I finally got a silverado 1500 4x4 2001 frame is basically mint almost I bought it from a guy for 2000 dollars it had 263'00 it now has 265'00 and still runs like it came from the factory it has the 5.3 v8 and it's a for wheel drive I love it
It's funny, that the composite box on GMC is still being pushed today - but the ProTec was actually tough on the OUTSIDE, resisting dents as well. Even has selectable shock damping option. Interesting they kind of sneaked the 1500 crew cab in as a LD 3/4 ton with the same frame. Arguably this was the peak of Chevy trucks. Then came AFM, then Ecotec. The '19-21s are gaining infamy on a daily basis.
The Carbon Pro is the one they offer now, which is a carbon fiber composite inside structure, but still steel outer panels. GM should have gone Protec style as the standard box years ago as that would have dropped the costs fast.
I have a 2000 Silverado LT it has 189,000 miles on it the truck is rust free like new inside and out I will have this truck forever Chevrolet built it right

Growing up, I learned that America was great because it took care of its people and produced reliable cars. My dad owned a Chevy Silverado, which we fondly called "Our Rock". This truck brought my family together and showed me the importance of strength and perseverance. I aspire to be just as strong as my hero - my dad. And I believe that my son can be even better than me, a true beast.

I never even knew that GM offered a composite box prior to today's Carbon Pro option on the GMC trucks... I always thought that it was smart of Toyota to have their plastic/composite box on the Tacomas, and never understood why more manufacturers didn't offer it, as it makes a lot of sense. I've seen tons of these first-gen Silverados but I've never personally seen one with this ProTec box. It must have been exceedingly rare.
I have this 01-2002 2500hd body style, and I love it! W/6.0L 142k miles 4wd crew cab short bed! Very solid chevy, it moves that 6.0 does move I wish it had a med hp type camshaft in it that's about all it needs at this point! Yep.....I feel like Chinese food today! Ok people.....
Few years ago I had a black on black 01 Silverado 1500HD with 250K miles 4x4 the engine was making a bad noise and hydro boost needed to be rebuilt but it was my work truck and was all I had. I STOLE IT for $1700 in Dallas in 2019 and sold it a year later for $6000 after I cleaned her up and made her look NICE !! LMAO then same day I went back to same wholesale dealer and got me a 08 Silverado crew cab 4.8 for $7000 cash with 135K miles !!! Had it for 2 years and sold it for $9000

2002 with the 4.8 and 5speed. I love it and it has given me no trouble
How's your gas mileage in your truck?
That front end looks way better than the butt ugly current 2021 model. In my opinion the 2014 and 2015 was the last good looking model year
I prefer the 99-02 front clip over the cat-eye 03-07 front clip. You’re right though, they do look better than modern ones.
Absolutely positively love mine I’ll never get rid of it, but damn nothing on earth rusts quite like these
They all rust man. Not just limited to these. Wish they would use beet juice instead of straight salt. Excellent trucks though.

2000 chevys are so dope

my 2000 silverado has 342k on it and unfortunately the rocker panels have started rusting out but i don't plan on getting a new truck anytime soon
I like how they're talking about the Protec bed but showing an OBS truck.
