Agreed on the paywall...Safety features should not be behind Fitbit premium, in fact none of it should when no other watch maker does this...
Paywalling features is enough reason for me to not get this watch.
@@roethlethank god others don’t do this. I mean except apple, who advertised it’s watch BIG as divewatch, only to put it behind a paywall subscription. Oh, and if you are a developer and want to get access to the new apis? Ca-ching! Oh, and Ticwatch obviously, where you get the sleep tracking if you pay a subscription. Oh, and Huawei with their music feature, which only can be used with an subscription. Doesn’t misunderstand me, it’s a shitty thing to do. But google isn’t the first to do so, by a long shot. Apple does it, and if they get trough others follow. It’s the same thing with the removed chargers when you buy a new phon3 today…

I pre-ordered and the watch was included. I paid the extra $50 for lte specifically to use the safety features without carrying my phone. I didn't know it would require a subscription 😕 Might just sell it...

Thank you for mentioning the stainless steel on the first Pixel watch I definitely prefer the stainless I've only had my pixel first gen watch for 2 Weeks. Got it on sale £200 im loving it battery life great for me as i don't use the fitness i use it for WhatsApp texting emails phone calls google pay and sleep tracking battery lasts me nearly 2 days i use tap to wake also just got the new update OS 4 .Im still enjoying my GW4 as well for different reasons. GREAT REVIEW AS ALWAYS ❤
Great review, thank you! So something that wasn't mentioned, probably because it's a small thing, but I'm assuming they have not updated the functionality that the Pixel Watch 2 does not register a Google Maps navigation session when initiated through Android Auto. If you start it from the watch itself or the phone itself it will give directions prompts on the watch, but for some reason not when initiated through Android Auto (even though that's technically being initiated from the phone as well). Hopefully they update that soon, likely a server side thing.

Come on don't nit pick..😂..The charger is not annoying....the magnet is very strong and goes into place so easily!

Bought this October 19th. The screen glitches at least once per day, requiring a hard reset. I'm already in the RMA process. They get one more chance to get me a reliable product. If they fail, I want my money back.

Safety check is part of the Fitbit premium services??? Though I didn’t watch all of Googles event they really made it seem like it was just like apple’s check in feature. Imagine stories of people being able to get help if this wasn’t behind that wall

I thought that was safety signal that was the fitbit premium thing. Thought safety check and signal were two different things.

Lovin the new look Lisa! As for the watch...41mm is just too small though. That watch needs to be bigger. The charger situation is not ideal at all.

I am so torn between this watch and the Mobvoi Tic Pro 5. What keeps me coming back to this one is that the Tic Pro 5 left out Google Voice Assistant and their habit of being very slow on OS updates and patches. But everything else like I said I am torn.
The data accuracy is also quite a bit better in the Pixel Watch 2. And the software is cleaner with less apps. TicWatch 5 Pro has much better battery life though.
what about the data collection for users? That is a high dollar value when Google will take your data and sell it.

Fitbit offered me another 6 month trial on my Pixel Watch 2 after my Pixel Watch 1 trial expired here in Canada!

My watch just came today.. and this watch is TINY...and I'm not a big guy.. it's like for kids
It's bigger than most Casio watches we used to have in the 90s. I'm a guy but admittedly with not big wrists. The PW2 looks fine to me.
The size makes it more comfortable and even you don't notice you are wearing it even when sleeping.
Having said that, they should offer a bigger version next year when PW3 releases.
I am getting less than one day with the display set to tilt to wake , charging twice a day
I got 30h with a 2h hike, Hey Google on, Told to Wake on, AOD off, GPS on.
I don't have WhatsApp, Gmail, Google Fit or third party watch faces installed.
There is no fucking way I'm going to subscribe to my watch software, especially one that can't even do distance consistently. WTF?!?!?

That's a nice watch, thanks for another great review. I live in Apple land so their Series 9, 45mm watch appeals to me more, especially with my big wrists (and no subscription).
But I'm pretty sure you pay a lot of fees with Apple' ecosystem (iTunes, etc).

By "diving watch" do you mean their Ultra? If so can you tell me what subscription you're referring to? I can't find any reference on the Apple site. Also, although the iPhones no longer come with a charger, just the cable, the watches come with a mag charger in the box.
Why does NOBODY talk about the fact the cellular connectivity is COMPLETERLY UNRELIABLE?
The issue i hate with Pixel watch isn't the subscription. It's how crappy Wear OS really is. They have revamped it but my favorite watch TicWatch Pro 3 didn't get Wear OS 3.0 until 2 years later because it was very buggy and Google left Mobvoi out to dry. Honestly the battery life is poor and I am not going to purchase them until they issue these two factors.
I like the brutal bezel! These peephole displays help me to focus on the information in the center (because no display outside the center)!
@4:10 I don't think that's true, I think the 6 months of fitbit premium is for new and existing users. The UA-cam premium with a new phone is new users only. I'll double check that but I think that's the case.
It wouldn't let me have the 6 months free since I'd already had a free 6 month trial with the OG Pixel Watch (that ended quite some time ago).
It worked for me, I got 6 months from OG pixel watch and pixel watch 2 as well.

@@mobiletechreviewyes, we were allowed the 6 months free trial again after having the first watch. Maybe it's inconsistent🤔
So I've gone through the process, I can confirm it works but it is super confusing. All you have to do is select the monthly payment prompt (as if you are not getting the free 6 months) and after you progress to the next screen you will see that the payments don't start for 183 days. So it does work for everyone but I think it's super counter intuitive and confusing.
Not even a consideration for me with the small size and giant bezel.

Returning mine. Dies way too fast
Mine died very fast the first day when I was installing, updating, and touching it a lot. The following days have been great. 30h with a tracked 2h hike with GPS, Tilt to Wald and Hey Google on. Before that even longer than 30h

This watch is junk in my personal opinion. My old Gear S3 Frontier still has more functionality than this thing, even being paired with an iPhone now, and without the subscription bs.
