Thank you so much for this video. I've never done anything remotely close to this in my life. The only mistake I made was drilling 2 holes on top and 1 one bottom. Oh well I added the large faceplate to cover my mistakes and the holes from previous thermostat. 1st electrical thing I've ever done. I will be doing more. Oh yeah I'm a 60 year old woman.
I have the same issue and can't seem to get it working when I talk to Alexa. When I say turn on downstairs thermostat it says she cannot perform that function
@Jasonmbartley its because it's a multi zone system most likely. I have not figured out the work around yet. I just get "doesn't support that". Works fine from the phone and worked when I set it up.
What if I have several more wires? Do they plug into the other letters? I have yellow, green, red, White, blue(c), e(gray), orange, plus a pink black and brown that aren’t hooked up.
Hey thanks for the video, the wires I have are red, green, white, and blue. Red=rc, green=c, white=w1, and blue is plugged into pek. What would pek be on the amazon thermostat?
I'm just beginning to get into the smart thermostat. I notice that it has an option for a C-Wire attachment. What exactly is this for? I'm not sure if it's something I need. 🤔
The c wire is the blue wire, not every HVAC install has it because it's not always necessary. You'll see that it's run anyway in a lot of newer setups cause it doesn't really hurt anything for it to be hanging out in the wall if it not being used
Hey sir what happens if you do all this and get the thermostat installed but the furnace fan or (blower) stays on even when you tell the thermostat to turn off? It just keeps running and running. We had to kill the breaker to HVaC outside just to get it to stop. Thanks!
Now what if I have more wires than it are required? Like I have an o/b wire in my current one as well as one that is connected together with another slot. Do the instructions explain that?
I just installed the thermostat was easy both the wiring and programming. Only one question how do you turn the fan on or to automatic from your phone? It’s easily done at the thermostat but how do you do it at your phone ?
I was able to pop my honeywell thermo out and put the amazon one in its place. Exact same internal box. But i did end up switching because the backplate was different and You could see the screws. But if you have a Honeywell check and see if it matches. The Amazon is made by honeywell. Could literally take you 1 minute to change it, counting flipping the fuse
My existing thermostat only has red, blue, and white connected. The yellow and green wires are there, but not connected to the existing thermostat. Should I connect these to my amazon thermostat?
Please answer this one question. Can you control your furnace fan from your smartphone? Or only from the thermostat itself. If you can please tell me how fast because I must return it by tomorrow.
In _theory_ you should be able to just use the existing Honeywell T-Series wall plate (since this thermostat appears to use Honeywell's UWP), but YMMV.
Excellent presentation your man well do; Is this kit compatible with sonioff switchs of with through Google home have!! I just a real butt pain as the existing room control is a first gen Siemens a nightmare AND some Spanish guy has wired this uck uck
I just installed this today ( really easy to do) but I noticed that the furnace kicks on quite often the heat kicks on and will Last about 5-8 miniutes then turn off but then go on again about 3-5 miniutes later I have the temp set to 68 is this normal for a smart thermostat to do?
@@YashJain-gq6em apparently its a software bug and i was told to be in the queue. Here is how i overcame the problem. I tried installing same app in 4 different mobile devices. On one of the phone (my sons iphone and with his credentials) i was lucky to find amazon brand. I am using that credentials on my phone (app). it works
I installed mine in about 40 minutes. Everything seems to work fine however, when testing the AC the fan kicks on but the AC unit has not run (so far). I'm 99% certain I installed it correctly. Anyone else have this issue?

I was sitting here screaming at the Alexa app instructions for being difficult, so thank you for saving my sanity.
Any thoughts on using this thermostat with a dual zone system? Specially if you can ask "Alexa raise upstairs temp to 73" for example?

Yes you may have dual staged heating and cooling. Make sure you get a thermostat that is compatible with your hvac system
Thank you!
Hey thanks for the video, the wires I have are red, green, white, and blue. Red=rc, green=c, white=w1, and blue is plugged into pek. What would pek be on the amazon thermostat?
Great video. I just purchased one and will be installing it. I am interested in learning about the Alexa Automatic control features on the app.
I'm just beginning to get into the smart thermostat. I notice that it has an option for a C-Wire attachment. What exactly is this for? I'm not sure if it's something I need. 🤔
That is the same mounting plate used by the Honeywell Lyric T5. How do I know this? I installed 3 Lyric T5s in my home 4 years ago.
So whats the c wire or c-wire adapter they mention?
The c wire is the blue wire, not every HVAC install has it because it's not always necessary. You'll see that it's run anyway in a lot of newer setups cause it doesn't really hurt anything for it to be hanging out in the wall if it not being used
Would the features of this thermostat work work as intended without the c wire?
Thanks

Does it work with no WiFi? (After Initial setup) Can the energy saver feature, tap into power company's fluctuating daily pricing?
Now what if I have more wires than it are required? Like I have an o/b wire in my current one as well as one that is connected together with another slot. Do the instructions explain that?
Orange is reversing valve only connect if you have outdoor AC, brown is two stage. Blue is common.
What are those 2 blue (what look like switches) at the bottom of the wiring plate? How do i know if i need use either one or both?

Great review, thanks!
Does that work with traditional electric baseboard from Cadet ?
On my old Ritetemp thermastat, there is a horseshoe shaped jumper wire from RH to RC. Do I use it on the amazon thermostat?
Quick question: I have an orange wire. Is that going to be an issue? Or do I just need to cap it?
❤really cool. Thanks man!
Would this directly replace a honeywell mechanical thermostat?
Cayenne blue is a great color.
Thank you for the video
My existing thermostat only has red, blue, and white connected. The yellow and green wires are there, but not connected to the existing thermostat. Should I connect these to my amazon thermostat?
Likely Yes unless it's a really old system and was jerryrigged by an old owner. I'd your system a heat pump? When in doubt call a pro.
How do you install it if you have a heat pump???
Please answer this one question. Can you control your furnace fan from your smartphone? Or only from the thermostat itself. If you can please tell me how fast because I must return it by tomorrow.
what happen if my wifi break down and needed to replace the device to bring it up. Is it possible to survive in the winter
I can not find Amazon thermostat in the devices when you add the device can you help me?
Thank you so much!
I felt like I was doing calculus with the wire reprogramming of a c-wire adapter but i figured it out. Take pictures and write everything down
Can it be installed on a heat pump system? If yes, where can I find instructions?
Yes you just would not connect the heater wire (usually white) as your air handler is not a furnace 😊
My system has a ORANGE wire. Not sure where will it go on the amazon thermostat
I have a 2 wire old oil furnace will this work if i add a 24v adapter?
sux you cant just set it to a temp. it has to be a 4 degree swing.
Which amazon app
My actual thermostat don't have the blue wire, could that be a porblem?
When connecting to the thermostat, mine just says: "Unknown Failure." Power's on, but no response from the device.
It says it’s compatible with Honeywell Home but do you have to still install the wall plate
In _theory_ you should be able to just use the existing Honeywell T-Series wall plate (since this thermostat appears to use Honeywell's UWP), but YMMV.
I don’t see amazon brand coming under thermostat in Alex app
Any way to remove clicking sound? Wakes me up at night.
What happens if your internet goes down?

Anybody know about the "W" wire?
after clicking "thermostat", i dont get Amazon brand option at all. I have re-installed the app
I have the same problem

Somehow my fan got turned on, and I can't get it to turn off - help, please
I set up mine, but giving me hot air instead of cool. What is a force air system? I answered no🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
What if there is a brown wire?
emergency heat

Yes! They said it’s defective. Weird it’s happening to more than one person
Can you lock it with password
When you need to open up the Alexa app, and you call it the Amazon app, that’s kind of confusing. Not everybody knows.
Anyone notice on the flip out panel it says DON'T CONNECT w wire...lol
Yep. Blows a fuse.
But he connected it. Mine lights up but has an exclamation point blinking to the side
