5k Beavers and Bots and you still have 11 fps. I had trouble with 2.5k total, game almost stalled. But i did have 1 super big district, so maybe the extreme length and complexity of the path system was to blame. CPU and GPU where not working that hard. Because of different settings (slowly building up to 100 days of drought), i had a "flying" reservoir, over the entire map (151x151 custom). Probably will try again some later time, update broke the ladder mode, which is kind of important, if going insanely vertical.
Going only obe district with that amount of beavers is really not a good idea as I found out the hard way 😅 But still even in my other build with large map and only 1k beavers it is laggy and I have separate districts like 5 at least. I think the path calculations are the problem. I hope they will work more on optimization now as it would be really shame if you could’t build massive cities as the game is really good for it. I want to build ridiculous hive cities. And I have a quite beefy PC but the game can’t utilize it properly.
It’s definitely the pathways causing issues. Cutting down on excess paths, and separating into different districts keeps the amount of calculations the game needs to do to a minimum. At a minimum, each beaver is looking at the entire available path system to plot its movements every time it decides to do something. At worst, they’re constantly checking. In either case, optimizing and reducing the path system means each beaver has to check less pathways. Going further, making separate districts greatly decreases the amount of pathway each beaver can get to.
