- Hi Friends, my name is Callum aka wanderloots. In this tutorial video, I share How I Published My Obsidian Notes Website For Free as a Digital Garden 🏡.
I explain how you can selectively publish notes from your Obsidian vault to your own website using GitHub, Netlify, & the Digital Garden Plugin for Obsidian (all links below). Choosing which notes to publish is as easy as clicking a single button. Note, you can also use this same process for publishing a blog OR a digital garden; the choice is up to you.
This tutorial is no-code and *by far* the easiest way I've discovered to publish my notes for free, so I hope you find it helpful!
I also explain how you can connect a custom domain to your new website for a small fee (mine cost $2/year) so that readers can find your website more easily (e.g., mine is wanderloots.xyz). Finally, I include a free way for you to secure your custom domain with encryption so that you can better protect your website (free if you use Netlify like I did). I include more details on the settings needed in the links section below.

Dear Wanderloots. Excellent and insightful video. Many thanks. Two questions if you could kindly assist
1. I have a Obsidian Vault set up and would like to upload multiple existing notes. Is there a way to do this without manually adding the properties to each note?
2. Many of my notes have images imbedded in them but the images are not being uploaded to my site- how do I get the images to upload along with my notes? Currently only the file path uploads.

1) I would try the "multi-properties" plugin. It seems to do what you are looking for. You can either select the files you want to batch add the property to, or select an entire folder (e.g., all files in "digital garden" folder). Then, you right click, select add properties to notes in folder, and would select the checkbox option --> dg-publish --> checked & checkbox --> dg-home --> UNchecked (except for the home note). 2) Hmm, do you have the "use full resolution images" button checked in Digital Garden Plugin --> Appearance Settings? Try that and see if it helps 😊

@@Wanderloots Thank you for the advise with multiple properties. I am still unable to upload the images with my notes to the site (I have confirmed that my use full resolution images are selected). Should my images be upload to my GitHub repository?
My pleasure! Hope it worked 😊. Your images should automatically upload to GitHub when included, depending on how you have your image structure in obsidian. There are two options when you copy a file into obsidian for embedding:
1) it leaves the file in place and references the image location via Obsidian.
2) it creates a copy of the image at a location you have set (e.g., _attachments folder).
Check to see under Settings --> Files & Links --> Default Location For New Attachments to see if they are going into a folder that is WITHIN your vault that is published with the Digital Garden Plugin.
If not, it's possible that, while you can see the file in Obsidian, the Digital Garden Plugin can't find it because it's not in your vault.
