Note that this match happened a loooong time ago, like 1 or 2 months after Halo 3 was released, so, we didn't know about the drop/pickup tecnique back then (ok, thats from halo 1, from wthat ive heard, but I never played CTF before halo 3 xD). Also, the Flag Runner is not me, per se, its a RL friend, a true n00b, playing as a guest. I posted the video cuz all o'this happened at my place. The real "me" is the hammer dude who gets splattered by the chopper (lol). So, it is epic, and a clear example of n00b luck.

This couldn't be repeated even if it was practiced for thousands of years, let alone by accident like this. He just keeps running in a straight line, which is usually suicide, his team mates are dying around him, all chaos has broken loose, vehicles are gunning for him and missing my millimetres, but he just keeps on running straight without looking or anything just kept his legs moving and his eyes on the prize hahaha

This is the first video I ever favorited on UA-cam back in 2007. Looking back it's amazing what I've lived through since then. I had not known Martin passed away until just now, but I, at least, will definitely remember him forever.

Well, it's been a while since I last checked my videos. And I have to say, thanks everyone for watching and for remembering Martin, it makes very happy. Some of you were asking who he was. +Van Zeph It's been 9 years now but he's still a legend. This video as well as RvB series are the 2 things that hold great memories of Halo 3 for me, probably one of the best games I've ever played. This is the point where I should say may your friend rest in peace, but that's not true, because even in heaven he's still running with the flag and making dank plays ;)

I've watched this video countless times throughout the years. Every time I watch this, the nostalgia builds up in my body greater and greater. But it also makes me full of remorse for our dear friend Martin who has died. Watching this video made me realize something very important. No matter what life throws at us, you keep moving forward, no matter what. Never look back. Martin was fighting cancer and inevitably, died. But we all know he never really died. Because Spartans never die. They just go missing in action. Halo 3 will always be the best Xbox 360 game. Rest in paradise Martin. You will never be forgotten because of this.

They let me pick. Did I ever tell you that? Choose whichever Spartan I wanted. You know me. I did my research, watched as you became the soldier we needed you to be. Like the others, you were strong and swift and brave. A natural leader. But you had something they didn't. Something no one saw but me. Can you guess? Luck... Was I wrong?
The servers may be gone now, but Martin's memory is still engrained within this video, and so is the memory of everyone here and gone that had amazing experiences with friends and strangers on this game. You may not have known it when you uploaded this fourteen years ago, but you did this community a service when you made it. Thank you.

The chronicles of Martin: From noob, to hero, to legend. It's 2021 now, rest in peace spartan.
This is the single best moment of Halo. If anyone ever asks what it was like, *this* is it. You can talk about the gameplay, or the physics, or people playing around the world against each other, but *this*--playing on a couch with your best friend, going nuts as you pull off something insane--this is what it was. And Martin is who we all were. We will never forget him and who we all were. o7, legend. Thank you for keeping this moment alive for all of us who were there.

@@hathveon I am always amazed at how that doesn't kill him. He's got no shield, the wheel hit him pretty good, yet he not only survived the hit, but also the salvo of Chopper shots afterward. That's just something you can never replicate.
Wow, I can't believe I was actually in this game! I was the one driving the mongoose, hilariously trying to run over the flag carrier. That moment is so vivid in my memory - right after I got taken out, I saw our whole team charging in with vehicles. I distinctly remember thinking to myself, 'We've got this, we're definitely getting our flag back.' The whole time, I was just baffled, wondering how on earth we didn't manage to retrieve our flag. I was like 9 years old lmao.
People eventually fall, and fade into obscurity, but it's the memories like these that live on forever. May this memory last until the end of time, and serve as a legacy for anyone who knew this man as a friend. Skill can be learned, and taught, but cooperation is a bond that must be built, and luck can strike at any time.
Rest in peace, Spartan. You've earned it.

Out of my entire Halo career from Halo CE, to now, this is hands down THE most epic Halo replay I've ever seen!

Pause @2:42 when he opens the scoreboard. All 8 players on red team are playing on 3 TVs, and half of blue team is playing splitscreen. This is what halo used to be all about. My mind was blown when halo 5 released without splitscreen. Had they simply included that I would have got an xbone as soon as it released. Gaming is so much less social nowadays. Halo n chill used to be a goto in high school to get under a blanket on the couch with a girl. In freshman year of HS only one of my friends had an xbox 360 so I used to bike 8 miles each way so we could splitscreen halo for hours on end. I'm only 24 but watching this makes me feel old af.
Anybody else miss the old halo :( compared to halo 5 this is so much better already. I already sold my xbox one but when I watch these old halo videos it makes me want Xbox again but it's not the same anymore halo 5 is nothing like the original halos like these why did bungee leave :( well it was fun while it lasted. This video is insanely special I've been watching it for years. Can we please acknowledge the amazing cinematography in this replay? This shot at 1:59 is terrifying, The chopper seems like a Predator ready to pounce on its prey. My heart stops every time I see this part, even though I know what's going to happen next. 2:08 I absolutely love this shot, with the music as the camera pans around, the Chopper hits the handbrakes and does a sharp turn swerving back so fiercely, and again finding itself only inches away from running over our hero. Barley making it out in the nick of time, he leaps his way to the finish. Utterly beautiful. Truly, a time capsule to Halo fans.
