    Very helpful and informative! The point about being able to varnish after the painting is dry to the touch is very good to know. thank you!

    Thank you. I’ve been looking for a better alternative to liquitex that doesn’t leave so many streaks…the gloss looks quite clean, not streaky…very informative video

    i was going to buy the satin but I don't think I will now... it seems like the gloss makes it look deeper from more angles, and no streaking. Thanks for the clear video!!

      In my experience it is! So that is why I like the gloss more. One thing I want to test is, to mix the satin with the gloss and to she if that works. If it looks good I am going to check if it still is archival.

    I first bought the satin because I liked satin in acrylic varnish and expected it to have the same look. I was shocked and very disappointed with the result; the satin gamvar made the paintings very matte, flat, and chalky. I don't want them to be super shiny, either though, so I may experiment with mixing them in various ratios to see if I can find a blend I like -- a happy median between the two effects.

      Hi Jared! So can I mix satin and gloss to have the median between the two effects? I REALLY would like to do that but I do not know if I can/ok to do. I appreciate your reply! :)

    I used the satin version on several of my paintings and had brush streaking. You did too. Thankfully I have successfully removed it. There is wax in this medium and I guess the bottle has to set in warm water until it's melted. I'm not doing that and will use the gloss finish also.

    • @rachelrettig
      @rachelrettig 6 років тому +1

      EjS Art Channel I think I prefer the look of the gloss better but the satin still helps saturate the colors so I decided to keep it. I don’t think I’ll order it again but it will work for now! It isn’t worth the hassle of trying to exchange it!

    Very helpful video...thank you. However, I watched another video on Ganmar and a user wrote saying he applied the product(not sure if it was gloss or satin) but he stated the Ganmar resulted in a cloudy finish and that worries me. I just completed a 30x40 oil painting and I wanted to know if you ever experienced or heard of anything similar? I am about to purchase a bottle of gloss but I wanted to get your thoughts on this matter.

    • @TheOrchidSaGa
      @TheOrchidSaGa  7 місяців тому

      Thank you so much. Yes I know what he means. That cloudy finish you can get from the satin. Especially when it is kept to cold. That's why I wouldn't recommend it, I would go for the matt or gloss, depending on what you personally like more. I hope this helps, good luck! :D

    I like the SATIN. I don't like to see a reflecting glare when looking at a painting... There is so much reflection that in a way it looks like a mirror and picture is 'hidden' in a way.

    A very helpful video! I'm trying the Gamvar for the first time on a 16'x4' painting that will be hung near an entrance with lots of light. I'm curious about the "satin", did it dry to a "semigloss" or more of a matte finish? I couldn't tell and and the internet is ripe with bad reviews on the satin. Thank you for any help.

    • @BijouPrunelle
      @BijouPrunelle Рік тому +1

      I've just tried the satin finish and to me it's more a mat finish so thanks to this video I'll definitely get the gloss finish and ditch the so called satin which gives a white mat finish to my painting instead of seeing the colors pop up. I've used a satin varnish before and it looked more like a gloss finish and I loved it.

      Elisaweta Ponteleev it is Made for acrylics and oils. I wouldn’t use it on watercolors, I think it will reactivate the paint.
