If you want the light on with motor off, start the bike switch into gear (holding the clutch) and put the side stand (if not there already).
Motor will stop (side stand security), light stays on.
    Much better for you indoors.

Hi Harry, they certainly do like their grease, although I must admit I wasn't expecting it at the headlight terminals, I can only imagine how bad the relays are going to be, next job I think ......... Colin 😊

You’ll probably find that’s dielectric grease, it’s designed to protect electrical terminals 😊

Hi, yes it is but you certainly do not need the amount of grease thats on these, and if you look at relays over the years they perform perfectly well without any grease at all, although I haven't on either of my royal enfields had any problems other have, so its better to be safe than sorry, of course, it has to be a personal choice on how you maintain your own machine, sorry I've just seen that your comment is on the headlight, again in 50 years of riding motorcycles I've never seen this or felt the need, cheers colin

Very impressive on the beam of light, might be worth trying an LED . I tried to find the one you used, but couldn’t.
Think, I will attempt. Not a fettler, am afraid. Dealer put my 5k bulb in.
Certainly makes the lens hot. I guess the LED would draw less power/juice too. Stillm2 years to MOT, is just change it back I guess

Hi Mark, yes the beauty of using L.E.D.s is the low power draw and how cool they run, I've always found it strange how RE use L.E.D.s for a lot of there lights but leave the main one as halogen, it wouldn't be too bad if they up graded the halogen .........Colin ☺️

Hi Colin do you know if the meteor suffers from dodgy relays like the Himalayan?.
Also I believe us young men in our 60s is early middle age not oldies for goodness sake.

Hi Alan, I had a quick look at the relays on the meteor today and yes they are certainly covered in that awful grease, I changed them on my Himalayan for Bosch relays, but I'm thinking now that maybe the original relays are ok and it's the overload of grease causing the problems that some people encountered, again I had no problems but airing on the side of caution isn't a bad thing, so I will certainly clean these of all the grease and hopefully that will be ok, and your right we're not old men in our sixties but slightly ageing young bucks, 🤣🤣, take care mate ...... Colin ☺️

In the UK , recently, It is an MOT Fail if an LED is fitted in a headlamp designed for a Halogen bulb, because beam is NOT Defined satisfactorily, just saying! Cheers, DINO. Ps , not sure about EU.

Hi Dino, yer I get that, I changed the one in the himi for a night breaker only to get a decent beam at night, but for the meteor I've used the L.E.D as it's great in the daylight, apparently you can get a decent beamed L E.D, but there mega bucks ....... Colin 😊

The MOT fail is only for cars , you can still fit LEDs to motorcycle lights at the moment
