I will have about 3 videos of the capital city. This video is just some highlights from my other videos. I will also have several driving videos. And some other videos of Guadeloupe soon. My internet has been very slow. Tomorrow I am going to the Dominican Republic.
If you really need a translator, use the Google translator app on a phone. It works good. At a hotel I am sure they would help you. Or, you can stay at Airbnb and find a host that speaks English.
Just before my French grandmother passed on, she told me that we had relatives in Guadeloupe. I don’t speak French and would never disturb them. I just thought it was cool since I was raised in the US, and had no knowledge of any island other than Jamaica.
I lived in Baie-Mahault, Guadeloupe for 9 months. When I came back to the US, the states seemed so shallow and bland. Not a day goes by where I don't wish I was back there. The people, the air, the food, the ocean, the language and culture - nothing beats it.
The purpose of the US is business, jobs, etc. Not romantic past time and socializing. Those other countries are nice, but they won't give you a job or feed you.
Do you have suggestion for a expats, foreigners or locales Facebook page, whats app group , Telegram group etc. That I could join to see what's going on around the island?
They represent 13% of the population and lot of them are mixed with whites and black (Check the French pageant beauty contest winner 2023, her name is Indira Ampiot.).☛💖☚!
I'm from Guadeloupe, and we mostly speak Guadeloupean Creole, my mum only speak creole. And guadeloupeans people speak french in school and sometimes at work, but "locals" speak guadeloupean creole, its close from haitian creole but they are very different. Its a fascinating new language that France dont want to recognize, a mix of africans, natives kalinago, french, english and latin languages. It was first spoken by the slaves back in the olds days and now is our language of everyday !! Great video btw !
The architecture is similar to Haiti, Cap-Haitien at least in this video. I am Haitian raise in Dominican Republic although I speak and understand Haitian creole but not theirs. hahah

The hotels did. My Aibnb places did also. But, the typical person doesn't seem to speak an English. I think this island would have more tourists than they can handle if they had more English speaking going on.
The whole of the Caribbean is like this some will talk some will hide but it’s all friendly. Just knowing where you can and can not go is vital. I speak English but grow up in both Guadeloupe 🇬🇵 and Dominica 🇩🇲 now settled in England 🏴
Yes. Very nice people. Today I decided to just walk around to enjoy (with no camera) and it was very nice to walk around and have a lunch and cappuccino. I seen some very nice streets to walk around and take some video of, but, I considered today my day off. and I didn't have my camera with me.
BrainFreeze - it's a simple island, not very touristy, but Oooh so beautiful. I spent a week there in November, though I stayed in a very different part of the island, I was very happy with the trip. Well worth it (I went for dance - as I love Kizomba, and this is the birthplace of Zouk). I'm now preparing for a trip to Medellin, Colombia now (I leave tomorrow)
People will say all kind of stuff to discourage you from doing these videos...but it is very nice to see other Carribbean countries than my own...keep up the good work...your interaction with those kids was very nice...Believe me...to those who live abroad these vids mean alot to them...be safe...bless up!

Here is a quote from the famous philosopher Nietzche: "And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music." I hear the music with you all. Cheers!
I spent a week there at a resort on the beach...very nice! Really enjoyed walking away from the resort in areas of few people on the beach, I think it's the place I ran into a komodo dragon on some rock out croppings...it growled at me and I went the other way :)
American...just had the good fortune through life to travel and see such beautiful areas of this planet. I actually had a former mother-in-law that lived in Guadeloupe and owed a pretty good size boat she would rent out to tourist called the "Southern Belle"...they also owned a restaurant there but I don't remember the name.

Today I didn't video walking the streets, but I found a street with lots of shops and cheap prices. I also was very impressed with the Carrefour store. It was a full sized Carrefour. I thought that was pretty impressive. I drove by several large shopping centers also. Gas was expensive though. I just paid 21 Euros for 15 liters.
The ocean is amazing, the food is disgusting. I was hoping since its a French Island it would be great, nope. I would definitely go back, but i would be doing my own cooking.
Cute vid and you seem nice. Found it funny how you wrote : "I pretend not to have no clue what they're talking about " when you clearly don't speak French. The kids and the first people said clearly, "C'est quoi la chaîne de UA-cam" and the kids repeated it like 10000 x . they are asking you what is your UA-cam channel . and you kept repeating "youtube" lol just saying
Those kids are so energetic. They wouldn’t give up. They would find out the name of your channel despite you lol. They found the English words to ask. The little one was so cute! I wanna go to gwada!
Impossible! "Sale blanc" does not make sense in french for it is the equivalent of the N word in english. Would it make sense for you to insult a white guy with the N word?Ridiculous!😂😂😂
OK dude, you travel to a different country where they speak a different langue, learn to at least say a few basic sentences in their language because, come on, you couldn't say even one word in French besides, "bon jour". Ok, that's two words, but still. Surely you can learn to say, "cette vidéo est pour ma chaîne UA-cam sur Internet."
if you write your youtube channel name and give it to those local people like those kids, they may be very interested to subscribe and watch that video. Another way to grow your subscribers...
