An endemic perspective would use an entirely different framework.) Yet somehow, there is zero bluesiness to this song. I can't even hear any if I try. It just sound like polytonality, which I find odd.
If I had to hazard a guess, I think there’s something going on in beat 2 of the 3rd measure? (I’m not a Music, so apologies in advance.) As far as I can tell, that’s an accidental and the only note in the counter-melody that breaks from the major scale. If you change that note “back” to an Eb it sounds more Bluesy to me. I think that one accidental is the lynchpin to creating this cacophonous masterpiece of artificial smiles.
