The Bajaj Qute promises to be a step up over a traditional Auto-rickshaw. It is being launched as a quadricycle, which is the size of the three-wheeler, but with a steering wheel and doors. What it definitely is not, is a potential replacement for an entry-level passenger car. But to succeed the age-old auto-rickshaw, it has to be cheap to buy, run, maintain and be as practical in terms of carrying passengers as a three-wheeler. Can it deliver?

This makes you realise what a great product Tata Nano was. Too bad it was a victim of negative publicity. I drove one for 4 years, ~50K KMs and my dad then bought a newer model in exchange. She still stands strong - what an engineering marvel. My love for Nano will prevail. 😉

Nano was the worst car ever everything about it was crap high and stiff peddles driving it was a real pain to the feet
Nano was a good car... If it was sold for around 1.8 to 2 lakh... the earlier version were cheapest..The newer version were as expensive as Alto and failed to deliver the same comfort as Alto.. so for the same budget people would definitely prefer alto over nano.

I seriously don't understand why Tata never tried to enter the Commercial space of replacing autos with Nano. It has a much better build quality, more space, its compact, has AC and even more power if you need it. They had always been in similar price bracket probably just didn't want it to lose its value to the 5-10 personal car buyers they have. Even today they should be a more bang for buck purchase compared to Qute.
Same reason why Mahindra didnt do it , its not a working model
Both have different regulations and criteria. They made a commercial car. Not a quadricycle or something. They can come with a quadricycle version now, but because of the negative publicity I didn't think they would.

A Nano would be definitely a better buy than this ugly little "cute" ! The Nano with an electric traction would be the best replacement for the unsafe autos

You need to dial in the fact that the running cost of the Qute is very low. Mileage too with petrol is claimed to be 35kmpl. Bajaj clearly says that the Qute is not a replacement for a car, but the traditional 3-wheeler. Also, remember, the Tata Nano is not longer im production.
God knows how hard Bajaj had to work to get it approved even for commercial fleet. But I wouldn't mind buying it for city use as a personal vehicle when the weather is bearable or in case of an emergency. Also very easy to shift gears.
Ola and Uber should take a good look at this. Certainly way better than auto.
I hope Bajaj also gets it approved for personal buyers. Outstanding detail Nabeel Bhai.

@Ashish AmbreI agree. But nano was a marketing disaster. Bajaj is keeping the expectations in check. This is not trying to replace a car. It's an upgrade to the auto. In that sense, this is so much better.
Plus it has 4 wheels, a steering and hard doors. So it doesn't look as bare bones as the auto. That's part of the reason why I would seriously consider it as a personal vehicle if it launches with a killer price.
Sadly, this is commercial only.
@Manaf Manu sometimes, people just want to go from point A to B and save a few pennies. Besides, people are still traveling in autos, right? Why would they say no to hard doors that keep the pollution, noise and stares away from the passengers? I'd prefer this over auto any day.

Bajaj is in process of getting a green light for personal registration of the Qute. And Ola Uber too. But, some states are yet to decide as to what permit should be given to it. Anyways, all of these will be decided by October end.
@@maheshy1 u r ready to pay for plastic body, no ac, no safety, no power and torque? Nano is much much better it gives u all above benefits. Plus buying something which later u feel like to sell is waste of money and time. Think twice before investing 2.6 in a scrap. I atleast saw 50 complete satisfied nano owners.

Nice concept..but don't know whether it will be easy to maneuver like the traditional Autos..while seeing the video at one point (around 06.20 mins) I can see front left tyre slightly lifted while manuvering..but overall a good concept..

Improve Cardekho website with other multiple filters like selection of ABS, Airbags, Mileage, Rear-wheel/Frontwheel/AWD/4*4 drive, it'll be better [make these mandatory features anyways]. Oh and one more thing why dont multiple filters work on Cardekho ? selecting more than 5-6 car brands leads to skipping cars in there. Improve the search engine capability.

Why Bajaj invested in this segment after Tata Nano failure. In India people buy 4 wheeler status ke liye lete hai, practicality ke liye nahi ....

If you compare it to an auto-rickshaw, the Qute is definitely a step up in term of the safety, weather protection and the ride quality, for both the passengers and the driver.
