth is looking at every single car around you, knowing you could buy 99% of the cars around you BRAND NEW, IN CASH, TODAY if you wanted to, but earning interest on the money instead.
    Rant over. tldr don't blow your money on things that are depreciating in the thousands per year. Save and invest. You'll thank yourself very soon.

    Red C7 Z06 here, I want to clarify something. People don't cut you off to be rude, they just don't see you. I thought this at first too, it was weird how in the Z06 everyone lets me in when I signal during rush hour or is super courteous but at the same time I was getting blatantly cutoff randomly. It turns out they didn't even see me, most people have their mirrors wrong and angled in so much that you are invisible when close to them. A good indicator of whether or not that person sees me is if I am behind them, and I look at the drivers' side mirror and I can see their eyes, then I know they have their mirrors wrong (about 80% of people around here) and they WILL not see me if I am next to them or a little bit behind them, as when they go to blind spot check, especially in an SUV or Truck, the Z06 is below their door even.

    My all time dream car is a 1970 3rd generation Chevy Nova because I’ve been to several classic car shows with my grandfather and from a very young age I feel in love with the style of cars from the 50s to the 70s. My grandfather has a 1956 Ford F100 and whenever he goes out to work on it with his friends I always joined him. I guess my love for the Chevy Nova stemmed from my grandfather giving me a toy model of the car and over time I slowly started to develop a desire to own one. I would also love to own my grandfather’s truck but he probably won’t let it go any time soon because it was also his father’s truck before him.

    Great video, especially the last points. Cars are awesome, and I get a lot of enjoyment from mine, but all feelings are temporary and they do pass. There's times where I love the sound and feeling of my Mercedes V8's, and there are times when I'm flat, tired, down, stressed etc and they just feel like inanimate physical objects.
    Also eunning costs, maintenance and repairs are all stuff you need to factor in, prepare for and be able to afford. Running a great car or two is a financial responsibility.
    Thankfully the joy always comes back, and the reward is always there, but its worth remembering that cars aren't YOU. They won't make you instantly a cooler or better person.

    I watched this although having had some of my dream cars this didn't necessarily teach me but was rather fun to watch to relate with. The attention thing is absolutely true and it hits hard sometimes. Stress is only there if you are not comfortable with the bills, so it should not be to big of a scratch. I have realized driving cars below my budget is a lot of fun because I own the car, not the other way around. If the tire blows, or it needs a service, you scratch it etc. you just need to be like "no big deal". The last point though I cannot agree with, you will see this with your car probably later on or once you go into the really big league, the exclusive exotic super cars. They do change you as a person, you are more confident as a person knowing you own this stuff. It is no longer a dream but a reality, also for me a bit of the personality of each car robbed off on me. Eventually you go into a McLaren dealership without needing to be arrogant or trying to be nice. You know you belong here and the cars are there to have fun not to proof something. This changes you in your job and personal life. It builds character, depending of course on how you process these emotions. Thanks for the video - great idea & much appreciated! Cheers and greetings from Germans Autobahn.

    Good video! Relatable and accurate in many cases. Got my R35 and experienced a lot of the things described. Not as young as you, but there's definitely that inexplicable feeling of anxiety (small) but there. I think that happens when it's a car you've idolized for a long time. These cars are not your average car, obviously, and require a lot of upkeep. Even if you're in a good financial place to maintain them, they still evoke some small feeling of stress and responsibility. A bit difficult to explain but I get you.

    if i get my dream car first, personally it’s also the C7 Z06 which i plan on getting soon, then if i get bored eventually i can sell it and buy into like a ZL1 camaro and experience it n just keep repeating that cycle of getting different fun cars you enjoy that all pack a different and unique punch during driving

    Luckily I've considered the 3/5 things in this video, even though i'm in high school and don't have my own car yet, I do understand these 5 things that you would need to know. My dream car personally is the GTR R35, looks too good . Congratulations on the car as well man🔥🔥❤❤

    Once you get a little older, you realize that there are a lot more important things in life than what you drive. Material possessions altogether will stop bringing you much joy eventually, and you start to appreciate utility value far more than "cool factor". If you think a car is gonna change your life, then I say get it while you're young. Get that stuff out of the way early in life, because your priorities will change later and you won't even want that expensive depreciating asset later on down the line.

    I work a 9-5 and i own a 1996 VW Golf mk3. I love that thing. My dream car is a pre-facelift VW Corrado G60 or Vr6. But i know, i don't want to sell my Golf, i love it too much, so i gotta have two cars at the same time, which is kinda complicated at a young age here in germany because of taxes and stuff.. I also would need a garage which is hard to obtain here too, except if you have or live in a house which is insanely expensive and basically impossible if you are working a basic retailer job. Kinda ass all in all but i am gonna keep grinding until i can park that Corrado next to my Golf 😊

    A great way to not get bored is to make small mods little by little. Even a cheap mod like interior lights will get you hyped up to drive it for a while, and especially engine mods.

    I got my dream car at 31, and what really makes me sad is that I drive very safely. I never break the law and I never had a ticket before with my old VW, but now I receive tickets for things that I didn't do just because I can afford a car. Mr. Police Officer, with a $1,000,000 house loan, can't afford one because he is paying for his house.

      Invest in a radar detector. You will know when and where to have fun. Open backroads and late night highway drives are the time. Rush hour and lunch traffic are no gos. 🫡

    Yeah back when I bought my M2 I def got the negative attention experience you’re talking about. Now I drive a 2023 Nissan Z (manual) and I still experience it. The Good attention outweighs the bad attention but I just don’t understand why people go out of their way to do things like randomly thumbs me down while I’m cruising , saying my car is trash etc I would never do that to people

    I've always wanted a Corvette. Used to be a c6 ZR1, then a c7 Z06, now a C8 E-ray. Once the E-ray is twin turbo'd by Boost District, I want to get an LC500 or trade my GS350 in for whatever the next gen LS is. Enjoy that Vette brotha 🙏🏾

    super unique video! I've never seen anyone else really talk about this. This is a stark contrast to niche cars like my first gen SC300. While I'm at meets with the hood popped its not uncommon for a crowd to form around my car but on the public road nobody gives a crap cuz its a dark green old person car.

    I’ve owned my challenger scat pack shaker for 7 months now and I could not be happier with it, I do get alot of compliments and a few mean looks and threats about it, but everytime I drive my buddy’s mustang or any other car all I can think about is getting back into my challenger, it’s also my attainable dream car, my all time dream car is a 1971 Plymouth hemicuda convertible but last I checked those were worth a few million so I have a lot of work to do before I can afford one of those, but for now there isn’t any other car I rather have, even if the hellcat is faster and louder they don’t have that shaker that I love so much, if dodge didn’t include the shaker I would’ve absolutely wanted a hellcat as a attainable dream car, that was my dream car until I drove a scatpack shaker

    Mine was the M4, I did end up getting it and can relate exactly to what you are saying.. after awhile the car just sits and being a content creator consumes a lot of time., so I can only imagine on your end..
