Great video dude! A true masterpiece and one of my favorite films of all time! To me, the tragic and shocking truth this film conveys in regards to sexual abuse, is that your family members and friends will do anything to maintain the angelic image of the abuser they might have. I’ve seen this happen in real life so many times where the victim is completely shunned and kicked to the curb because people would rather not have the image of their idolized figure to be tainted by something as disgusting as sexual abuse. It’s tragic that the family and friends are only convinced by the suicide note and not their siblings living words. It’s a film that’s able to represent these tragic truths about humanity but at the same time have an encouraging and hopeful attitude for the silenced victims of abuse.

It totally captures that feeling of resentment. I agree, it tackles those feelings very well. Each Vinterberg film I’ve seen is a near 10/10. He really knows how to tell an emotionally charged story.

Just watched it last night and was completely blown away at the sheer magnitude of so many themes concepts and characters that interplay all at one birthday party. I maybe late to all this but I would love to see more dogme 95 videos especially one on Julian donkey boy

This movie is a freaking masterpiece. I also found it quite hilarious, even though it’s so serious😅

I had heard so much about this I finally checked it out on the criterion channel. Glad I did, although I expected Christian to go nuts and lock all the guests in the house and set it on fire. I’m still questioning why they took the keys away

@@BillGriff1 Vinterbergs debut was 'The boy who walked backwards' (Drengen der gik baglæns) from 1994. A fantastic movie about a young boy who looses his big brother in a car accident and tries to turn back time by walking backwards.
