Brilliant explanation thanks, this is exactly what's happened to my driver's door. Just need to figure out if I've got enough time and patience to attempt the fix myself :)

Great work mate! Shame on BMW for using plastics in such important components! This is surely a dangerous problem! What if quick egress is needed from the car in an emergency!

    Where have you been? 😂
What's the update on the E90?

Try the key to Open the door, its work for me

I can't get the door open! How did you break into the lock mechanism?

I broke the casing of the lock to expose the internals

Thanks! Got in using a crowbar and a hammer! Took me 2 hours including the time wasted trying to activate the emergency release! 😮 Thanks so much for the video; I would've been lost without it (and broke)!

Great video. However, I would not recommend leaving it on UA-cam as it reveals a serious security vulnerability. Not everyone has the community-orientated mindset that you have.

If the car's locked and the alarm armed, breaking the window would be a lot quicker and easier and have much the same effect.

Thats an optional extra from BMW if you buy an electric car the passager door will not open so your partner has to walk and therefore reducing your carbon footprint❤
