BMW 330i vs Mercedes-Benz C300: Which One Should You Buy?

- In this video I drive both the BMW 330i and the Mercedes-Benz C300 to compare and contrast which I think is the better buy right now in 2022. Yes you can technically buy or lease both these sedans brand new, but the C300 is soon to be replaced by the next-gen W206 model within about 6 months time... and many people are considering purchasing used examples which only further complicates things.
I definitely have some set opinions on these two cars, but pricing also plays a role. The truth is you can't go wrong with either, but watch the video to see my full thoughts and verdict!

I got a fully loaded 330i minus M package and it's probably my favorite car to date. Goddamn its so smooth, fast and elegant. My favorite part about it is you feel like you're both in a luxury sedan AND a sports car at the same time. It lacks in no areas. I also love how it demands attention on the road. You look at it and can't help but say, "damn, that's a pretty car." Its definitely easy on the eyes

Last week I picked up a used C300 with the AMG styling package and haven't been able to stop smiling. Everywhere I go, car's been turning heads. Not to mention all the crazy yahoos who want to race, get as close to my bumper as they can possibly get without touching... and it's been a blast losing them in traffic with the C300's responsive throttle and nimble handling... what a blessing to finally experience ownership, what a car!

Got a 2011 328i owned brand new till now and still no problems. BMWs are machines when maintained well
Can't go wrong with either mercedes or bmw. Both companies make great cars.
Currently stuck between these two brands. Test drove both and are equally great, love the designs and don’t mind sporty or comfort. My heart though has always gone for the Mercedes since I was little, but my brother is a mechanic at bmw and would miss out on benefits since he works there…. ugh

@@Andrew-th8jk surprisingly I got a 2015 bmw 228i in Valencia orange. I have a reel on my channel just showing my taillights but hopefully film the walk around sometime.
IMO BMW has won this segment for many years. G20 owner and formerly F30. Never considered the C300 while shopping due to preference but they’ve always looked nice.
I actually would largely agree, I think the segment was a lot more competitive back with the w204's and e90's... at least as far as base versions go.
Now things have begun to change... and Mercedes is doubling down on luxury and a premium feel in the forthcoming w206 C300!
I think the C Class ooks superb!

Mercedes C300 is very boring to drive and feels like a camry. Its not even fast as they detuned it. The BMW is the way to go. It will make you feel good when your driving it. I would rather get a camry than a C300 or mercedes E series. I actually driven these mercedes so i can tell you. The only good thing is that the mercedes are very soft riding and quieter if thats what you prefer. (But like I said the camry does a great job at this already).
xmelissababieex3 what the M274 is not detuned. The engine in this car is the exact same engine in the A45 lmfao. The detuned version of this engine is in the A220 and C220 and so forth what are you even talking about

I live in Socal, I just got the 2022 330i with the M Package and the M is worth the extra cost, came with the no chrome, black 19' rims with the black grill is so sweet, Artic white body. has a more aggressive bumper With the M package you get perforated seats in that Cognac Orange (BMW calls it brown) leather, its so much better then the default standard seats. I wondered after getting it, if it really makes that big a difference (and not having another BMW to compare it to daily like you do on the lot) and then I was at Century City Mall, and a white 330i with standard package parked next to mine and it was a world of difference. the ambient lighting is sweet. the LED headlights, I could go on and on.... My partner drives the 2021 C300 with the AMG packages, so you get the upgraded speakers and the AMG wheels... they are 2 different cars for sure. but he said was impressed with mine as the interior did feel more executive like a Mercedes.

I maxed out my 3 series (330i XDrive) and yet to receive it after 3 months (not including M sport package cause I am not going to drive that fast). Frustrated, I went to MB dealer for newer C300W4 (4 matic), it's 10k more than my current maxed out BMW. Those things doesn't come with driver assistant package (I mean lane departure warning and stuff) even if you go for Premium Package, you have to go for Elite (Exclusive) Package. I mean WTH, they want me to spend 6k for driver assistant package after a base model starts at 47k. This is where I think MB is trying to loot customers. I will rather wait for my BMW to arrive.

Benz was my first car in highschool loved it but always had problems 7yrs later drive a bmw and would never drive nun else

Sorry I meant this CLA ...it's incredible powerful for still being 4 cylinders and is a but cheaper than most others that can produce, and look this good.
@@robsnow2099 ahh I see... I've yet to drive the CLA35, but I'm sure it's a zippy little car. I'm just not a fan of the CLA size myself (feels a bit claustrophobic to me)

Tough question to answer, and I certainty don't do extensive stress testing... but I'd imagine they're fairly similar in both regards. Maybe the BMW gets the slightest edge in fuel economy... but it's truly slight

Thank you so much for your review! We’ve been a Mercedes Benz family since the 1980’s starting with my parents. I currently have 2 late model E Class Benz’s and a 1990 W126 that was my mother’s (it’s been in the family since 1991).
However, I really like the new BMW’s and I’m not 100% pleased with the fit and finish of my 2018 E300 however, but I do love it otherwise. We’ve always been brand loyal to Benz for safety and the SUPERB customer service we receive from the MB dealer.
That's awesome! We used to have a couple W124 in the fam as well! Brand loyalty is great! I personally try to examine each car for what it is separate from its brand... but that's certainly easier said than done!
The good news is that these are both excellent brands with many lovely vehicles

Reliable... it's really hard for me to say. I think the Bimmers a smidge more comfy, but it's also a newer Gen car. I'd have to drive the W206 C class to compare

I have a c300 imo it's built really cheap. And the transmission is super jumpy . Feels like a cheap car . I test drove a BMW 340 and it's leagues better quieter faster I mean pretty much in all ways. C300 has no ride control they use cheap shocks so the car is floaty. Granted I have a 2017 amg package .

the MB IS luxury, BUT it is NOT SPORTY, to go sporty with the MB you need an amg badge (and NOT one off ebay either), the ALL round road/driver's package in the bmw is superior to the benz at this level, but if you don't want handling and stability go for the merc's classic looks.
however myself with the 330i v. the c300 i think the 330i is a bit of a looker, the benz just more of the same old same, (classical to some i guess).
they're peddling the 'amg line' as AMG cars, and their NOT, so you have a half way mark of a c43 (allegedly) having been tinkered with by AMG, but FULL ON AMG are hand built engines, name plate attached, and big money, and THAT is what you need to go 'SPORTY' (as you put it) in a MB.
my guess is you have neither, and never had (pictures on bedroom walls do NOT count as ownership).

i've owned Two mercs in my life (e240 and c63), and faced with buying a c300 i have switched to a 330i (my first beemer).
whilst the merc. has presence, the beemer will be more of a driver's car.
when i had the e240 my mate had a 5 series (520 i think), and i drove it, i didn't let him drive mine as i'd have to admit the bmw was a better car.
the beemer was the 'drivers' car, the merc. more of a poser's car, each have their own brand supporters, but i've just jumped ship.
I was a big Beemer fan but Mercedes has stole my heart... great video though!

I have owned 4 Bmws- of those, 3 were 5 series. Biggest problem? Mechanics refuse to get educated on them. All I keep hearing is that they're pieces of shit. I'm so sick of it. As a woman, they will blame me for everything that happens. Not one of them knew to even check on an open recall I found out about last night... after it died. They see oil sludge and blame me. All oil changes have been done on time. Mechanics are USELESS.
That very problem has caused my car to be dead, sitting in a shop. I'm brand new to Mercedes and have no idea where to start. All I know is the C300 is "cheap junk" which was told to me an hour ago by a girl I approached at a gas station. She said even the leather cracks.
And no, I don't have money for a newer *anything.*

As to your other point, I'm sorry to hear of your bad experiences... sounds very annoying. If you were considering a Benz right now, the CLA, while a bit claustrophobic for me personally is a sensible and affordable option (provided you don't pay a dealer markup) and is relatively nice.
With that said the BMW 3 series, as seen in this video, is always a solid option for a 'relatively' affordable price point as well. Same would be true of a 16'-18' 330i !!
@@Reoniz after seeing the prices today on used cars which skyrocketed 40% I probably won't be able to buy either. It's a travesty what has happened to prices in the USA thanks to our rotten president!

Wait til it breaks down, Summer, and no mechanics outside of the bmw shop want to work on them. They'll tell you it's your fault for whatever goes wrong. I'm a woman and have owned 4 of them. My current one, a 2010 5 series, just died. No one will even tell me why. After the last guy did an oil change last week, suddenly the low oil pressure light came on and it just lost everything while making a turn from a stop. Turns out it has an open recall that none of the IDIOT mechanics cared to check and I knew nothing about. Motor is *allegedly* blown and I'm forced to buy another car.
I adore them but can't afford a new one and at this point, my heart just breaks because I'm not spending 15K on something with 100K miles... knowing that's when everything is going to start needing to be replaced. Just wait!
Mercedes has much better quality , interior, more luxurious and more reliable. BMW terrible designs and cheaper interior ..

No ventilated front seats? Not even as an option? Damn I was so close to getting this car but not offering ventilated seats was the deal breaker for me. Comon BMW, what are you guys doing there? You can't call this a "luxury" sports sedan, if you can't even offer it as an option.

I looked up articles and opinions on BMW vs Mercedes because that’s been a topic pretty much since both companies have existed. BMW is very luxurious with a lot of performance. Mercedes doesn’t have any serious performance but it makes a much better statement to people around you than BMW, even BMWs flagship vehicles aren’t as good as Mercedes mid class vehicles. So, do you want a nice looking and comfortable BMW, or do you want to show the world you made it and get a Mercedes?
