I have had no experience with Napoleon but I have a Weber Spirit that I have been using for a long time, I'm thinking about 20 years. The durability of this grill is absolutely amazing. I have had to replace the flavor bars as they do deteriorate. The grill is still using the original burners and the original igniter is still working. I'm going to get a new grill just because it looks so bad being 20 years old. Considering the service this Weber has given I will get another Weber. Thanks for the video it was interesting.
i agree with what other people have said that you mentioned at the start of the video. the Weber 315 would be a better comparison. obviously the extra burner is going to provide more heat. the main feature though is the price point. you basically get an extra burner for about the same price. that does make it a better value vs. the weber.
Nicely presented regarding cooking. I have owned 3 Weber gas grills. All 3 rusted beyond being useful in less than 2 years. The cooking apparatus was good, however, the stand is useless. My wheels absorb all of the weight when I move it. So who is the genius at Weber who placed the holes for the wheels less than 1/2 inch from the end of metal. The best Weber grill I have owned was an old charcoal grill…no rust. To put this into perspective I have a 20 year old Vermont Castings grill exposed to RI weather ….no rust. I
I have the webber spirit 2 burner with the cabinet underneath. 2 things are different on it from the one you have there. Both shelves fold down and it has 4 little swivel casters instead of just the 2 wheels.
I like the 4 swivel casters actually because on the ones with only 2 big wheels you can accidentally bend the side table when trying to lift and move the grill.
17:22 The Weber has one igniter, the Napoleon has 3. The more igniters you have, the more chance of problems to deal with. I like both grills, but I would go with Weber.
so a cool thing about the Napoleon is you only need one ignitor to start them all because it has that metal bar that carries the flame to the other burners.
@@Mike-sp4iz No, the rebel and freestyle are the same BBQ. Im not sure if there was an internal change to the branding / marketing. Perhaps the name rebel wasnt working well. The design of this freestyle was to replace the old Napoleon Triumph 325 which was a piece of junk. Napoleon wanted a new entry level model that would compete against the bigger name brands. The idea for this was to go back to the original napoleon design elements that people know.
My first Napoleon, less than 7 years on the job, burner mount rusted out. Then, after fixing rust hole, regulator went. Won't heat up past 400 degrees.I checked with others that had these grills, Napoleon, in Barrie Ontario, won't even answer their phone. The customer service doesn't exist. I bought new sear plates because they were rusted out at 5 years and the lighter died at 5 yrs also.I checked with the other Napoleon owners and ,I ended up buying new sear plates from Amazon. The unit was covered every winter. I'm going with a Weber E215 this time.
Weber carries spare parts even for very old grills from the 80s and 90s. Therefore Weber is a better pick. As for the remperature comparing 2 burners with a 3 burners is not a fair comparison. For this you should have lit only w burners on the Napoleon or use a Webet 310 to avoid bias. I have a Genesis Gold 4 SS (2005). 3 burners + side burner and it is still looks new.
We have a napoleon grill 825 and we don’t know how to use it. Does Napoleon offer for someone to guide how to use it in person. We bought it because of your review! Thank you!
We do more product reviews than cooking. You should check out the Napoleon Products UA-cam channel. They have a lot of cooking videos. Here is one for example ua-cam.com/video/OvL7Le2zUeo/v-deo.html
Napoleon Rogue 425 (3-burner) vs Freestyle 425 (4-burner)? Is there any difference other than the number of burners? Neither models have side burners, extras etc. Is there any advantage in getting the rogue which has 1 burner less at the same price point?
I found this video very useful as I have never owned or cooked on a grill but want to start. I am only one person so I don't need a large grill but I wanted one with a stand, not a table-top grill.
I didn’t see it mentioned in the comments and maybe you still haven’t figured it out, but the flat side of the Weber grates is the seer side. Also the white background on the Weber thermometer is easier to see at a distance. These things matter lol.
When you flipped your toast, did you also rotate it? Otherwise you're looking at a mirror of how the toast actually burned relative to the burner. I looked at the replay and the bottom left on the Napoleon wasn't rotated so it appears that there is a hot spot on the outside of the burner, but its actually a hot spot on the inside (which makes sense).
one hand can light the Weber as well though. You turn the knob to the ignite setting, then press the ignite button. Doesn't have to be simultaneous with 2 hands at all.
I don't think the fact that the Weber won't let you ignite the right burner without first igniting the left burner matters much in the real world. Even if you plan to cook your food with the left burner off, you're still going to want to pre-heat the grill with both burners before cooking anyway.
Thanks for the video! There's not a ton of grill comparison videos out there so this is very helpful. I'd love to see the Napoleon infrared sizzle zone compared to the Weber sear station. It's my understanding the ir gets up to 1800 degrees and the sizzle zone tops around 750 degrees but a real world comparison of results would be awesome!
I have a Napoleon with the IR burner and it's AMAZING. I exclusively cook on it almost everything. The rest of the grill is eh. Not amazing, not very even. But the IR burner makes it all worth it. I've had this for years now. I did a DIY fix for the rest of the grill and put in an adjustable regulator. I needed it to turn up the rest of the grill so it could get hot. It worked very well. However, it's most likely a big no no. I did give Napoleon 10 years to fix the unevenness and lack of heat on the rest of grill and after replacing everything, I bought an adjustable regulator off eBay for $15 and it fixed the lack of heat problem.
I have a 16 y/o Spirit that has performed like a champ in spite of enduring 16 Michigan winters-uncovered. Thanks, but I'll be replacing it with an E-210.
I'm not sure about the propane time. It's probaby easier to find Weber here in the USA since its made here. You can find napoleons at some specialty shops.
Would the Freestyle have enough vertical space for a beer can chicken? Is there any more clearance with the Rogue? The birds I get are usually pretty good size, 5+ pounds. My current grill is a Broil King Signet and I have to put a piece of aluminum foil on the top of the bird due to not enough clearance. Kinda looks like I'm trying to stuff Big Bird in there...
Those new buyers looking for their first grill, number one thing to check for in a grill is to have a fully, seamless aluminum tub. If you look at Char Broil grills, there are seams. Seamless means those grease / oil will not find its way down to your garage floor and stain it for good. I hated Char broil grill for that. Makes me hate to grill often. I’m talking about upper horizontal seams above the tub.
With my napoleon if i push it in and wait just a second it lights everytime, if you click it real fast somtimes it doesnt lite. Just get the gas going wait 1 second. Great video as always that sweater tho 👍
No, seriously! I have a rotting charbroil infrared that I’m replacing with the napoleon. Now I sear four min/side and then indirect 5 mins a side for medium but the charbroil only gets up to about 500 degrees ona warm day. 700 degrees seems like you’re running a pretty big burn risk of more than a minute direct.
Just bought the Freestyle 425 over the Weber Spirit ii 310. Cannot wait to start grilling! Here in the UK, Napoleon are less well known so feels a bit risky, but with the features you pointed out in this video it really helped with making a decision, thanks!
I have a weber spirit II 3 BURNER and it's way better than my mates napolean. Who wants snaky grill plates? Solution to a problem that doesn't exist. My mate with the napolean grill comes to my place to grill now, so join the dots...
i have not had my burner blow out ever even with it snowing in michigan. i never bring food out to a cold grill I always preheat to temp i want. i dont think having burners connected is a big deal for me.
Call me picky, but I like the Napoleon thermometer with the numbers all oriented to the center of the dial. This is standard on almost all equipment dials. The Weber reminds me of someone who turns the map to keep track of where they are.
The issue I see is that you are comparing the Weber 2 burner that is much cheaper with the 3 Burner Napoleon. Weber also has a 3 burner that is exactly in the same price range has the Napoleon. That would have been and apple to apple comparison and seeing how well the Weber faired with only 2 burners I wouldn't be surprised if the 3 Burner from Weber had better results...
Never heard of the Napoleon. Just got the Weber spirit with 3 burners and the temp gauge that connects to the WiFi. Nice grill. Wanted something that was good quality and not the size of a small car. Everything else I saw, to get good quality, it got bigger and bigger. BTW, I got it on clearance at Lowe's for $350.
The Napoleon Grill is over $200 more expensive. Priced around $800 I'm not sure how you can deem it "entry level". By the way, I got my Weber 210 at Home Depot for $230.
Obviously the Napoleon is going to get hotter faster it has 3 burners. You should compare it with the Weber spirit with 3 burners not the Weber ll. Also, what is the price difference between the two would be some useful information.
you would think so. I went off of the size of the cooking space, so even though it's a 2 burner they are the same size. The 3 burner is way bigger on ThE WEber
It is Not made in Canada. I live near Toronto I received a damaged brand new freestyle 365 I have to wait three months for the part.Summers are short and will be over.
What do you recommend: broil King crown 410 (2022) or Napoleon rogue 425? what in the USA has a better opinion: Broil King or Napoleon? / greetings from Poland in Europe 🙂
I have a Weber Genesis 425 that blew across my deck in a wind storm last month. The enamel on the lid got grazed so I’m worried it’s gonna rust. Weber said your problem, no replacement. Watching you scrape the lid with a knife, I’m wondering if that’s a fair policy from Weber? Love your videos!
Thanks for the video. I'm not sure I'm sold on your approach, as you used "footprint" to compare these 2 grills, and not a true apples to apples comparison. I would be curious to see a follow up with the 3 burner Webber. Thanks again.
I'm looking for new grills. My space isn't huge so size has become a major factor in what will work best. More burners don't really mean better but I'd rather have a 3 burner over a 2 if they were the same size. Of course I'd say price might be the even more important factor - especially with "entry level" grills. I ended up choosing a Prestige 500 over a Weber S325s ( budget was $1200) mainly due to the fact that I can fold down a side table on the Prestige. The fact that Weber doesn't offer this on their Genesis grills (with their massive side table) is a major miss I think. And the Prestige is slightly smaller but is a 4 burner which is nice. If I end up getting disappointed I fully blame @Embers Fireplaces & Outdoor Living for selling me (indirectly) on the Prestige line of Napoleon grills 🙂.
That would be cool, but we have a full schedules of videos coming out! I think there is a broil king laying around here somewhere we've been meaning to review.
Really great comparison. It looks to me that on the toast test that the heat was spread a bit more on the Napoleon, there was a lot of white at the back aswell as the sides and front on the weber (although it was fairly close).
LOL this biased guy is grasping at straws to nitpick everything and promote Napoleon. Not apples to apples at all. Weber spirit II e-315 would have been a better comparison for that. It has 3 burners, the door on bottom, and the 2 folding side tables. Also, I'd rather have the igrill app connection instead of a cheapo bottle opener. E-315 is cheaper now too, so it is comparable. I also like how its so easy to get Weber replacement parts readily available in any bigbox store if I need any in future years. Weber makes a quality product that will last ya, so I'm brand loyal to them now. Haven't tried a Napoleon, but Ive tried other grill brands besides Weber and always been disappointed. As for ignitors, we all know they always break eventually on every grill anyway and you gotta light with a grill lighter. No big deal to me. The fewer ignitors, the better imo.
The toast test proves you can't cook on low heat on the napolean. But let's turn that into a positive cos we sell napoleon grills. Not to mention literally half the toast on the napolean looks burnt to shit lol
SUCKS...the Napoleon in Canada is branded as the Napoleon REBEL and has NO front door! Booo, something about us up here Napoleon? WTF you lost a sale just now as I NEARLY clicked BUY NOW at Canadian Tire. Weber E-215 it is.
@@embersliving Sorry but our Canadian Tire Home Depot sold the Napolean Free Spirit! Didn't know this but low and behold there it was with the door! Regardless I bought a Coleman Revolution 2 burner lol! LOVE it!
buddy ..napolion has 3 burners..and weber are 2 burners of course napolion will be hoter but it is not fair.... you should have compared 3 and 3 burners...
Also have to say: If anyone gives you shit about your presentations; Have'm go watch something lower grade or something that purposely soothes their woke upbrining. I love your impartial reviews.
@@henrifpv2868 you should be able to cook low and slow better with the napolean as you would cook in middle of grill not on the side of grill with middle burner off. Therefore heat more evenly distributed. I have to rotate food on two burner to cook evenly. With one burner off, Means opening the cover more often losing temp. So why would you compare three burner to two burner? I get 600 degrees in 10 minutes on spirit two, great for grilling steak, hamburger, but have to work harder getting temp right for low and slow.
@@keithcowen5220 I think the real question here is why would you buy Weber when there is Napoleon available. For people that dont know anything about grills goes to the shop and see Napoleon 399€ and Weber 430€. They maybe heard that Weber is good but they come here to see is the Napoleon worth it. After this video they know better and use their money wisely. I think you are barking up the wrong tree here. You should ask this question from Weber and not the maker of this video. Cheers mate!

The one handed jet fire ignition on the Napoleon is especially good if a person is injured or handicapped and can only use one hand.
good point

I have a Weber Genesis 425 that blew across my deck in a wind storm last month. The enamel on the lid got grazed so I’m worried it’s gonna rust. Weber said your problem, no replacement. Watching you scrape the lid with a knife, I’m wondering if that’s a fair policy from Weber? Love your videos!
thanks for watching!
Are they both made in China? Or designed in California
Ha yes, however napoleon is designed in Canada. Weber designed in Chicago
Napoleon today is $549 and Weber today is $399 (home depot) now money IS a big factor…
Thanks for watching!
I can't get that model of Weber in Canada at least not wear I live. Great video btw.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. I'm not sure I'm sold on your approach, as you used "footprint" to compare these 2 grills, and not a true apples to apples comparison. I would be curious to see a follow up with the 3 burner Webber. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you
thanks!
A comparison with Napoleon Freestyle 425 Graphite vs Broil King crown 410
?????
That would be cool, but we have a full schedules of videos coming out! I think there is a broil king laying around here somewhere we've been meaning to review.
Why did you open the bread like that?
I know that char broil isn't really top tier shit, but I think the 3 burner "commercial" true infrared will give the napoleon a run for the money.
yeah that sounds good
Minimum sear temp is above 500
Freestyle can do it
Is this homie wearing Jordan 11's. Sellin in style!
Of course I am!
@@embersliving Absolutely love it! Thanks for the great video! Grill on my man!
Really great comparison. It looks to me that on the toast test that the heat was spread a bit more on the Napoleon, there was a lot of white at the back aswell as the sides and front on the weber (although it was fairly close).
yes very close
I’m liking this video just because the host had to point out that he’s rocking Jordan 11s, lmao. Got me rollin
We are trying to convince Trevor to make a sneaker UA-cam channel
You can’t compare a 3 burner to a 2 burner. Apples to oranges
Yeah its all we had at the time though
Here for the reviews, stay for the Jordans lol
haha! Stay tuned then!
One burner vs two burner , no contest .
Thanks for watching!
I agree this guy sells Napoleon grills. He is biased.
and weber
This add was paid for by Napoleon grills.Willing to bet this guy sold speakers out of a white van!
Thanks for watching!
Sorry. Three to three burner is better comparison
Yeah i agree, but we did not have one in the store 🙃
OMG. Put me to sleep. I'm just gonna go buy another Sunbeam from a garage sale
haha ok
You’re a good sport. I’ll keep watching
Dreams are free
ONE HAND IS AMAZING
haha
Ok
I have a Napoleon however i do have the feeling that this je slightly biasd......
Both are solid. I personally prefer Napoleon
Weber is a good choice!
The toast test proves you can't cook on low heat on the napolean. But let's turn that into a positive cos we sell napoleon grills. Not to mention literally half the toast on the napolean looks burnt to shit lol
ha
LOL...I always base my product research on info from salespersons.
Great video! Makes me really want to make toast
I'm sure you can make it super good
Why wouldn't you use the 3 burner spirit to compare apples to apples. The size is the same. Rigged.
ITs just what we have in the shop
SUCKS...the Napoleon in Canada is branded as the Napoleon REBEL and has NO front door! Booo, something about us up here Napoleon? WTF you lost a sale just now as I NEARLY clicked BUY NOW at Canadian Tire. Weber E-215 it is.
ah ii see
@@embersliving Sorry but our Canadian Tire Home Depot sold the Napolean Free Spirit! Didn't know this but low and behold there it was with the door! Regardless I bought a Coleman Revolution 2 burner lol! LOVE it!

You can see that Napoleon had a lot of detail better design, better price and better experience!
I agree
Napoleon FAN boy obviously !!!!
obvs
Oh boy. 🤡
Takes about five minutes to figure out he’s biased
Thanks for watching!
buddy ..napolion has 3 burners..and weber are 2 burners of course napolion will be hoter but it is not fair.... you should have compared 3 and 3 burners...
Completely disagree. They were reviewed based on size. So the Weber 3 burner is way bigger
Also have to say: If anyone gives you shit about your presentations; Have'm go watch something lower grade or something that purposely soothes their woke upbrining. I love your impartial reviews.
haha
Going by size? Dumb test. Do a three and three test. Not a three and two. Guess he sells napoleon
we sell both actually, quite a bit of each
Fanboy napoleon dealer
Thanks for watching!
why compare three burner against two burner. This is a joke.
ok
Because they are same size and same Price range, except Weber is 30€ more expensive here where I live. How this is a joke to you?
@@henrifpv2868 napolean not availBle in frost bite falls, wiscosin.
Entry level grill? 😂😂
Check out our top 5 luxury grills video 😁
Just get to the point, too much chatter lol!
You should expand in the future to the northeast
we would love to!
