  • Hey y’all! I wanted to update y’all because quite a few people have been asking when I plan to go back to medical school. This video title is not clickbait. I did decide to withdraw from my medical school program, not because I don’t want to be a doctor anymore, but because I value my health and I want to prioritize my recovery post-transplant. I encourage you to listen to the entire video to fully understand where I am coming from.

    I hear you. Im indigenous and felt the same when I was in STEM. Staying true to your values is what makes you successful and you have a bright future no matter what. Speaking out about these oppressive and racist structures is a win in itself.

    Go girl! Listening to you always inspires me 💖 I loved the part about choosing to be more in alignment, and the way you went deep internally and with God to solidify your decision... an interference "diet" of sorts. I'm on a very different journey, but I'm always inspired by you, as I find themes or kernels applicable to my own life. I love you! Proud of you!

    Hey Christelle, I’m glad you are healing physically and mentally. I pray that you continue to feel better. This video touched me a lot because I have been suffering from some very life threatening health issues that have impeded my path to medicine. I’ve always had the “ just push through” mentality. But lately I’ve been feeling this overwhelming need to step back and truly take care of myself like never before. Your story was confirmation for me. And like you said, I believe we will be even better doctors than before after we heal….Thankyou so much for that perspective. I wish you all the best. ❤️❤️❤️✨

    • @christellesalomon
      @christellesalomon  Рік тому +2

      Wow, I am so glad that this video touched you and gave you the confirmation you needed! It's hard enough pursuing medicine - having an illness on top of that is so much more challenging! I hope that you are able to find the healing and recovery necessary for you to move toward your dreams the way you want to! 🙏🏾 ❤️

    Thank you for your courage in sharing. This resonates so much with me as a female M4 who just failed step 2 and now have to graduate late. Med school has made me a sad angry person as well. I was forced to ignore my medical needs and chose made school a priority over my daily needs (sleep, food, water, Etc) and my medical needs.
    You show so much strength, certainty, and a role model for many! ❤

      Thank you for listening and sharing your story as well! Yea, the standard that we should give up our entire selves for this degree needs to change!! Not to mention the inspirational mentor people can look up to too!!

    I'm so so sorry you have to go all through these. I'm also out of school for two years now and i hope I'll be considered too. Sorry! You didn't meet up with the criteria and they didn't have to bend the rules for you even though your case is very special. But, the sky is our limit. All these will be put to past and we'll achieve everything we ever dreamt of ever becoming. Just know this that we're "groundbreaking, and strong".
    It's worth to be sickle cell free than leaving school. Sure i trust us, we're overzealous and we can ever restart.

    Thank u for this video it was very honest. Many people make vids of leaving med school and they are only taking LOA. I’m so happy u are putting ur health first. Med school and recovering while being on immunosuppressant is too much. Alot of med students are willing to put their mental health, and physical health on the line. More people need to be honest about what they have experienced in med school, so med school can make changes.

    • @christellesalomon
      @christellesalomon  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for listening 🙏🏾❤️ Yea, it really is the culture of medicine to sacrifice our entire selves for this career and that is just not reasonable to expect anymore! I truly do hope med schools will make changes to help actually support their students!

      @@christellesalomon thank u so much ! Small scale i rly wanna get back to gardening :) its such a joy to maintain but fatigue & back pain can make it hard ! Large scale: graduate program in a STEM field (my fav is math !!) i totally relate to how undergrad we push thru & ignore our body for an end result, but im paying dearly for the neglect. So resting & taking my time will help me. Again i love how nurturing & nonjudgmental ur perspective is about urself very inspiring.
