He was one of the last 3 ,all of who I was rooting for. He hasalot of moxy. A sense of humor and intelligence. The guy w the lute he made was also entertaining and a strong contender Best wishes and thank u taking me along Mr.Kay.
I tried the show by watching season 1. I did not like the show because some of the contestants/survivalists either had no business being there or were mostly uninteresting. But Alan was fascinating and gave good content on his cam footage. I find myself fast forwarding to only watch the Alan parts cause I was that bored.😂 Great survivalist and awesome person.
It's interesting seeing how everyone going in for season 5 bulked right up. They know from experience your time out there is measured in pounds so start heavy!!
Wish I could get this show in Germany. Can't watch all of it without a cable TV account, I tried and it blocks you without signing in. Is this available on DVD yet? If so where can I buy it?
Alan, I've given some ideas to Fowler and McIntire, so you should have them, too. For the All-stars season of Alone, take a 2-person hammock, made out of 9-strand 750 paracord, 1" mesh. use that 15,000 ft of inner strands to make 1500 sq ft of 3" mesh netting. If you need 1.5" mesh, then just fold it back on itself and tie every other mesh. You can use it to make boxtraps for mammals, birds, crabs, fish. Of course, you can just weave some of the netting as smaller mesh, but then you can't just snip some strings and return it to 3" mesh. Hold a Silky saw blade in the visegrip of the (modified) Crunch multi-tool. Take Condor's new E tool, but you'll probably have to offset the saw teeth by hand. if you have a narrow, shallow inlet. you can close it off with that 1500 ft of netting, and then use poles driven into the mud to help you walk the net to the shore. trapping every fish in the inlet. Keep the fish alive as long as possible, of course, so you dont have to preserve them. The best way to preserve food in the bush is as your own bodyfat. Then you can't lose it to bugs, rot, animals, fire, flood, etc. You can eat up to 10 lbs of food per day, if you really try. Make a big wooden mortar and pestle, and use it to juice the kelp. Use the fishheads and guts to bait in a bear to your tree platform-blind and arrow it from up there. You can also be weaving more netting as you sit in the blind, with your sleeping bag around your legs. Take one of Chief Aj's slingbows, and have 4 of the 6 arrows have 4-tined fishing heads. All should be wearing plastic, slip on vanes and 3 of them should be 3-piece taken down arrows from Dave Canterbury's store. 2 of your arrows should have big, squared off flu-flu type fletching, so the arrow wont go further than about 20m. Whittle a string release. The slingbow has a folding arrowrest, which lets you also shoot pebbles or baked clay balls, when the shot is not worth the risk of losing or damaging an arrow.
Don Russell Good idea to give all of the all All-Stars your suggestions. We would not want only one or two of the contestants having an unfair Advantage by getting your suggestions. The only problem is that if they all follow your suggestions, none of them will ever have to tap out because they will all be sitting around fat and happy for years.
he'd have starved out in another very few weeks. He's lost like 50 lbs in as many days. Alan's tough, but he didn't take the right gear to be able to feed himself properly. He should have had a 750 paracord gillnet and a paracord 2 person hammock. That would have let him weave 2500 sq ft of 3" mesh netting. half a day's work will result in 200 sq ft of such netting. So it can be hung every day and every day, you catch more and more fish. He also did'n't know to make a braced, outrigger pontoon raft. Cut a chunk of the tarp for use as a poncho, use the pants of the rainsuit, the backpack, the camera case, the life preserver as pontoons. stuff them with force-dried debris and seal the seams with duct tape. Then you'll be able to get out beyond the kelp beds with your (netting and sapling framed) crab traps, your gillnets and your netting fish weir.
Don Russell another Mr. Know-it-all. Can’t wait to tell someone what they should’ve done differently. You make your suggestions and no one gives you the attention on it you want, so then you come back a month later and talk about how you could’ve done it so much better and how. Nonsense.
He was SMART, hilarious, humorous, inspiring, vulnerable… he was amazing and I was rooting for him since the Thoreau episode
Glad he won, he was cracking me up in the first episode.
After the first episode I was rooting hard for Mr. Kay. Delighted he won, he deserved it.
Rooted for him the whole time the pure raw emotion was something that the newer generation can learn from
Just done watching Alone season 1..Congrats alan ❤️🎉🥳

Alan had a proper American education. I wonder where he went to school and what his parents did for a living.

I forgot to add that in a couple of hours, you can convert 3 of the fishing arrowheads into 24 fishhooks. :-)
