That's pretty cool.
A 3D printed nozzle for a vacuum cleaner, could be a good addition to where the pcb's are cut, to prevent most of the dust flying around.
But all in all, pretty neat setup.
Or use a small water jet to rinse and wash the the PCB and suppress dust and heat.

I really hate to see DIYers with loads of people piling on them about some safety issue. I'm not against safety and people should know what they are getting into if they try to replicate what they see. So with that said, please just check what has been posted before piling on. Also, please try to be more accurate with safety comments. PCBs are polycarbonate, not fiber glass. According to the MSDS sheets, polycarbonate's dust hazard is similar to fiber glass for inhalation but has no hazard for eye contact or dermal contact other than having dust in your eyes. As for the diamond wheel cutting skin, I have a tile saw with a diamond wheel that I have literally cut a brick in half with. However, it will not cut skin. It may give you a friction burn if you hold onto it long enough with enough pressure but no cuts. Diamond cuts by applying a large force to a microscopic area. Hard materials , such as polycarbonate and brick won't flex and are therefore cut. Skin just moves out of the way. So a guard is unnecessary for fingers but may help with containing the dust.
In conclusion, please don't make a huge scary list of safety issues in the comments. I like to see people try new DIY projects and don't want to see people scared away. Just let the first person give them the warning and leave a thumb's up emoji for the video instead. Comment count does help the producer.
Thanks for the great video! I repeated and it works perfectly. Now I have my own cutting machine! It was big problem for me. Before, I used cutter for the paper, very strong one. Now, with the cutting machine, I cut more precisely. If somebody else will also build this machine - take care to make the shaft as short as possible. I've got cutting discs with very long shaft and it starts to resonate at about 30% speed. Then I found shorter shaft and now it works rock-solid. Thanks again for the video!
Or use an old Dremel tool that you have layin around.

@@Engineer9736 Big saw disk is not gonna break. This small weak disc can be bent and it flies into hundreds of tiny pieces after it breaks.

У меня один вопрос - алмазного диска на сколько хватает? Те что у меня есть - стачиваются чуть ли не на глазах. Из того же китая.
мне два дня назад пришол из китая такой же,выбросил.года три назад заказывал 20мм,до сих пор режут,в основном стеклотекстолит.

Питание движка нужно было сделать через направляющие, а так неудобно провода елозят вместе с кареткой. Недодумал дядья.

Usefulness : +10, Security : -20, Overall score : Simply do the math. The concept/idea is just fine however the way it was implemented makes it less appropriate. Just be carefull and don't take anything for granted. Health and security have premium priority.
Don't care about security, but dust irritates me. Can't you just cut it with mini drill?
LCM Leaked The PCB dust will do more than irritate you therefore it should be considered as a security issue as such. If the PCB being cut breaks, pieces might hit you harmfully. Of course, if you don't care about the security and lose the usage of an eye because you were negligent , this won't affect you, won't it ? The overall setup in this clip is as clever as the fellow who attempted to start his chainsaw while holding it between his legs. Trying to save time and being silly at doing it, isn't the way to go. I wish you luck if you decide to go the risky way.

I see everyone cautioning ypu about the fiber dust. Many have suggested adding a vacuum mechanism. I would suggest a clear acrylic box over the whole unit with left and right side open for your hands

Prevent breathing fiberglass. Do it in good ventilated area or outside.
You need to add dust extraction. The dust all over your hands and in the air is incredibly harmful.

Идея отличная, но много пыли. Надо сменить диск алмазный, на отрезной для фрезы. Ещё можно поверхность под платой приподнять на несколько миллиметров, а под двигателем разместить плоскую трубку вплотную подходящую к диску, а потом эта трубка чтобы переходила в круглую под трубу пылесоса. Как вариант приклеить два 5мм брусочка перпендикулярно ходу диска по краям и на них сверху тонкий лист жести, щель у диска будет всасывать пыль, противоположный край заглушить. Сверху в жести сделать отверстие 30мм диаметром и приклеить трубку выходящую вверх или в сторону, под шланг пылесоса. Себе так и сделаю.

if you could set the cutter less deep, you would mill slots in the PCB.
so you get a PCB with strips,
turn the PCB 90 degrees and you get square islands
an experimental PCB (it's just an idea!)

Hi! What about safety? Motor have 45k rpm, but max speed of cutting disk is 20k. Do you use your system on a maximal speed?
I use a tile cutter with an aluminium stop mounted at 90 deg
In the first PCB means Printed Circuit Board, in the second it is very dusty and insalubrious work

better have a blade guard and metal motor mount plate/bracket, do not trust glue on plastic
НАД диском приклеить пластиковое корытце с поролоном (диск себе сделает пропил), пропитанным водой - верхняя часть диска будет очищаться от пыли и охлаждаться - можно будет пилить керамику, стекло и т.п.
Ножницы по металлу, ножовка или концелярский нож уже не в моде?)
Молоток и долото вместо перфоратора, ведро и палка вместо бетономешалки, ручная пила вместо циркулярки. Какие ещё замечательные идеи предложишь, умник?

Its an OVERKILL. The Motor//Cutter could be fixed and just one Adjustable "Support" Bar was needed. All that Rail mount for the Motor was not needed.

480 motor rated 6v, 9v, 12v also available
I always had these problems. I worked with a manual or electric jigsaw. Or clamp scissors for metal in a vice and cut. But now I will create such a device. Thank you very much!!!! :))))
