Jann had so much potential and people say he didn't want to take more risk during National final with his performance not to "offend" the more conservative part of the country. Had it won, Gladiator would have had such a glowup in Liverpool my goodness my hearts broken rn
The more conservative part of the country also thinks of Blanka as a whore. This was personally told to me
They really took themselves out the game with this choice. The jury should be ashamed. Jann had the energy this ESC selection needed
I'm from poland and I totally agree. W have really corrupt television and it was their decision...😥we all want Jann on eurovision,
we are collecting signatures for an online petition for jann to represent us
Gladiator is a masterpiece, an original and hypnotic composition with meaningful lyrics. Jann slayed the performance too. Poland threw away a top 10 placement for something that's a borderline qualifier at best, truly the greatest tragedy of the NFs in 2023.
Not even a borderline qualifier, straight up a NQ.
with these vocals she will not be in the final show
Gladiator sucks and he can’t sing
@@Scheherasad It's a SF 2 though, some crappy upbeat pop entry is going to Q.
I have no problem that it’s a basic pop song, I have a problem that it’s not even a good basic pop song.
This sounds like something you would hear at Junior Eurovision
But ironicly the polish kid could definetly sing way better.
I'm sorry but the songs on junior eurovision end up being better than some of the songs on adult eurovision , especially 2022 had alot of good songs even Malta and Kazhakstan who finished at the bottom were better than this song...... this is so bad you can't even compare it to Junior eurovision ..... The vocals aren't there and the song isn't competitive at least not for eurovision 🙈
Poland absolutely slay at JESC, this is not on the same level at all.
They should internally select vikki gabor
It requires a special skill to create such a totally beige song as Solo.
This sucks right? - Yes, I feel you girl... I'm so upset.
Jann is the true winner !!
up
Why so salty?
Facts
@@DdumbaStyle I mean I was no big fan of Jann either but facts are facts, they changed the rules last minute to favour jury, a jurymember choreographed Blanka's song, she spent the final with Edyta's son (the main juror's son) and Blanka has been promoted by TVP for months... It smells fishy
@@shroomyesct is fishy I am not a Gladiator fan but it was the best option tbh
Going forward, please don't call this song "Poland's choice" it was TVP's choice. And they, for all intents and purposes, staged a NF to gouge televote money while going through with their internal selection. Sickening.
really sicking..yes your right it TVPs choice and deeper this homophic political goverment choice😩
But she finished 2nd with the televote, which says that people also liked it
@@sandbox5500 2nd. So quite clearly not first. Therefore by definition not the public's choice.
@@sandbox5500 not necessarily
@@sandbox5500 2nd means nothing without seeing by how much percentage-wise or vote-wise. Jann was the clear favourite so it could've been even 60% for Jann and 10% for Blanka.
I can’t like an entry that won a rigged national final. I stand with Polish people and their sadness. She is not the winner.
Thank you. If she doesn't resign I don't want her to qualify to the final. I wish to watch the final without being embarassed about Blanka representing us.
PLEASE READ AND SHARE: i need to point out something, what's missing in the video and in comments - the voting scandal. And i'm going to present the facts only, i'm not playing rumours. TVP (national broadcaster) changed voting rules just a few days before the national final. Those changes made it harder for televoting winner to win overall. All members of the jury were associated with TVP and one of them even prepared choreo for Blanka for this exact song, just for other occasion - Blanka actually performed "Solo" on several TVP programmes. Presentation of the voting results wasn't transparent - only summarized jury votes were read out by the head jury and she obviously wasn't realizing what she was reading. Televoting results weren't presented at all - hosts read out the final results right away. Only on the next day TVP showed televoting results with eurovisional scale - Jann won, Blanka was second. Head jury's interviews about the jury voting after the national final are also very shady. Polish Eurovision fans and medias are pushing on TVP to reveal the exact numbers of televotes given to every contestant, votes of the particular members of the jury and explain how those members were chosen and how TVP ensured they are not linked to any of the contestants.
Throw the jury away for real real
But to be honest, I don't hate this song, it's not too low in my rankings cause the year isn't really that strong anyways
Still, Gladiator was winner potential, the studio cut in itself would be my #1 so far, live it was a bit underwhealming
but it could be fixed and perfected by May
I had hope for Poland after river, but that hope has flown away, and I am left solo.
had you used "flowed" (past tense of flow) it would have fit with your idea of flowing like a river. However, you used "flown" (past participle of fly) which just doesn't really fit.
I’m convinced none of the countries take notes of their success or failure formulas. Which is so perplexing when you realize participation ain’t free. They’re paying to be sent after semi day.
It's not people's choice! We like this song, but only on the radio! Poles went crazy about Jann and his Gladiator and voted for him! The jury of several people brazenly disregarded the people and chose themselves! How can that be?! Jann won the people's vote and the jury didn't care! The bookies predicted Jann in 6th place, and now we have no chance. Shame TVP1 Eurowizja TVP !
I feel for the people of Poland, I have no doubt Jann would've been your no1 choice by far. It's really shameful what TVP and the juries did.
Poland showing the problem that comes with national selections that are based on juries is that at the end of the day, socially conservative countries will just take themselves out of the competition before they'll promote anything that is pushing the boundaries of gender, sexuality, or musicality. It really sucks this with Eurovision, a celebration of diversity, inclusion, and musicality that a throwaway little Katy Perry album cutting room floor diddie is being pushed by a jury of 'experts'. Why should Poland be limited by the sensibilities of people that don't even want anything to do with the competition?
I hope that Branka doesn't face any personal hate or vitriol because this isn't her fault , just as it hasn't been the fault of people before. Part of me also hopes that Poland would learn a lesson somehow. They are not a country that should ever be struggling qualify, and yet they are chosing to do this to themselves (the broadcaster, not the people).
The last bit aged like milk. Poles have gained evidence that she and her family have had lots of physical involvement in getting the national finals rigged. She is not innocent, especially because she's been protecting her brother who supports Russia in the war.
I don't think we'll be in the "winner potential" area until the government changes. Like, f real.
Tbf it wasn’t really that much better prior to 2015 - it’s about the culture within the national broadcaster TVP which has been going for far longer
@@matt_maciek That is true.
Alesia we are so sorry for the choice, it wasn't even our choice at the end of the day it seems ;-;
I'm just so sick and tired of corrupted broadcasters that don't let the public choose the artist after all, I mean why would you even hold a national selection if the song is already decided beforehand (like my ass Blanca with a performance like that would score any jury point in Eurovision)...Gladiator would have won the second semi-final and given it quality so you could look forward to watching it. I'm trying to stay optimistic about this year but after all the mishaps with national selections like in Belgium, Lithuania, and now Poland, I get why people would call this year weak, it's because so many wrong songs have been chosen 😞
I cant beleive that your jury voted for this
I agree, how on earth did a jury put 'Solo' first when the first minute of her performance was just bum notes? Like which jury rewards bum notes? So obviously rigged wtf
Agustin Egurrola who was in the jury choreographed her dancers and Edyta Górniak's son is friends with Blanka (Górniak is in the jury too). Also, Blanka has performed in a program in TVP and during New Year's Eve concert on TV. It couldn't be any more rigged.
@@Vescilla Lmao this is Chanel's history over and over again. I get it's unfair and everything but poor girl
@@user-zh9vf9hd2l right, the difference is that Chanel can sing, can dance and even though SloMo is far from being my kind of music, the work put into it and the professionalism really shined through.
@@Roxannah79 Exactly, and Chanel winning the juries at that time was wayy more logical and realistic knowing how polished her performance was.
You say it a lot but being able to hit the note should be a MINIMUM requirement for anyone going to Eurovision. The fact we still have acts winning selections that need to hit that basic threshold before talking about staging/styling/camera/etc. is wild to me.
Yes, but this isn't the first time this is happening in Poland, remember 2021? At least, Solo isn't as boring and forgettable as The Ride.
We all as Poles voted for Jann it’s the jury that crashed our hopes for the top 10 in the Final. Sooooo disappointed!
I don't think, Jann's song would have reached the Top 10 either, his vocals also weren't that great, stop overeating this song and pretend, it had Top 10 potential, or even winner vibes. That being said, Blanka won't be qualifying either and yes, her vocals were bad.
Maybe you’re right, but the chance of being in the Final with Jann was much higher. Thank you for your reply🙂
If she sings like that during Eurovision Poland won't qualify. I'm surprised she's won.
She cooperates with TVP
@@eurovisonuniverse-robert Yeah, I know. I'm from Poland so i'm aware of realities. I was hoping though that at least Dudek wins. I think he was much better live. Blanka really isn't a great vocalist.
a shame with this jury...but no suprise...JANN is the real winner...Blanka not really bad but boring ....hole world is dissapointed...your so right with JANN final no question and top10 or top 5 ..with Blanka perhaps no final^^
This is my first year really following the national finals and to be honest I don’t think I’ll do it again. The disappointment when your favourite song and objectively just the best song doesn’t win is pretty devastating tbh 😢. At least I found the song though I guess…
It's part of the show. If you're not dissapointed at some point you can't get excited when your favorite actually win.
@@escmetha1176 Yeah but I usually leave the excitement/disappointment for when we have all the songs and watching these national final results is like having post Eurovision depression pre Eurovision 😭
@@stevieboy666 The thing is to not get too hyped about an entry before it gets selected. Wait for Germany being Germany and then it can only get better. Serbia, Portugal and probably Sweden wont dissapoint.
Yea true it is sad but for me there's more positive then negative parts. I find anazing artists from all around Europe to stan and enjoy so while I get it can be tiring after seeing your favs lose its mostly fun.
It gives me vibes of Like It, Belarus 2019
this is actually likeable
myeah song that nobody cares about but somehow qualifies and becomes final filler :))
Again as I said on Wiwibloogs this is slander to Zena.
Like is miles better than this.
I'm so sorry Zena!!
This song is just trite. I can't figure out how any jury could think this was a good option
Because this was not a real professional jury, but corrupted puppets from TVP.
This song kind of sounds like Solo by Clean Bandit and Demi Lovato 😭
My personal favorite was Dominik, I guess I've been having a craving for uncomplicated good vibes this year. He delivered during his performance and I do believe he would have been a great representative come May. It's lovely to hear you appreciate him and his entry, since I've felt like he had been overlooked by most what's with all the Gladiator fans storming the Internet.
I'll be keeping a closer look at both Dominik and Jann in the future, though. Those guys are welcome on my playlists anytime
yes, as a Pole (who loves Jann) i liked Dominik as well and would totally prefer him over Blanka, i also liked Felivers and Kuba
feels a bit dated. I think she's gonna struggle qualifying.
It's like with Tanxugeiras last year, I would have loved to see Jann at Eurovision. now I'm crossing my fingers for Luke Black
True, except that Solo is not even eons close to SloMo and Blanka couldn't even perform it well 🥲
Tanxu would have flopped just like France did. The juries saved Spain from sending another 25th place entry
How is it the same chanel was singing on point, had a great staging, could dance very good, ended up third there is no way poland will even get a top 10 this performance sounds bad
Exactly my first reaction when I saw her. :D
I am not hating, but realistically this is just basic. It is the only thing I desperately want to avoid this year. What a sad semi this is turning out to be.
Yes, Gladiator was not the best performance, but the song itself ticket the boxes that Blanca just wasn't even near to, so they were even jury-wise at best. One thing I'll give her is that in the recap Jann's chaos really stressed the polish in Solo, so I can see the juries getting confused by that.
I’m always here for a good time but this felt very… influencer tries to be a singer.
Or a rich kid with a daddy with connections in a big record label.
This is TVP not Poland representative
I have so much admiration for your positivity. I can feel you searching for nice things to say and ways to rephrase your negative points 😂
Serbia with Luke Black will represents both of them. Jann and Luke together would be great on the stage
Jann should have won. His song was the best. Solo is trash imo.
This is worse than The Ride which is saying a lot.
Alesia I think you are giving it too much credit by saying it’s a bop. Like it’s a bad pop song. And it’s dated, very 2015. I would only give her a pass if she could actually sing and perform it, which she can’t
I'm laughing with all the sounds and zooming... I'm loving the whole reaction and your politeness regarding Blanka's performance. Also singing Slomo instead of Solo LOL
this one is a tricky one, cause despite jann being clearly the best option on paper I wasn't blown away by the performance in a way that you have to clearly send that. It would be more competitive but if you cant evoke that feeling among these songs... Iceland will probably send another girl bop so it will have to compete with that too. But I see spain giving some point to this song (lowkey)
Jann just didn’t deliver. It’s 😞 but it happened. I can see this doing okay. It might even surprise because so far there aren’t a lot of songs like it.
Lines were already closed when jury voted. I wanted to be able to vote for Dominik so badly at that moment!
We are robbed another year by TVP, let's be honest, we all wanted gladiator to go to the ESC but by Jann's look etc, they didn't want him to win.
Margaret in 2016 wasn't chosen by 100% televoting, there was no corruption or something. This one was chosen by 50/50 system where juries made sure that the televoting favourite wouldn't win anyway.
"Solo" is so offensively mediocre and boring, and the lackluster vocal performance certainly did not help. Poland went straight to my last place in the scoreboard app :/
@Alesia Michelle are you reacting to Loreen??
This stinks. No way the jury put this first because of the musical artistry. I actually think it’s a bad entry. Boring, forced, generic, bad vocals.
I know right, and they even talked about how a Eurovision entry should stand out, be original, have some personality and then they gave Blanka 12 points, what the hell
Solo is just fine for me. It's nothing too wild, it's a safe summer radio bop that could get into a playlist but wouldn't be your go-to. Your head may bop along or toe may tap a bit but it doesn't excite enough to consider voting for it by any means.
I've already prepared the jury result. Redditors already predicted the Polish jury will support this.
And one more. Please compare her clip from Warner YT with this television live show. Voice mastering level high
I appreciate how you still try to discuss the logistics of a song qualifying no matter how dull it is. With 100% televote, I’m hoping that there will be no more cases of songs inexplicably advancing only to DOA in the final. This should not qualify or be rewarded under any circumstance.
Got me thinking of Silvia Night from iceland 2006.. don't know why 🤔
Dominik Dudek would’ve been a worthy jury winner but oh well. I’m not going to get into all the accusations of nepotism and jury bias.
There are no juries this year?
Juries will only vote in the grand final (50/50).The voting in the semis is done by televote only this year (I think it has to do with last year's scandal about jury fraud in the semis).
You’re 100% right girl, THIS SUCKS!Unfortunately,Jury voted in favor of Blanka.this will happen every single year because of the National Broadcaster, anything even on the edge of “different”does not stand a chance with them, this is our polish reality.
Janns’ performance was called “diabolic and we need something more light in tune” that’s what the Jury said post factum.
Yes! With Jann we could “how high can we be this year” with Blanka,I think it will flop.
😢
I fell in love with you greetings from Poland
I went into the NF with Gladiator being my number 1 (by a huge margin) and it stayed my number one, despite the messiness of the live (which i still enjoyed).
Dominik’s song made me feel something positive and nostalgic, and he surpassed Alicja to become my second place.
In comparison to those two, Solo for me is just… bland. Catchy, but bland.
And I agree, with a number of tweaks and changes, Gladiator could have been a force to reckon with at Eurovision-especially since it’s such a strong song imo. This stinks.
it’s such a bummer, I trusted Poland and Serbia to provide strong competition to the Nordics and Spain and turn this into a truly good year, but I think we rather stay on the mid side… probably half of the top 10 will be pretty much open to get into
Dont say for Serbia nothing, I am affraid. 😬😬😬 But somehow I think that our (Serbian) jury loves nation and good placement at Eurovision more then his opinion. Also, we have a lot of rehearsals before the actual competition so chance for failure is much reduced.
Eh. I'm still waiting for that one banger that I will listen to for years
13:10 It’s funny how you’re already expecting something folky from the Netherlands like as a Dutchie myself I’m already so tired of that sound and I hope they send something more energetic this year
Honestly- it’s done well so I don’t mind it tbh
happy 1998 to everyone 🤣😂
Tbh Gladiator was never jury bait, so I'm not surprised he didn't get so many points from them.
But Poland wants to win?!? He was clearly the best chance at that…
@@AlesiaMichelle TVP is backward and conservative and they didnt wanted the country to be represented by gay-ish performer so they sabotage it with non professional puppet jury.
Yeah, with this vocal, this is definitely gonna be a non-qualifier. And generic pop songs mostly struggle with the televoting and really need the juries to save them, so I'm not even convinced, this would have made it through the semis, if her vocals were perfect. But let's keep it real, stop pretending as if other songs in this selection had the chance to finish in the Top 10 or even win, especially when the vocals weren't that great either.
It is so sad, that people ,,must,, talking about this song (i mean Blanka) like it was choice of Polish people🥺😭😭😭 Polish people choice Jann!!!! Please talk about this, it is mistake that Jann not going to the Eurovison😭😭😭
I think I was very clear that the jury was responsible for this
I appreciate Alesia pointing out Dominik, he was terribly slept on by the fandom and his song was pretty good.
jann is the true winner
So I don't actually really care about the whole thing about how the thing was rigged or whatever (it's understandable to be but would be disingenuous for me to say anything about), I'm more focused on the songs.
With this song... it's fine. Like it's not bad but it's not good either, which is probably the worst situation it could be in. It's not very memorable at all, it's just a radio filler song. The thing though is that it's the only song like this in semi final 2 so far so it could actually qualify, though it's borderline. It is very catchy though, I will give it that.
I think semi final 2 is almost completely open though, I don't think any song is a definite non-qualifier.
ow wow, she does need to work on the vocal. The song does remind me of "cool me down" and "chameleon" for some reason too.
I saw the MV and she does look gorgeous! Nothing wrong with that, but yeah the voice T_T
i think this doesn’t deserve to qualify but i predict it to pull a belarus 2019 because poland has very good history with televote
No no it’s not giving warm weather but it’s giving a headache 🫣🫣
It could have been a fun and sweet song if she could sing.
This is the most “Eurovision 2023 national finals season” thing thats ever happened.
We need to cancel jury votes!!!!!
This song is way less interesting than "Cool me down". Performance looks fun, but it's overall so mediocre. I find Poland's selection really weird: this song has been out for months and I see lots of performances of it on UA-cam. Somehow it feels strange that you can just pick some songs that are already popular in your country to compete in the national selection for Eurovision.
The styling was a little too juvenile for me. And the wording "Solo" on that middle piece that she was wearing (I think?) was too literal. I consider this as a song in my "play in the background while bopping around and cleaning the house" type of music. This will most likely end up around the middle of my rankings.
The Polish jury should be ashamed of themselves. What is the reason to have a national final? Then just choose internally. If this is because you don't want to look like a fool as a country...well this is kinda embarrassing😬
DMGP jury rigged it for Reiley too, so I'm not surprised she won jury. I would rather vote for Poland than for Denmark, don't like that song.
The song was nice until Blanka started singing 😵💫
The national broadcaster and people who are choosing songs they are problem. 0 songs in Polish, almost zero innovation ( except Jan and maybe Dominik) , safe and bland at the same time. Be yourself Poland, please, stop trying to fit in because you are not doing even this great- looking at Azerbaijan.
JUSTICE FOR BOOTY!
I am so disappointed.. first time that I’m watching a bit of the national selections from each country, but I don’t think I will ever do it again, if I’m just going to get disappointed. I have a feeling that Sweden and Germany are gonna disappoint me too.
Well one thing is for sure. Poland definitely dodged a bullet by being in semi final 2. The song is just too generic for me, and the vocals are bad. I saw someone else comment this already, but it’s giving me belarus - like it vibes.
I don't even want us to qualify if we're sending this, so embarassing. It's not people's choice.
Hi , I'm agree with you 100%...
Poor Poland. Look, this year is being a bit lackluster so far. We have Finland, Spain, Sweden if Loreen wins, which she will, Norway and little else. I'm shocked.
The studio version is fine at least.
Between TOP3 in polish preselection, i think Dominik Dudek was the best, his vocals was on point and that type of song could really qualify into the final. I agree with Alessia that Jann was overhyped, the song was interesting, but the staging and vocals wasn't the best. Blanka's staging looks good but the vocals was the weakest one from the Top3, it is a bop but im not sure about the chances for qualifying.
Blanka will qualify to the final because it's only televote in the semis but this is a step back for Poland in Eurovision:(. Andromache and Ronela would had qualify last year if it had been only televote.
I get that slomo and solo are similar words but i don't wanna hear anymore comparison like this song is not good and i am not gonna start on the performance i get really angry that singers can't sing their own song live and this sounds like it will not good 🤐🙄 there are so many talented singers and then there is this she better step this up
Its "Solo - Demi Lovato, clean bandit"
Jann should have won
This sucks so bad. I had chills during gladiator. Jann is such an Artist. I had winner vibes. Whats intresting with Blanka in green room was sitting Edyta Górniak's son. And Edyta was leader of jury panel sooo...
I dont hate it.. i think people are over-reacting a touch. I get there is a bit of controversy over the voting.. but.
This is just… Idk…
working on vocal wont help. she does not hear herself
Yes, you're totally right about having now conversation about qualifying but not being in top 10. :( Personally Jann's performance blew me off. I didn't give a fuck if there was something off. Blanka's song is so weak... nobody vote for the 5th and 6th choice...
It's very much on brand for Poland to brush off queer coded and queer themed songs and choose something that plays into the very heteronormative male gaze of the country that they want to promote. I'm disappointed but not surprised.
The people actually voted for Jann, it's the broadcaster that rigged the selections in favor of Blanka, who has performed for them a couple of times already during New Year's Eve concert or in You Can Dance program.
We all know witch reaction we are waiting for...
Even the large Polish diaspora will have second thoughts voting for this whereas Jann would have been on speed dial.
Polacy głosowali na Jann
I like this….we need a catchy tune this year and i find so far there is a lack of catchy popsongs in the competition
True, but with these vocals, it's probably not gonna happen. Better than Rafał in 2021 though and his attempt at singing. And her song is not as bland and forgettable as his.
Perfect summary of the situation. The Polish jury needs to be thrown out and the televoters need to get more of a say
Wow, this song is soooo sooooo booooring... I would go to the bathroom or to get some snacks while this song is playing in eurovision xD
I 100% appreciate how Polish fans may feel about the situation. That in mind, I personally am just very surprised at how many people think completely Jann nailed his performance. I loved the studio cut and there were definitely some great vocal moments but any critique on his vocals (which I think is fair to critique the performance on) is often met with "Blanka's vocals were worse" or "he was perfect." And this is in no way even commenting on whether there may or may not have been some foul play at hand.
This is coming from someone who would have likely WOULD HAVE VOTED FOR JANN (or Dominik) based on the performances today, but I've found any comment that Jann didn't nail the performance vocally for me gets met with a strong response.
Jann's performance sounded better live, you can find some recordings from the audience. I don't know what they did with the TV recording but the acoustics of all performances were horrible in general. I'm not saying he was perfect, of course not, he was moving a lot, he should have gotten some more backing vocals to support him but it was still the obvious choice to send to Eurovision and then work on it until May.
My other big problem with this is that Poland is a country that should be aiming to win, not just a country that should be aiming for a safe late teens to early twenties position. I don't care if Mrs Giselle Knowles-Carter herself trained up Branka, her song is not sniffing the top 10. How are you passing up on a song you know at least is very popular with the televote? I could easily have seen good staging elevating that song very high. At a minimum it was NEVER going to struggle to qualify. Especially when the fans have an outsized impact on the semi voting, and that was a community favorite.
Let's start with the fact that national selections shouldn't be allowed to do a 50/50 split or in favor of jury. It's completely unfair and it's easy to rig it that way. I think EBU should regulate how national selections are done, like choosing the ratio method of counting votes rather than limiting all the points to the scale from 1 to 12 or choosing an international jury instead of national one. And if the judges have any sort of connection with any of the contestants they should not be allowed to sit in the jury.
