I was a professional roofer and roofing contractor in Florida for close to 30 years. Nice job installing roof vent. I used to tool urethane caulking in with a large piece of ice, no mess, works really good.
It is beginning to look like it might become a “home”.?.......you seem so much more contented and happy...I thank God that He brought Kelly into your life!...God continue to bless this couple as they travel together!...I am 73 and unable to walk well so your videos give me a window on the country I love ❤️....Love to you both!
Dont forget, if you guys come through southern Illinos you have a free place to stay. You can plug in to my shop to work on the van if you need to also.
On my 2010 Transit Connect the most nerve racking thing was cutting a huge hole in the roof to install the fan. This is my first build (still in progress) so I measured 25 times and cut once lol
Your community would never make fun of your work. You're doing a great job! Can't wait to see it all finished. This could be a new career path for you. :)
Good of that fella to let you build and store for a bit. Build is coming right along. Looks great! Really like the door, and stove. That's going to be really nice. Taking your time and doing it right! 😊👍
Hi Brian, I know your not asking, but when insulating, try and get some "Rock Wool" it's very dense and has the highest sound proofing quality as well as R value. Not sure if they make it anymore. Looking good 👍
fyi: some surfaces and area's should really get automotive clear (they have ceramic high heat versions too!!) durability and mold resistance and etc...the water based stuff cant handle staying wet from a prolonged unnoticed leak
@@stevejeffrey11 bare wood is not good (as a general rule) water is getting down there somehow..you gotta find how. for regular poly most common places are near a sink, drain , windows and doors, slow leaks down the walls.. anywhere not easily accessed should get sealed up better, but also ensure water can get out....water will always get in...it MUST be able to get out or dry up, or it sits and molds....it an old mistake to just seal everything up but forget to allow/plan for drainage/airing out. ceramic clears can help the hard to access areas drain and will reduce mold by buying you time by never absorbing if coated enough.
Looking real good Brian. Having too much stuff it’s such a struggle, we all go through it but to be building storing & living in a space. You’re doing great. Thanks to Bill for helping you out.
For the cabin door, maybe make it a slider rather than hinged? Maybe make it on the driver cabin side? That way you have more un-interrupted wall space inside the box?
You are going to love the headroom. I went from a regular conversion van to a high top sprinter. So much better on rainy days to be able to stand up and stretch. You are doing a great job with yours. Safe travels to both of you and God bless!
Run a nut up on the bolt, screw it into the rivnut/nutsert and hold the bolt head stationary with a wrench while wrench tighten nut against rivnut and you will feel it expand the swedge pernitting the use as originally installed.
WOW !!!! FINALLY GOING TO HAVE A REAL STOVE , ITS STILL NOT A 4X4 TRUCK CAMPER BUT ITS SHAPING UP VERY NICELY , GOOD WORK . AS ALWAYS STAY STAFE AND HEALTHY
Brian, you and Kelly are doing a great job! Hope you can arrange a new stopover for the rest of the project. You did an amazing job thinking this through and your design ideas will provide you with many years of comfortable adventure and travel. Be well, Peace
Just a suggestion... consider buying a bunch of cheap storage bins and put everything in them. Group similar things together of course. They are so cheap but make life so much easier. I'm not saying keep them all forever either. But you can stack them on your bed and on the floor while moving but then easily take everything out just by moving a few bins. You can find stuff easy and protect stuff from debris and weather. Once you have all your storage spaces you can get rid of some and just keep a few until you're sure you don't need them anymore. Moving like 16 bins while you're building is not that bad since it won't be for long or that often. And, if you end up with four bins that you move every time you setup someplace that's not bad I think.
Hi Brian and Kelly! Fantastic job you are doing! That vent fitting has to be the tidiest that I've seen, so please be proud of that! Looking forward, as always to your next video. Safe travels when you get on the move. 🙋♀️🚐🏞🌏
Always enjoy seeing resourcefulness & elbow grease Vs. trusting an RV Manufacture to do it right. And the cost savings is in the tens of thousands of dollars !
Darn- I wished you had read my last message / before the insulation you should put some Sound Deadening / B - Quiet Ultimate Sound Deadening / Vanlife Sagas did a little Sound test & it made a huge difference.../ Happy for your new Home
I like the look of the windows and the cut out door to the front, I think your going to love the finishing touches. I hope your going to keep your stove you had in your van? ✌🏻🇺🇸🤔🍲
Looking good!! I know how that feels to be in the middle of projects and stuff is all over. Hope you guys are having fun adventures and laughs! Happy Travels and God Bless You Always! 😁🙏🏼💜💖🚙💨
Looking good! Smart idea to move on and not overstay your welcome. 👍 Perfecting a build can take a while. Plus, living in it while building it helps you figure out where things need to be. ✌️
Wow Brian. Impressive. I learn so much from your channel. I love the simplicity in how you explain things. What kind of wood did you cover the insulation?
Oh man, all those straight walls to work with (after building out a van). What a delight that must be. The possibilities are endless. Have you considered a bed that goes up into the roof when not in use ?
Bill, I want to thank you for hosting our friend. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Right on. Cheers to Bill.
Thank you Bill for hosting so we could watch! Coming along nicely, good job Brian, know it's nerve racking!

Good man Bill. The world needs more people like you.

very good of you
Yes just what the rubber tramp needs and he could check out Shawnee National Forest 🌳
Brian, Thank you so much for bringing us
Along for your make over on your new box van!
You are such an amazing Carpenter !!!
Looking real good Brian , you have come a long ways with your build . Always a pleasure to see Kelly too ! Wishing you both the very best .
Man, you're a bad ass. That's alot of work for 13minutes
😆
On my 2010 Transit Connect the most nerve racking thing was cutting a huge hole in the roof to install the fan. This is my first build (still in progress) so I measured 25 times and cut once lol
The time you spend making videos is very appreciated. Cheers. Peace.
Your community would never make fun of your work. You're doing a great job! Can't wait to see it all finished. This could be a new career path for you. :)
I just priced some 4x8 sheets of plywood, about had a heart attack!!
@Fart Zilla I hauled 235,000 pounds of logs to the mill today, you would think I could get wholesale price!!
Just finished watching all 3 episodes of your build, now I can't wait til the next one, and the one after that etc. etc.... Great job!!!
Good of that fella to let you build and store for a bit. Build is coming right along. Looks great! Really like the door, and stove. That's going to be really nice. Taking your time and doing it right! 😊👍
Its coming along. Sorry to hear about the window, consider replacing it with a tilt out window, that way it can be open while its raining outside.
Who is that pretty lady peeking in the windows? What a doll!! I am so happy you have such a special person. Great job with all your van work.
You need to get a Max Air vent cover so you can leave you vent open when traveling or in the rain. We have them on the camper and they woork great.
Hi Brian, I know your not asking, but when insulating, try and get some "Rock Wool" it's very dense and has the highest sound proofing quality as well as R value. Not sure if they make it anymore. Looking good 👍
Looks like a lot of work but it will be great when you get done. Hang in there. You are doing a great job.
Did my whole van without any finish. Got mold instantly. Covered everything in water based polyurethane. That stuff is a godsend.
fyi:
some surfaces and area's should really get automotive clear (they have ceramic high heat versions too!!) durability and mold resistance and etc...the water based stuff cant handle staying wet from a prolonged unnoticed leak
Oh really so cover all wood with polyurethane? I'm doing a van build right now & there was mold in the old floor

Git-R-Done. Looking good so far. 👍🏻 I know your going to enjoy being able to stand up to get dressed. I like how you worked in your bike rack. 👍🏻
How about a window in the door for when its really windy and raining hard will give you more natural light
Looking real good Brian. Having too much stuff it’s such a struggle, we all go through it but to be building storing & living in a space. You’re doing great. Thanks to Bill for helping you out.

I put a slider in a cabinet in my van and love it!! The area was too tight for a swinging door...slider was perfect.
Just realized I’ve been through a few builds with Brian and a remodel LOL!
Me too
Hey good job. You have a lot of people talking nothing but positive vibes about you on their channel. Keep up the great work.
Sure looks crowded but not like the van. I think standing up inside the truck is going to be so much nicer and comfortable for you.
Coming along great Brian 👍👍. Y’all take care and God bless ✌️
Looks like things are moving along nicely 👍 Thank you for filming the build for us to learn from.
Looking good Brian, you have done a lot in a short period of time 😎🤙
Epic progress Brian! Looks very good! Looking forward to the next video. A man with a master plan very cool!!
Lookin' great !!! It's gonna be so much more usable space than your old van !
Looks wonderful so far. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see it finished. The best of luck and Safe travels 😄❤🙏
I would be scared to death of cutting holes but you do it with confidence. Things are looking so good!!
This box van is going to be awesome!!!!!
Good progress, Brian!! Stay the course! This will all be worth it to have a nicer, bigger, newer rig!
You are going to love the headroom. I went from a regular conversion van to a high top sprinter. So much better on rainy days to be able to stand up and stretch. You are doing a great job with yours. Safe travels to both of you and God bless!
Doing stretches, yoga in the van is fun! High top is the way to go
Flashing behind the stovetop. Stick on tiles for a backsplash. Maybe a hammock chair, looking good.
What a great platform for a DYI camper. Good job Brian!!!!
Wow! Looking good. It's going to be like moving into the Taj Mahal. Maybe that's a good name for it. You guys stay safe and healthy.
new ride must feel like a mansion, looks good all the best
Great job. You are moving really quickly in this install.
Excellent steady hand, you must be relieved, well done 🎉.
Looking good. 😊 That will certainly be a nice little home for you when you're done.
nice going brian, don't know if have seen foresty forest really adventurous young Canadian doing his build on the fly, very smart, and good humor too!
Brian & Forresty Forest are the best 'real' van lifers!
Nice update I enjoyed your vlog.
Big thank you to your host, many blessings.
Hi Kelly 💕
Take care
Peace
Looking good so far! I can't wait to see the finished design. Good job!

I've been following you for years. Keep enjoying your freedom in life!!! Timmy C the forever bachelor.
Run a nut up on the bolt, screw it into the rivnut/nutsert and hold the bolt head stationary with a wrench while wrench tighten nut against rivnut and you will feel it expand the swedge pernitting the use as originally installed.
And you can stand up!! Makes such a difference. Looking good.
WOW !!!! FINALLY GOING TO HAVE A REAL STOVE , ITS STILL NOT A 4X4 TRUCK CAMPER BUT ITS SHAPING UP VERY NICELY , GOOD WORK . AS ALWAYS STAY STAFE AND HEALTHY
You and Kelly are really working hard to get this done and its shaping up nicely. See you down the road for more building.
Brian, you and Kelly are doing a great job! Hope you can arrange a new stopover for the rest of the project. You did an amazing job thinking this through and your design ideas will provide you with many years of comfortable adventure and travel. Be well, Peace
It would be nice that in your plans, you would have a shower stall and toilet with
Your tankless water heater.😀
I like to shower and poop outside🌲🌳🌱
Sorry to hear you regret the side window. I can relate. I've done that trying to save money. One just does the best they can moving forward.
Sweet, everything seems to be coming along nicely!

Still welcome to come here and finish up your build. I'm 45 miles north of Tampa.
When you use rv windows like that, it is good to also install a 2 inch aluminum angle (slightly sloped to one side) right over them as a drip edge.
That looks great👍👍👍✌️✌️✌️!!!!
Shaping up, looking good Brian.
Hi Brian and Kelly! Fantastic job you are doing! That vent fitting has to be the tidiest that I've seen, so please be proud of that! Looking forward, as always to your next video. Safe travels when you get on the move. 🙋♀️🚐🏞🌏
Looking great Brian keep up the good work
Looking good Brian, PROGRESS!!! The adventure continues 👍
Always enjoy seeing resourcefulness & elbow grease Vs. trusting an RV Manufacture to do it right. And the cost savings is in the tens of thousands of dollars !

Those kitamat sound deadening panels? They work & are great , just a tad expensive
Steven / they are about the same / Kilmat is in Sheets / while B-Quiet is in Rolls & they are from Canada
Sound isn’t an issue with this van. 👍🏼
Thanks Again For Sharing Your Life
The adventure continues and what an adventure
your getting there, one step at a time... looking great... it will not be long, you will be finished... and then ENJOY...😊😊😊
I really like how you are setting everything up. It is very well thought out, and is going to be a joy for you. Best wishes as you go forward!
I've heard AMAZING things about Tern windows! They seem totally worth the extra they may cost. ❤

Wow, you are making a wonderful new home for yourself!
Looks great buddy! Keep it up, hope the best for you.
The build is looking good and you are making good progress! Might I recommend using hashtags to make this build searchable, i.e. #boxvanbuild
