Now, the purpose of this video is not to discredit or make lifting weights seem any less worthy. Lifting definitely is one of the best ways to get fit and I, personally, would more than likely suggest it to satisfy most people’s goals. But, it goes without saying, bodyweight training deserves just as much consideration, especially into a beginner’s program. In fact, I’ll go as far as saying that sometimes, even advanced lifters need to put down the barbell and start lifting their feet off the ground.
Best case scenario is that we all do a little bit of both.
But, at the end of the day, the choice is yours. As the old saying goes, when it comes to choosing the right program or training method, it depends on one thing… You.
PictureFit awesome videos, totally love your work
PictureFit Hey man, if you are on a cut and since you eat whole food and more high volume stuff on some rarely dayd im full and still have few hundreds left to consume. can I skip on them? the left calories are from carbs and fats, protien reached the goal (2.6gr per kg).
PictureFit I love your channel thank you so much, I used your videos to inprove my workouts and make them much better. Many thanks!!!
PictureFit : Can you talk about Tabata workout please , Seriously no body can explain things better than you do
jhon kitoo Follow me on Instagram LoL 😀
calisthenics are great and combining them with weights is much greater.
Weighted Calisthenics are boss. And you still can do all those advanced moves while building massive amounts of muscle and inhuman strength.
Jared Enloe exactly
Plus it is a lot more fun. Anyone who says Calisthenics/ Weighted Calisthenics can't build muscle is full of shit.
Jared Enloe you can build massive amount ofmuscles with calisthenics but it'll take longer than a guy that lift weights all day.
but grab the gym guy and a calisthenics guy and stop them from training for a month, the gains from the calisthenics is still there but the buffed gym dude is flat like a tired
I LOVE ME Some Calisthenics. I love lifting weights as well but learning how to do the Human Flag, Handstand Pushups without a wall and Muscle Ups just make you feel like a SuperHero in training :) just gotta do em all in One Punch, man
I shouldve guessed youd be here haha
JaxBlade ur beast man love ur channel gunna need that tutorial on the human flag my man ;)
JaxBlade Yo what are you doing arround here. I am a big fun of your chanel. That manga you recomended about body building is awsome. By the way do you know any good food plan for leaning and building muscle?
JaxBlade i only lift weights and i was able to muscle ups and handstand pushups first try. #Lifter4Life
Very impressive! Tried human flag?
I start with calisthenics two-months ago.
BEST THING I EVER DONE.
I have better results and it is free.
The gym is still a good option though.
Nice!
Marco David Montaño depends. I started calisthenics, I still do it, I love it, it shows "real muscle strength (compared to body mass)", but I only started seeing a major change in my muscles after going to the gym. Definitely both are the best.
Yeah you have to keep a progress log and try to up your reps every workout and when you get to a certain amount of reps you need to move onto a harder variation of that workout.
Me too fam felt great doing it too
yhh
Calisthenics has changed my life. The strength you obtain falls into a functional standpoint. It's a breath of fresh air coming out from behind a set of weights and really putting yourself up to the challenge. Your ego may suffer a bit, but you'll bounce back twice as strong.
I totally agree with everything in this video! I do both calisthenics and weight lifting, but the feeling of satisfaction when you unlock a new calisthenics movement that you've been trying for months is so righteous! You walk around with absolute confidence because although you might not be the biggest guy in the gym, you know that you can command your body in ways those big guys could only dream of.
Awesome perspective!
Awesome video!
Ayeee Browney!
YOU ARE SUCH A HUUUUUUGE INSPIRATION FOR ME, STAN!!! I LOVE YOU AND YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCHHHH ❤️❤️❤️

Calesthenics revives the the skills of the lost millennium age when our ancestors used their body as a tool to survive
Nice!
Very nice answer, i like it!
Greatest comment in this section
Imran Iqbal did our ancestors run from lions by doing a muscle up then stay there flexing their abs?
If I was a lion and some Neanderthal ape looking monster began rapidly flexing his muscles at me I would leave him alone
And calisthenics can greatly help you perform flips and other gymnastics skills that can make you a talented muscle builder who can show cool moves at parties or something.
TRUUUUUUUUUUUE! Those skills just shows how much better you control your body then everyone else.
Not just at the gym you can end being a ego lifter 👁
Jesus Christ stfu Jesus
Grigorici Laurentiu For the duration of your teenage life it sure is. Work your ass of to rake in dough, blow a quarter of it on booze. It's a good life.
If you do a backflip at a party you're automatically the coolest guy there.
I was lifting weights for around a year. I get bored really fast since I always got to the gym and repeated the same thing everyday. After quitting gym for a while, my friend introduced me to calisthenics. We have so much fun working out trying to achieve different moves/ positions, etc.
that is the main reason i quit going to the gym lmao, i just have an ''home'' gym with big compound movemens and that is it. but i cant be asked with doing bicep curls, or shoulder presses etc. like it bores me to death.
with calistenics you have so many options, and i do it combined with kettlebells. works amazing. and it is way more fun too
@@verbon47 yes same
This. People need to know the big point of calisthenics is to feel like you're sone sort of a anime protagonist in training. New variations, new styles, harder intensity, it's practically discovering what your own body could do and being great at each and every single one of them
Calisthenics is also very practical as it can help the body overcome physical obstacles so calisthenics is great at preparing people to do things like rope climbing, getting over walls, or any other physical obstacle that a human might face.
There shouldn't be a battle between gym and calisthenics, depending on your goal one is more suited than the other. However, for overall fitness ability and aesthetics, combining the two will give you the best results.
Agreed!
I started training again six months ago, using cardio such as running and calesthenics to get in shape. It works wonders!
Yay,*driving* to a gym where i will *run* on a machine :/
nifoa dsa hey that’s fuckin fay
Gay
nifoa dsa You wouldn't believe how many people in my gym actually do that
BaronGaming in my gym to
Wow
The real question is, how do I get 2 biceps on one arm at 4:10
Ethan Deng those are his delts
Ethan Deng that makes it quadriceps I guess lol.
it's his trap, then delt and bicep
Hope for you that you don't have your delts at that location
That's a really weird fucking delt then
I started out my lifting with weights and power lifting. Then after 2 years, I began calisthenics and I love it to death and it's pretty much all I do now. I've gotten to the point where I can consider myself an Intermediate/Advanced calisthenic athlete (I can hold front/back levers, human flags, L-sits, muscle ups, [no planche yet though lol], and handstands). Yet, my own PERSONAL OPINION is that calisthenics may not be the best for beginners initially. I believe they need fundamental muscle strength FIRST before attempting full body weight exercises (Ex. Lat pull downs before pull ups. Bench press before push-ups) because it will be more beneficial and decrease risk of injury. I've helped train my friends in calisthenics but found it very difficult since they don't have fundamental strength (minimal gains/progress). I started by working out with them using weights to build that foundation. About half a year later, we returned to calisthenics and found much more benefits. Some friends were even able to learn the muscle up in just a month of training.
BOTTOM LINE: I have found in MY OPINION: Having a strong strength foundation greatly increases calisthenic improvements.
Btw calisthenics isn't for everyone for the main reason that it takes the most amount of time and dedication to get to an advanced level (in my opinion) and like PictureFit says: IT DEPENDS [on YOUR personal goals].
Great story
How to start calisthenics bro
How did you start?
Best explain about Calisthenics ever
Hey, thanks!
@@PictureFit You re welcome
How about a video on the benefits (and possible drawbacks) of running.
According to the bulker's Broscience it makes you lose all your gains within minutes, causes cancer and kills you right after 40 minutes due to cortisol overdose. You should focus on biceps curls because it's the much more natural movement.
Web crawler Omar you need to listen to these bulkers broscience!
Web crawler wow such science
Hah, I'll see what I can do!
I tried running once, now im a vegan lesbian
I’m 14, 5,11, used to be 250 and currently down to 225...I just want to say thank you for all this help, your videos have definitely helped me understand and actually go about to getting and shape and making my life better in general. Thank you so much man 🤟
IT DEPENDS
Hey Hey nah not this time, he want to earn money on a product tied to the exercise so for once he thinks virtually everyone should be doing it...
Kiwipai He's giving actual information but in exchange of course he has to advertise some sponsored items
For me calisthenics is best because you could gain strength by doing pushups and work your way to a pull up and so on this dude is just trying to be helpful
No
Is it really that hard to do them both? Im a bodybuilder, but I go to the park with my friends and do calisthenics. BUT REALLY we need to team up and stop CrossFit they don't know how to lift weights and dont know how to do calisthenics lol.
In my country we call Crossfit calisthenics for women.
Yea seriously I do both. I Mostly do body building but calisthenics go hand in hand with it

I love doing calisthenics while watching youtube videos.
The best type of calisthenics.
I just worked out using my Lebert Fitness bars last night. Definitely a great addition to my calisthenic equipment.
Also, I entirely agree with the benefits you outlined and they are the very reasons why I started my calisthenic journey in the first place. I am glad there are others who share this view.
In order to further debunk the myth of not being able to build muscle doing calisthenics. I am currently in the process of creating different fitness programs that will be released later this year.
For begginers its probably the best to start gainning some streng and start to feel the muscels, bc many start without knowing what they are doing or dont feel it in the right way, and either if a person only want to look good its more than enought bc if you learn to apply resistance in the right way you can go far
L
I love calaesthetics its amazing. when I got my one arm push up I was so happy, and now I get a lot of reaction out of it.
Love lifting and calisthenics, a mix of the two is best imo
I just got the chrome xl equalizer bars and i have used them every day for a week straight, just doing the basics, inverted rows, dips, Australian chin ups which really blasts the biceps 💪 and push ups, and i weighed myself today and i lost 4lbs and my body fat also went down as well. I never thought i would like calisthenics but i fell in love with it and i honestly feel great. Now I'm doing pike push ups for my shoulders and I'm working my way to handstand push ups hopefully within 6 months
4:04 that's what i call double biceps
I personally like Calisthenics and gymnastics a lot and when i train it feels just amazing to be outside on a park doing what you love ;) But i have to say for Legs i prefer combining Calisthenics and weights for better results jajaja
Yep, for legs, calisthenics gets a big shaky. But there are definitely great variations, such as the pistol squats.
AirPlayer Do Isometric Squats your legs will be screaming and combine with the others things your doing you will be super strong
same
@@PictureFit yeah and a lot of jumping movements called plyometrics
@@Gold833 yeah i do that
Being able to do 10 maximum range of motion pull-ups is just so satisfying
Love your videos, Keep it up! I do both weights and calisthenics but the problem with calisthenics is that there aren't very many options at all when it comes to working out legs
get a kettlebell or a weigth vest. iknow its technicaly not calistenics anymore then, but it iis way more fun.
it is 100% fam.Include a lot lot lot of plyometrics in ur leg routine. It will burn ur legs in minuts trust me
@@verbon47 yeah
I'm a simple man. I see a new PictureFit video up, I view it.
REALLY INTERESTING !! Please do more videos about Calisthenics !
I will try!
6'2 285 pound man here, down from 365, and my dream is to one day do a pull up unassisted. It might be a normal thing to be able to do for a lot of you but I've been working on it for months now and it keeps me motivated to keep pushing.
how did it turn out?
I started with calisthenic, and now include weights to my exercises. Interestingly enough, doing both kind of workouts can improve greatly for more advance calisthenics techniques. Training squats with weights, gave me that extra push of raw strength, so I can do pistol squats more easily now. I recommend that people should do both, you get the best of both worlds.
Yep, there is definitely a transfer of skill you can utilize with both!
Love your videos. Keep up the good work!!
First of all you missed the ultimate tool... the Rings :D
on the other hand and to further your talk about calisthenics, both power lifters and Weight lifters uses this to get strength and body awareness so it helps every one and is a grate addition to any workout routine
Rings are definitely great! Definitely can benefit those people as well.
I started with Calisthenics and moved on to hypertrophy training followed by strength training. But Calisthenics definitely built up a massive amount of base strength that is the cornerstone to my strength today :) it's definitely something to look into for beginners trying to build functional strength
Sooner or Later People will realize that calisthenics+heavy leg workout at gym(deadlifts,squats.etc... ) Is the key to power, flexability and speed.
Thanks
Wait, flexibility?
this video is going to make me get back into the basics that were in this video! Still even good to do when you're lifting weights! thanks for sharing
Let me guess, it depends...
MISTERBONG228 always the same comment....
MISTERBONG228 that doesn't make sense cuz the title isn't a question
let me guess, you didn't read the title of the video
let me guess you just copy and paste
MISTERBONG228 you are fucking dumb
I do calisthenics for a long time and I am on a stage going to more challenging progressions I can do L-sits, Typewriter Pull Ups, Clapping Push ups and Wall Supported Handstand. Calisthenics is the best for me. Nice video PictureFit.
A wise man once said: "Calisthenics falls somewhere between magic and breakdancing, its definitely a step up from magic, which is showing girls how easily you can roofie them, but its not as cool as breakdancing"
Used to do weight training for strength a while ago, stopped for over a year then began training exclusively with calisthenics (except for squats). I can say it's so much more fulfilling being able to handle your own body weight.
can the next video be about the science of foam rolling? thanks! love your videos
That certainly sounds like a good idea!
I love any type of fitness, be it bodyweight, weightlifting cycling or walking. I would like to think I have very good knowledge of fitness but PictureFit continues to expand my knowledge. Thank you. Video shared on my Twitter page. :)
Please do a video on Running
Or maybe a video on Swimming?
You don't have to but it would be really appreciated! Love your videos!
I 100% agree with this. Started basic calisthenics when I was 10, and started doing more advanced movements when I was 14. When I took the weight training class at my high school at 14 , I was well above everyone else in the class. Calisthenics are the perfect start for anyone wanting to improve there physical well-being.
I cannot stress how much I love calisthenics. It is free, convenient, get's results fast and you get small but actually useful muscles. Full body workout is the way that our ancestors got fit and it's just so much more natural and more appealing to me then going to a cramped, sweaty room full of meatheads lifting weights.
I can totally agree to this. Boot camp made me drop only 4 pounds of bodyweight however I dropped almost 5 inches around my waist. All from the random IT sessions in 2 months. But it is good to use weights from time to time
When he says pull-ups are basic, yet you can't even lift yourself up on the bar 😔😔😔
LTHL Blade try Australian pull ups, even more basic and most people have the capacity to do at least 1 ThenX has a good guide to it.
Try losing weight. *From my experience*, even 1 kilogram bigger than your normal weight REALLY AFFECTS your ability to do pull up
@@fracklo Another thing is to practise more shoulder rows, if you are struggling to get the chin over the bar often its because the shoulders are not strong enough to do it.
Just do dead hangs. I'm late but Dead hangs are a great way to progress to pull ups it works like a charm! Ik you can probably do a pull up now but for beginners out there just do hangs
I agreeeeee with this video completly! The creativity, coordination and body awareness factor definitely became a staple to why I choose to stick with calisthenics after trying out other means of fitness and sports.
You should do a video on Coconut oil/ MCT oil is it healthy in moderation or not?
This is definitely in the books. Check out my video on bulletproof if you can. I touch on MCT oil a little bit.
JasonLeeno There's a BBC article about a recent study saying that coconut oils are just as bad for you than all the other stuff.
Ansel Vaz I'm aware but that study was based off of an advisory by the AHA where they only tested 7 people. This topic seems worth a further investigation.
Thank you im gonna do calisthenics and get muscle and loose all my fat for the first time in my life i would like to personally thank you for this video your a legend
Great content, I just wanted to give you some topics to make a video about:
effect of Chilli/capsacin on fat loss?
Stretching, when/frequency?
Foam rolling, When/frequency?
Could you please please PLEASE!!! talk about the 7 minute workout?
Does it work?
And... Why do they call it the "perfect" routine?
love it. sums up what I've been saying and practicing for years. obviously need to hit a few heavy lifts as well but Calisthenics FTW
Never really thought about Calisthenics 😂. I go to the gym and never even look at the bar because I can't lift my body weight for 3 sets
Jailan Simon 2 pullup max squad right here. ✋😂
ye i was like that 14d ago i can do 5 now
Matthew Hawkins 20. To be fair I also weigh a lot (I'm working out in the gym only muscles and do calisthenics at home)
lel pull ups is the ultimate exersice even praised by bodybuilders.
4 months ago i couldnt make 1 but now i do 20 easily

calisthenics can be just as well used to build muscle. Just check out the channel FitnessFAQs
Of course but Dan add weight to his calisthenics moves
Yeah that guy is amazing. Goes in with the actual advice not just doing stupid moves like crossfit people.
rhythmandacoustics one more to recommend is calisthenics movement.those guys are 100% natural and only does calis move
This video singlehandedly simplified the way I can see the shape of the body.😭🤩
Should you workout after being up all night at work? I got a new job at night and I'm usually tired and I'm gaining weight now. Sometimes i get 12 hour shifts and it's hard labor constantly sweating.
I would say yeah but limit the time of how you work our maybe about 10 to 20 mins. U can also go up to 30 mins depends how you're body react.
Anthony Burgos I used to have the same problem working at a bar and didn't get back till 4-6am. Definitely try to squeeze a workout in before work or as soon as you get up. Get those endorphins goin so work passes by easier.
Anthony Burgos yeah, in study u need at least 30 mins go 1 hour of workout a day
Thanks guys! I'm losing it and I'm always tired during the day so i should get home and get some sleep and then workout and then get some rest before work or should i go right after work?
You're amazing. What u said is absolutely right. I do calisthenics and I'm an advanced guy. Hope u keep it up buddy :)
I do 100 Push-ups 100-Sit up
100 Squats and I run a 10k Every single day!
George Tello That's all useless if you use air conditioning or heating. And you better be eating 3 meals a day!
You are probably Weak AF.

Weighted Dips and weighted Pullups are one of the best mass builders and have carryover to other exercises , never neglect them
Fuck the gym, calisthenics all the way.
lmao
I love calistenics. Since I mix some with my trainings and work posture I finally make gains
If I do calisthenics will I be gay? Please make a video about this
Rainbow Looms Long answer made short. No.
It depends
Rainbow Looms maybe
you're already gay. Why ask? to be gayer? gayest?
Rainbow Looms bitch you just want a reason to be gay
I love the thump nail, that guy has sure done some calisthenics with his left arm😂
Hah, you know what's funny? I actually drew the left arm much smaller initially. I guess I overcompensated.
Attempting and failing to do pull-ups week after week in a public park while all the kids laugh at you is not going to improve your confidence or self image.
Get over that Wall I started with push ups and once I got good at it I did chin ups and then pull ups then muscle ups which are really hard
Get over that Wall Do it in the night no kids will be there
Just buy a pull up bar wich are usually cheap and start out by kipping. You're probably failing because your body is not used to the movement
Lmao who give a fuck abt stupid kids , or u can just do pullups at ur home with a pullup bar until u get better
Lets turn a negative into a positive , just think of the opportunity you got here , those kids laugh at you now but those same kids are gonna see you 6-12 months from now killin it , do more pull ups and hopefully other bad ass variations and a ripped physique and instead of mocking you they gonna think you a badass and want to be just like you , they watched your journey and they know what it will take and you just influenced those kids in more ways than you can think of and introduced them to what hard work and motivation can achieve you will give them one the great life lessons so many kids in this generation are missing out on until its too late
I'm in my early 40s now, I didn't understand or appreciate calisthenics (and gymnastics) until my mid 30s. I was first inspired by handstands and muscle ups back then. Knowing what I know now, I wish I got into gymnastics as a kid. It's really a lot of fun, and the spatial body awareness and control that is developed over time is absolutely priceless and carries over in many other ways. I train with weights too, but the bulk of my work is calisthenics based, I really enjoy it.
I just go to planet fitness 😄😄😄

I do 400 push-ups challenge, it so exhausting. But it change my body. I love it❤️

Arsenal and Barca fan For life I struggle with pullups aswell. xd
yup its true once u get the Lsit or any hardmove its truly rewarding ,i felt like it was the best day i ever had whn i got the Lsit ,in the begining i culd bearly do 5 or 8 dips but i kept going knowing i can acheive my goals
what to do for people who come to the gym and just show off calisthenic moves and barely lift weights... -.-
Ignore them.
1:12 it would be nice if the parks I live near would install calisthenics/gymnastics equipment. They did have equipment, but they tore the park down and rebuilt it. They added frisby courses, a new playground, new courts and fields for baseball, tennis, and lacrosse/soccer. They did not add gymnastics equipment though.
I wish I can start calisthenics, but I can't barely do a muscle up :/ lmaoo
I love this channel

Rainbow Looms .....what?
it depends...
if you use a d1ldo while doing it, you will

Do you think doing muscle ups or one arm chin ups/push ups looks gay? I'd rather be that guy than doing front raises
Nice. Liking the love for calisthenics lately.
... now do one on plant based diets! C'monnnn, you know you wanna.
Meh. No thanks. I'll stick to lifting weights.
Sounds good!
But you have to admit it is less flexible and has it's limitations. Personal preference anyway.
less flexible absolutely not, but does it have limitation? Yes.
Definitely less flexible in isolating and bringing up specific muscles.
sometimes i think that people don't understand the meaning of flexible.

Amazing vid man! calisthenics has motivated me to create my own company and share with other people who want to do calisthenics, but now I'm starting to do weighted calisthenics for mass and conditioning. anyways Thanks for the vids man!
I do mostly calisthenics for strength training b/c it looks cool, especially as a female who can do a muscle up
This video is amazing
The only equipment you need for calisthenics is a pair of rings and a tree with a branch. Any pull-up bar, dips bar, etc can be emulated with rings. Not only that, it gives you great stabilizers, which a bar would not.
