- Click Here To Subscribe! ► bit.ly/JOovvU - I was looking to build a trommel since before I did the GOLD sluicing video. What is a Trommel? Well - its a rotating drum that is its basic form is a filtering system. For example, excavation contractors may screen their site debris into two fractions; a saleable topsoil for farms, nurseries and site-work, as well as cleaned rock for aggregates or landscaping work. This allows the contractor to resell their waste, instead of incurring the cost of sending it for disposal.
The same principle applies to the production of compost, sand/gravel, lumber mill by-products and municipal waste.
Trommels are also used in the recovery of gold from mineral rich soils. The dirt is broken up by high pressure water jets before entering the trommel, which breaks up the dirt further and outputs the rocks and stones while depositing the gold fragments in special plastic mats.

This project has been secretly being created for several months, and is the brainchild of MAV from the beginning. and now we are able to mine and filter Good Pay Dirt, from the Debris!

hey you should make a wash plant the go under the trommel so the pay dirt will land on a conveyor that will lead to the wash plant
You should also get a wash plant that will be cool. like on discovery channel theres a show called Gold rush

I'm 33 and I'd play with it as well.
I fly & drive RC but if you want to be taken back to your childhood days of playing in the mud with Corgi diggers this has to be the nerdfest of awesomeness, totally get it, every adult needs to be allowed to play. Absolutely love it.

RCSparks should set his trommel up with so that the sorted material dumps directly into a sluice box instead of making a pile on the ground. THat way you don't have to have another machine to move the pile under the sorted trommel. RCS could also improve the trommel by adding an interior spray bar to wash the material going through the trommel sieve, which would then dump into the sluice below...

That is perfect ! Now all you would need is a semi with a dump trailer and those smaller rocks tgat fall under the trommel would be perfect for a gravel road !

I totally see dumptrucks catching the dirt that's falling. Or moving the whole operation across the way to the pond where you hook up some water and some how involve the boat. Maybe the boat runs the gold across to the other side where there is some other RC device waiting. Or my imagination is running wild again.?.?.

If you're planting a garden you should definitely use this to dig up the ground or loose in the dirt.
Can you do more build series or upgrade projects on cars because I think that those type of videos are so cool and fun to watch not only that but I learn off of those projects. You inspired me to to stay in the RC hobby because when I first saw your videos I realized how much fun the hobby really is I hope you will do more build series. Thank you for taking your time to read this.

You should get a water system in the trommel to clean the dirt , then it drops down into a sluice box. Than it will be a fully functioning mine

You should make a dirt or sand pit for the equiptment and separate out the bad parts, and use the dump truck and loader to make separate piles!

Mike Terry Anchorage Alaska, I started mining in the late 70's. I started with a gold pan then a 2inch dredge, then a 4 inch dredge, then a 6 inch dredge, then a full blown operation with D8 dozer. As my health got bad I went completely backwards till I coul no longer do any of the above. On my way backwards I built a small operation very much like yours except it was just a little larger than yours. You need to add water to your tromel to wash the gold off the rocks, and a sluice box with riffles and water to catch the gold. I do admire what you have done.

Im not a fan of the slow stuff because Im a 15 year old guy, but thats pretty cool :)
I don't suggest much most of the time . Since either it gets over looked or laughed at but here it goes . Your trumle speed needs to be faster and water should be applyed to the inside of the trumle and a secondary riffle bed should be placed underneath the trumle for the pay dirt . Also a rock slide could be added to the end to help remove the bigger rock . Thanks for the awesome vids
