Bingo! I honestly can't imagine. Biking 40+ kilometers every day, then getting to your hotel, and editing a video for 3-4 hours at night. I'm sure he's realizing now that he can't stay awake past 10 PM after all that biking and is just running late.
Yeah, I really appreciate his editing skills so I'm glad he's taking this route
I love the videos where you go in depth about a specific Japanese city
"Says the 9% alchool drink is pretty hard"
Meanwhile in Russia: We call that water
Got drunk on that shit with russians, its pretty bad lmao
I was eating with classmates in Osaka, emptied 2x250 ml 25% Sake and 3 x half a Liter of something i am not realy sure what was because they kept ordering drinks, I was still fine after xD
lollll as a fellow russian i can agree 😭
@@Jakuri93 dont kill me if im wrong but isnt sake alcohol percentage max 20%? Wouldnt 25% be the rice polishing ratio?
@@killerpalkia Sake translate to alcohol so every drink containing alcohol is sake, Japanese sake (Rice vine) is basically sake made in traditional japan way and has as you said 15-20%. but they definitely make alcohol in japan with higher percentage.
Does anyone else smile and like the video before watching it because you know it's gonna be a damn good video like always?
-Thank you for not being on rewind this year.
After seeing Sharmander's raw footage from this day and then seeing yours you definitely get an idea of how much different life looks with stylish edits, music, and high production value. Great work!
That group of students you talked to seemed really awesome!
> Day 17
> Series has been going on for over 2 months
Chris this is my second UA-cam comment in over a decade. I stumbled upon your channel last month and I seriously just cant get enough!
You are such an inspiration to me you can't even imagine. Thanks for all the videos (and podcasts).
Take care
You can stop counting now, we are glad you found your voice. Intelligent people need to contribute. Do it.
The artsy bit at the end was quite amusing. It brilliantly captured the bizzaro world of Japanese night life built up by its claw machine economy.
Geordie teaching locals why aye man! Brilliant. Sounds like a new series for auf wiedersehen pet!
Wow last time I was this early britain was still part of the EU
Sammee
Britain is still part of the eu
@@kidicarus5627 not foruch longer. We got the news today (I don't know if you're in the UK or not) that we need to pay €7 instead of getting a visa to travel Europe
Oh god here we go, even AbroadInJapan is going to be infested with political comments for the next few weeks, I hope you're happy EU and Theresa May.
@@smolsews3760 im still in germany unfortunately
As an Osaka resident it was such a blast seeing how we used to roll pre-COVID. Can't wait for that to come back.
Didn't even watch the video yet and i know it's gonna be a banger just as always! Keep up the good work
Absolutely love your videos !! You inspired me to start my own UA-cam travel channel here in japan !!! Wish me luck 🇯🇵❤️⭐️
I'm currently rewatching the series, and I have to say that Pete is my favorite guest!
Missed opportunity, could have had Pete do a take on the tears in the rain scene.
I agree. Pete sorta looks like Rutger Hauer...if you tilt your head to the side and squint a little bit.😋 Great video! I'll miss the "Journey Across Japan" series when it's officially over. Is it officially over?😘
Looool "straight off to Narnia" love it 😂😂😂
Just came back from Japan and I want to thank Chris for teaching me the word OSUSUME . It has been the single most useful Japanese word I've known so far . That and sumimasen
Perfect timing, I'm just at the airport waiting to go back home from Tokyo! Had a great time.
Osaka was the first city in Japan I visited and I will never forget it. I was often asked to visit someone's restaurant and had a chance to chat it up with the locals. The people are way nicer there than they are in Tokyo, that's for damn sure!
Wish this video came out in 2012 so I could have done this stuff!
Yes! Teaching Geordie to Japanese people! Can't wait to carry on what you started when I move to Kyoto next year!
I love Osaka so much! I can feel the essence of my soul being pulled toward Osaka as I watch this video. I cannot wait to go back! :)
As a northerner I really loved Pete's 'Why Aye Man!' lesson, brilliant xD Love the videos Chris, keep up the good work!
I don't like to call Chris 'privilaged' as that denotes he's been lavished with luck. Rather, I see Chris as an explorer who has had a whole new world open up randomly for a fellow not too arrogant to appreciate it but rather quite open hearted to allow it to unfold.
Well done Mr. CHRIS! KEEP ON KEEP'N ON!
You are worthy of this. Thank you for being so awesome in your Japan series.
I truely hope to meet you sometime. Cheers from British Columbia, Canada.
I'm currently rewatching the Journey Across Japan series and just got to this, man what a legendary video! Has to be the best of the series which is really saying something, although I'm sure me being a huge Yakuza fan is a big part of why I love this video so much 😄 It's always made me want to desperately visit Osaka!
Me in my room in my underwear with a beer and a sandwich: "I agree, Mr. Donaldson. I am also ready to get funky."
This made me smile and I'm not sure how I feel about that... Thanks I guess, you semi-nude sandwich eating stranger you.
Nico sound like you're always funky.
What kind of sandwich?
Room? sad 🙀
That group of students was so wholesome I love this channel
I see you're liking everyone's post Chris, please shower me with attention too.
What’s my reward?
@@AbroadinJapan A lifetime of crippling depression. It's going to be ok though, because you still have fami chicken. Jokes aside, thanks for the love!
“That’s disgusting. Can I try a bit?” Life motto really
Watched a lot of your videos because my wife borne in 80 and me 90. She went to japan when she was 16, to learn you are the same age as me. I like!
Obviously you gotta go to Cabaret Grand and meet Majima-san.
Chris! You can't put music this good in a video and not tell us who it's by! That synth stuff was awesome!
Track is by Mattie Maguire - Look where that got you. ua-cam.com/video/BexELRm6j5g/v-deo.html You're welcome :)
Thanks! Chris and Pete for the great Laughs and amazing videos.
Been rewatching JAJ this week, as I’ve been home with the sickness, and I can’t wait to see you and Pete in a video together again. Hope you record your meet-up in the UK! 😃🙌
I know this is two years later, but this video inspires me more than ever to travel to Japan 🖤
Do it! I absolutely had an amazing experience there. Best time of my life. Once this pandemic is over go!
A cool part of Travelling is standing in the same spots you've seen on movies or movies. When I went to Osaka I ended up finding a small park and stat down.. Looked around and remembered that Abroad in Japan was sitting in the same spot, lol. Really cool to see it all in person
Beer and tomato juice is called a chelada in Mexico. Add lemon and some salt to that mix and you got yourself a delicious drink!
@Snicker Bottom Super old comment I know but I just stumbled upon this channel lol
Anyway, a chelada is simply beer and tomato juice. And the michelada adds a special sauce/mix to that plus the chamoy on the rim!
and lets not forget about clamato juice and beer.
The best city in Japan for me ! And it's where I'm living !Really Good video !
this is probably the best vide that I've ever seen from abroad in japan. Absolutely loved it!❤❤
"I'm letting the ball linger in the breeze" is probably something you wouldn't want to say on a first date.
only if you're a coward
Those beautiful hot balls in the wind 🌬☄
69th like for dem balls in the breeze 🤣🤣🤣
Strong Zero was my water during my trip in Japan.
Never drank a water that hurts my head so much.
NISHINARI STYLE
Osaka seems like a heaven for City Pop fans.
Been waiting for this video! Nice one mate, you're starting to look trim as well, cycling is having its way with you! Top effort
i can tell you guys as a foreigner to japan my new zealand binge drinking culture didnt prepare me at all for those deadly 9% strong zeros
Really? Tui bourbon and cokes? I thought that we kiwis would put a few prepay izakayas out of business if we arrived enmass.
Ain’t got nothing on a Waikato
Because everything in NZ is like 4~6%. Sure we binge drink but that's because everything is weak as piss.
Chris singing Karma Chameleon and Under the sea has made my day....
its amazing to see how they know english enough to atleast understand what your saying, says something for the education vs US
Shadoe its not saying something for the education in us and in japan, japanese is almost solely spoken in Japan and english is one of the most widely known languages, obviously they’d learn some english. If Japanese was a more widely spoken language, kids in the US would be taught how to speak some. It’s not like schools in the US offer spanish or french classes...
Haway, Chris man, how could you not have heard “Why aye, man?” How? You’ve never been further north than Birmingham, have you, bonny lad? Great video.
I studied abroad in Osaka, Japan back in 2019 and my preparation beforehand consisted of mastering how to eat with chopsticks, watching some anime and this video of you Chris. Basically, in 2019 I met a local girl in Osaka, and of course, I asked her if she knew Chris Broad and unsurprisingly she said yes and she got me to the Takoyaki shop in this video. Rewatching it in 2023 got some good memories back.
Thank you Chris for your good videos, just got your book today and will have a good time reading it.
"I was born in 1990"
Wait, what?! You are younger than I thought... I had to pause and take a couple of seconds to collect myself after learning you are younger than me lol
Same here!
All those 9% chuhai cans take their toll! 😛
Same, I thought he was in his 30s. I'm only five years older than him 😂
Only been a week since the last video but yet it feels far longer.
Tales of Symphonia music playing in the background at 8:55 while they're at the game bar, that made me so happy
In one night Chris and Pete were able to eat okonomiyaki, drink outside with locals, play retro video games, eat okonomiyaki, and do 1.5h of karaoke. Japan's nightlife potential is just too busted 😩
Mental video guys! Loved the blade runner sequence. Also in college in America I used to drink ‘red beers’. It’s an amazing way to cover up terrible beer when you’re poor as hell. Some older folks drink it with clam juice and call it a Clamato. Just awful lol
