    Now, the purpose of this video is not to discredit or make lifting weights seem any less worthy. Lifting definitely is one of the best ways to get fit and I, personally, would more than likely suggest it to satisfy most people’s goals. But, it goes without saying, bodyweight training deserves just as much consideration, especially into a beginner’s program. In fact, I’ll go as far as saying that sometimes, even advanced lifters need to put down the barbell and start lifting their feet off the ground.
    Best case scenario is that we all do a little bit of both.
    But, at the end of the day, the choice is yours. As the old saying goes, when it comes to choosing the right program or training method, it depends on one thing… You.

    Calisthenics has changed my life. The strength you obtain falls into a functional standpoint. It's a breath of fresh air coming out from behind a set of weights and really putting yourself up to the challenge. Your ego may suffer a bit, but you'll bounce back twice as strong.

    I totally agree with everything in this video! I do both calisthenics and weight lifting, but the feeling of satisfaction when you unlock a new calisthenics movement that you've been trying for months is so righteous! You walk around with absolute confidence because although you might not be the biggest guy in the gym, you know that you can command your body in ways those big guys could only dream of.

    I was lifting weights for around a year. I get bored really fast since I always got to the gym and repeated the same thing everyday. After quitting gym for a while, my friend introduced me to calisthenics. We have so much fun working out trying to achieve different moves/ positions, etc.

      This. People need to know the big point of calisthenics is to feel like you're sone sort of a anime protagonist in training. New variations, new styles, harder intensity, it's practically discovering what your own body could do and being great at each and every single one of them

    • @nvgboiyes6386
      @nvgboiyes6386 2 роки тому

      Calisthenics is also very practical as it can help the body overcome physical obstacles so calisthenics is great at preparing people to do things like rope climbing, getting over walls, or any other physical obstacle that a human might face.

    There shouldn't be a battle between gym and calisthenics, depending on your goal one is more suited than the other. However, for overall fitness ability and aesthetics, combining the two will give you the best results.

    I started out my lifting with weights and power lifting. Then after 2 years, I began calisthenics and I love it to death and it's pretty much all I do now. I've gotten to the point where I can consider myself an Intermediate/Advanced calisthenic athlete (I can hold front/back levers, human flags, L-sits, muscle ups, [no planche yet though lol], and handstands). Yet, my own PERSONAL OPINION is that calisthenics may not be the best for beginners initially. I believe they need fundamental muscle strength FIRST before attempting full body weight exercises (Ex. Lat pull downs before pull ups. Bench press before push-ups) because it will be more beneficial and decrease risk of injury. I've helped train my friends in calisthenics but found it very difficult since they don't have fundamental strength (minimal gains/progress). I started by working out with them using weights to build that foundation. About half a year later, we returned to calisthenics and found much more benefits. Some friends were even able to learn the muscle up in just a month of training.
    BOTTOM LINE: I have found in MY OPINION: Having a strong strength foundation greatly increases calisthenic improvements.
    Btw calisthenics isn't for everyone for the main reason that it takes the most amount of time and dedication to get to an advanced level (in my opinion) and like PictureFit says: IT DEPENDS [on YOUR personal goals].

    I 100% agree with this. Started basic calisthenics when I was 10, and started doing more advanced movements when I was 14. When I took the weight training class at my high school at 14 , I was well above everyone else in the class. Calisthenics are the perfect start for anyone wanting to improve there physical well-being.

    I cannot stress how much I love calisthenics. It is free, convenient, get's results fast and you get small but actually useful muscles. Full body workout is the way that our ancestors got fit and it's just so much more natural and more appealing to me then going to a cramped, sweaty room full of meatheads lifting weights.

    I'm in my early 40s now, I didn't understand or appreciate calisthenics (and gymnastics) until my mid 30s. I was first inspired by handstands and muscle ups back then. Knowing what I know now, I wish I got into gymnastics as a kid. It's really a lot of fun, and the spatial body awareness and control that is developed over time is absolutely priceless and carries over in many other ways. I train with weights too, but the bulk of my work is calisthenics based, I really enjoy it.

    The only equipment you need for calisthenics is a pair of rings and a tree with a branch. Any pull-up bar, dips bar, etc can be emulated with rings. Not only that, it gives you great stabilizers, which a bar would not.
