When Andy entered the same room as Christos in the Palace of Darkness after nearly an hour of route diversion, I got so hype.
I never saw this before, but if you check at 1:58:05, you see both Andy and Christos give each other a nod and fistbump. I always wondered why the audience did a kind of half-hearted clap and now I see why - I think a few noticed this gesture and wanted to acknowledge the sportsmanship between the two.
To clarify, 'No Glitches' just refers to the Randomizer's seed generation logic. When this setting is selected when a seed is generated the Randomizer will not account for the glitches one can pull to get to an area earlier than expected or outside of what a normal player can do in the game. It has nothing to do with the race's ruleset itself.

Yes, it didn't "change category mid-game", the rules were always meant to be "glitchless seed, NMG players" as is usual for ALTTP Randomizer runs and races.
"No Glitches Logic" means simply no glitches are required to win. The name is good and succinct.
Was confused when they mentioned the fake flippers with that on screen...
This was one of the best GDQ races I've seen. Both runners have never played this particular seed before even though they ran the same seed, and there was no way to tell who was in the lead since they took slightly different routes and everything was randomized. Awesome watching this live.
If there is no way to tell who is in the lead where is the tension? The competition

Well they have to have mastery over the game itself, know small glitches to try and get ahead...and do it swordless.
I love how after doing entirely different things for most of the run they both converged in PoD and were suddenly only half a room apart.
There was no way to tell who was in the lead? Huh? What do you mean? Andy was running, that basically sealed the results from frame 0.
Not an Andy fanboy I genuinely want him to lose a race ever but he seems incapable of losing.
I love how, at 1:53:53, Andy and ChristosOwen just look at each other and notice they're not playing the game, then nod at each other like "Yeah, we both got our last crystal at the same time"
Amazing race, I'd love to see this again in future GDQs.

I’ve never seen a randomizer run before and now This is my favorite GDQ run after that famous four way Super Metroid race
Should check them out. Randomizers have been gaining popularity recently and it's kinda cool. Just note that I think the one for A Link to the Past is one of the better optimized Randomizers as the logic tries its very best to not generate an impossible seed.
God I love Paty. Please commentate for every GDQ run from now until the rest of time.
I started watching LTTP randomizer races during SpeedGaming's latest tournament, and I'm hooked. So glad to see two of the better runners in the community doing a race for AGDQ.
This is seriously one of the most amazing speedruns I've ever seen! The commentators were incredible, and the whole speedrun itself was super entertaining!

As a passionate chess player I appreciate that there is a variant that's basically a randomizer. Chess960 (a.k.a. Fischer Random) is where the pieces behind the pawns are in random places at the beginning of the game (except king must always be between the two rooks [so one can castle either side like in the normal chess] and the two bishops must be in different colored squares). This forces the players to start planning and form strategies from the first move without having openings memorized (since there's 960 different possible opening positions, it's not really feasible to come up with and learn opening sequences for each of them). It's the most popular chess variant besides normal chess and even the top players of the world compete each other in serious tournament settings with this variant more and more. Chess960 could be THE future for chess, since it's pretty daunting to learn many opening deeply in normal chess in order to be successful. Learning openings is NOT fun.

I'm still loving these Andy/Patty runs.
Even better, after the first hover, Andy catches him looking and pops the Cheshire Cat grin, as if to say, "Yes, I am up to my usual shenanigans. You know exactly where, too. You know what I do."
I mean, Andy has to slide his fingernails across the A-button, which would be quite easy to notice even in your peripheral vision.
So, yeah, Chris definitely noticed that.

How good this run was: I was already half-asleep after a short time watching the run way to late in the night, but suddenly I was wide awake and not able to quit and finished the entire thing. And now even leaving a comment about that.
While I wasn't the one who donated with the comment concerning it, I would *love* to see an Open Keysanity run at a GDQ.
What is Keysanity, you may ask? Well, picture this: take the idea that all of the regular items are mixed around...and then add in every single chest-laden small key, big key, compass, *and* map from every single dungeon in the game, also mixed around. With the added benefit of still not requiring forced glitches to complete the game.
@Khaeldranis you can't really give an ETA for that type of thing and would need to be able to have a note pad
I can't help but wonder what Andy thought of all this heckling after the fact.
Just watch other GDQ runs of his with Patty in the background. He arguably finds it funnier than most. Andy is very ticklish it seems, :P

i want to say this is one of the only races i've really enjoyed since the commentary was both good and the game was a bit slower paced so it was possible to watch both screens at once

I know it's been a while since this happened but during the run the couch was talking about the possibility of the Mad Batter having hammer and how much of a nightmare that would be. Well currently I am playing alttp+sm randomizer and the bad luck has come to pass because according to my spoiler log that is exactly what I have.

The commentators were the icing on the cake. Their jokes and moreover professional explanations had a quality similar to major sport event commentators, I´m serious about that!

Incredible race! I'm glad the randomizer was part of AGDQ this year and I hope it will also be the case later on. It's a nice way IMO to end the event when there is no Super Metroid race scheduled. And who knows, maybe one day there will be a randomizer for more games (another Zelda... or Metroid maybe?) and it could become the new run to look forward to in AGDQ each year.

The Ice Rod is in the Tower of Hera. I think the trouble you're having is that you don't need the three Pendants to enter the Tower of Hera, you can enter with just the seven Dark World dungeon crystals.

Might be related to the fact my friends and I once buried a pineapple on a common (hidden off the path, but with the stalk sticking out), we returned a couple of days later and found the pineapple was stolen - think I now know who took it!

Amazed that no one linked you to what is inarguably the best run that Patty has commentated (and also one of the best runs at any GDQ event, period). Check out Bonesaw's run of Jak and Daxter, by far the hardest I've laughed from any speedrun

"Glitchless" is in reference to the randomizer's item placement logic algorithm. In No Glitches logic, items are all placed such that they can be accessed using bog standard vanilla mechanics. Bomb jumping, hovering, all that fancy tech is not guaranteed to not be required - even dark room navigation is excluded. Hardly anyone actually plays truly glitchless - even casuals like me do the block pushing glitches. There are other logic modes that incorporate increasingly complex glitch magic that result in increasingly absurd amounts of bullshit being required to get items in the planned progression order.
No Major Glitches is a ruleset used in speedrunning and randomizer races that bans certain kinds of insane glitch-fu that's technically possible within the game, but goes WAY outside of what is intended. I think the rule of thumb is basically regarding teleportation glitches and such, where you're skipping entire rooms or dungeons, which is why hovering doesn't count - you're still actually going through the rooms. This is the ruleset that's actually binding on a runner qualifying for the speedrun or race in that category - there's other categories with less restrictive rules, of course.
Of course, for a charity event like this, it'd be entirely reasonable for players of different skill levels to make a gentleman's agreement to not do specific glitches that the less skilled player can't perform, in order to make a more balanced and fair run, which is what the couch was commenting about regarding Andy's use of the hover glitch. Of course, with that particular couch, it's also entirely reasonable to assume that the guys on the couch were messing around, because....it's AGDQ, of course they're going to mess around.
