  • Carroll Quigley (1910-1977) was a highly esteemed professor at the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. He was also an instructor at Princeton and Harvard. As a consultant, he made contributions to the U.S Dept. of Defence the House Committee on Astronautics and Space Exploration, and the U.S. Navy. Quigley's other works include 'Evolution of Civilisation', and his major tome, 'Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time'.
"No country that values its safety should allow what the Milner group accomplished - that is, that a small number of men would be able to wield such power in administration and politics, should be given almost complete control over the publication of documents relating to their actions, should be able to exercise such influence over the avenues of information that create public opinions, and should be able to monopolize so completely the writing and teaching of the history of their own period."
"It is not easy for an outsider to write the history of a secret group of this kind, but... it should be done, for this group is, as I shall show, one of the most important historical facts of the twentieth century... In this group were the persons who must command the admiration and affection of all who know of them. On the other hand, in this group were persons whose lives have been a disaster to our way of life. Unfortunately... the influence of the latter kind has been stronger."
    Carroll Quigley, The Anglo-American Establishment.
