- A 16-year-old singer-songwriter confronted Rishi Sunak at a pub in Devon, where the prime minister was on the campaign trail.

Henry Hassell asked Sunak, ‘Why do you hate young people so much?’ after the prime minister announced a plan to enforce mandatory national service if the Conservatives are elected in July. Sunak responded with ‘You’ll have a choice’ and ‘You’ll love it!’ when Hassell said he has already spent his life volunteering. The plans will force every 18-year-old in the country to spend time in a competitive, full-time military commission, or one weekend a month volunteering in ‘civil resilience’.

This election has really brought out the nasty side of the Tories we always hear about and they not afraid to show it.
Let's see, Gen z are a generation without the ability of free movement/trade/education across EU thus making opportunities fewer all thanks to the common demographic of tory voters. Gen Z now have an existential housing crisis to contend with which means just finding a place to rent let alone buy comes down to survival of the fittest, something which tory voters in their 1p mortgages and multiple homes and land ownership are least concerned by. Gen Z have to contend with dirty waterways and pollution which ultimately effects their health and living standards, whilst also paying the extra cost in bills and taxes to clean the mess up and then expected to be the leaders who come up with the solution for our future because of the damage caused by a failing gov. So yeah Gen Z do have a lot to moan about because in fact they are probably the strongest and most versatile gen group given how much they have had to adapt themselves to survive the new norm thanks to a bunch of dinosaurs who couldn't be any more detached from reality.

Conscription is a terrible idea. In modern democracies, it only works if it's already an established and time-honored part of the social contract, or if your country's under continued threat of invasion. Neither of these categories apply to the UK. Conscription would only serve to swamp an otherwise highly professional military with a flood of new recruits who don't want to be there.
