I love watching your videos. Can you tell me why you slow or stop the line on the reel when you cast? It seems like you are almost stopping it when the lure hits the water?
Thank you for the comment and the nice words brother! Honestly this is just something I do automatically as I used to be a carp fisherman and feathering the cast was very important then. During shore jigging it is not that important, unless there is wind and you want the jig to straighten out the bow in the line so that you can easier control it during the drop to feel any bites on the drop.
i just lost a probably amberjack today cause im new at spinning i hae a 20-50 cw rod paired with okuma tomcat 6000 reel with 14 kg of drag and 0.25mmdaiwa j braid paired with 0.50mm mono my question is is my setup underpowered for fish up to 15 kg cause i used a popper today of 24 grams length of 10 cm and the fish cut me of on some rocks i felt helpless and i loosened the drag too much so it went to the bottom what could have i done better not to lose that fish anyway love from greece! oh and to mention i have already lost two 3 to 4 kg mahi mahi but the feeling was not near as close to what i lost today im still shocked and in mystery of what fish it could be
Sorry to hear that you lost it. Yeah a really strong fish makes us very humble and we start thinking about using really heavy tackle and not having fun with smaller fish or using medium gear which is fun with most catches, but risk losing a really big fish. Thank you for the comment brother!
What grams of jigs did you use in this kind of strong currents? I want to get sg6 30-100 and max good working is 80g slim jig and I am a bit scarred that I wont be able to fish well with currents. What do you think? Thank you
Hi man! 80g is usually enough in most currents unless the water is very deep and the current very strong. I use 100g quite often, but that is many times because I like to use a bigger silhouette. In this video tho the needle jig is only 60g.
I hade that guys when they left nets along the coast. And now, I try every morning , change different places and lures, a lot of attempts to catch a barracuda in Cyprus, but I can't get even any bites , they always take all fish from nets! Including a baby size 😮😮😮😢 and there are no fish near Cyprus, unfortunately.
Haha yes, it would be a bit difficult for the fish to swim back with a big hole through the body, but im sure I will find a solution that works in the future. Thanks for the comment man!
@NicodaFishing if we can go together i will learn something from a very good fisherman,i am also in malta whereever you want we can go, not in your spot.. im asking to you becouse I approached shore jigging for a very short time.. and you are one of the UA-camrs for whom I made this choice..
Thank you for your comment! I appreciate your suggestion, it is a bit difficult for me to plan any trips as I always go when I find free time before I start work in the morning. But, I would be more than happy to have a chat if you see me out on the cliffs! Tight lines brother!

Hi, what jig wallet do you use?
Hey! I think I it is called jig bag or jig wallet 60-150g by Savage gear.
@ thanks!
Nice lampuka
Yes, it was a fun surprise! He had about 4 friends with him as well when I tried to net him.
Nice man its weird this year with the mahi i shaw them 2 months ago as i was getting an amberjack out and after that nothing
From what I understand, they love really warm water so I think we will be seeing them longer in to the winter in the future.

It is really sad when it becomes like that.. hopefully one day we will have a more sustainable commercial fishing! Tight lines brother!
I am suggesting to you to change to gaff, but you catch and relase, so that is not solution
Haha yes, it would be a bit difficult for the fish to swim back with a big hole through the body, but im sure I will find a solution that works in the future. Thanks for the comment man!
Ended up going last Saturday, session cut short, rod snapped/exploded when i was setting the hook on a bite. 😢
That is wild, I am really, really sorry to hear that man!
When switching to accura 100h? 😄
That will happen exactly when zenaq decides that they want to sponsor me, which will probably be a decade from now! 😂
@NicodaFishing mhh they don't support in general, as they're a luxury brand with limited rod series...
I will have to get in to the right mode by watching boiler room, pick up the phone and ABC! Hello Mr Zenaq, Give me rods and money, thanks!
Man you are in malta???
Yes sir!
