like the russian guy said below. Improving the AI tank ability would be a huge bonus. Right now they can't even stay in a basic formation. Just making them copy your speed controls rather you order "slow" or "fast" or simply stop would be big improvement.
I think the final text should actually read "Challenge: Completed. Mostly." =) Seriously though, well done. Given the difficulty in predictive turning without knowing the route to take, both the crash into the helo and the crash into the building are completely explainable (still not acceptable in a realistic environment for vehicles, but that's no fault of yours). If it somehow gained the ability to predict these objects without having to "dodge" them until the car started changing direction it would probably be perfect. The only true issues I noticed: 1) It tends to favour driving a little wide of obstacles, apparently taking a rule of thumb instead of checking dimensions, and prefers driving off road rather than on-road when circumnavigating them. The BIS AI does a much "smarter" job at getting around the UGVs and the longitudinal wrecks on the roadway, since it slaloms around them on-road like a real person would, even though it otherwise fails miserably at recognising static objects placed in the mission editor. 2) It also seems like the vehicle prefers to drive dead centre in the road instead of off to one side. How does your version handle two oncoming vehicles compared to vanilla? I've been waiting for ages to have vehicles not overreact to oncoming traffic in a BIS game. =) (I wonder if it's mere coincidence that BIS is now concentrating on road pathfinding on the current devbranch changelogs. Probably not!)
Hopefully this will prevent my teammates from driving over me every time I leave the vehicle. Thought the improved AI driving and flying would be on of the biggest features to come with A3 over A2. Thanx for this mod, it will fix a whole lot of missions!
I just tried vcom ai. In the updates they said they improved the driving ai. But when I tested it it was more horrible than the vanilla ai. The vehicles kept bashing into eachother. They tried to go around a obstacle that was actually not in the way and ended becoming a obstacle themselves creating a huge traffic jam. And the squad leader ordered the motorized squad to disembark while the truck was driving at full speed. The truck did not stop. forcing the infantry to leave the truck at full speed while they where being hit by other trucks. Then when they where all out he ordered the squad to get back into the truck while the truck was driving away and did not stop driving. So the entire squad had to run after the truck for 1 km before they could finaly get in. this happened to 3 different squads.
praetoriancorps oh boy. so you're telling me bohemia did not really improve their driving? That was without this Driving mod correct? This mod is most likely out of date

I was wondering if you know anything about how the VCOM AI script would work on a headless client and or how I would set it up to work on a headless client. Also, could I get a link to the latest version of VCOM AI? VCOM AI is still the best thing that has happened for my Arma community.

I'm seeing one little problem with debris, sandbags, H-barriers, and mines on either side of the road that causes them to drive way offroad. Could you make it so that they always choose the path closest to the road?
I noticed this! I will have to check out the vanilla AI's driving skills now. I hope its much better :D!! That way I can work on more important things.
it's an amazing addon but i think there's still a lot work to do....has anybody realice how tanks behave in this game? eventhough if the driving is some day nearly accurate they still turn over themselves all the time and act like rally cars instead heavy machines they are. congratulations anyway.
The most impressive part was the AI realizing that the road was blocked, and took a different path. Props to you sir.

praetoriancorps keep in mind that this driving mod is NOT a part of Vcom AI (it is confusing). So yeah. Stay away from this AI driving mod
