- Whitney Jensen, Gold Medalist in the Junior Category (now Pre-Professional Category), performs in the 2007 World Ballet Competition. Go to www.worldballet... for more information on the World Ballet Competition.
this is and has always been the better black swan variation. and she did it flawlessly.
It's wonderful to see a dancer have musicality along with amazing technique. So many dancers are all about pushing more and doing the most 'tricks' but don't LISTEN to the music.
the twist and turns are terrific!!
whitney
this video is amazing, hre ballet skills and posture in dance are excellent, a great proformance.
I think this is the best interpretation to this variation that I have ever seen, I mean even among great professional dancers.
Whitney Jensen is now 16(or 17???) years old and she's a student of Valentina Kozlova at Kozlova's Dance Academy in New York
we are learning this variation this summer, she is my inspiration! she is so strong and beautiful!
The applause were cut but wow that was just unbelievable!
OH MY GOD! She is amazing!! This is the first pre-professional dancer I have EVER seen who has been able to portray the swan-like arms and appearance. Her technique was out of this world, as well! And those pirouettes!!! AAAHHH!!!
She's perfect!
This audience is a damn!
Why not applaud?!
My God!
If I were to die in the audience applaud!
she is flawless and amazing! Plus i love her tutu its so... PRETTY! she's fabulous!
It's usually performed at the Bolshoi, as they have Grigorovitch's production of the ballet. On YT, I've seen Nina Ananiashvili and Alla Mikhalchenko perform it.
FANTASTIC!!!
i absolutely loved this, her wrists and arms are stunning
this is amazing WOW!!!!!!
that. was amazing. loveeeeeeee this. and btw, you can tell there is actually an applause- the noise is blocked out at the end, like it was in the beginning. BRAVO
she is AMAZING!!!! technical score 10!!!!!
She is, without doubt, the best Odile I have ever seen. She is so fierce and has such personality when she dances!
Holy shit. The minute she entered the stage, I was sold. She has such incredible control and fluidity.
Her turns are like nobody I've ever seen, she almost doesn't even appear to spot. She's a top! Love the Varna video too.
I just got to watch her dance at the Nutcracker tonight and she was amazing she looked like she did it so effortlessly she's amazing!!!
Wow, that was amazing. The style was right as Odile, and her technique just makes it even better. bravo!
OMG she made it look soo easy!!!
wow impeccable technique and artistic impression!
dear lord you own it love it
very good interpretation and nice technique...love the extension after each turn
I was watching it thinking "OH MY GOD!" already at her first moves. I'm so jelaous! :D
She is very very VERY good!!!
I don't think people realize how freaking difficult that first turning sequence is, and she did it perfectly with practically no effort!
This is definitely one of the best Black Swan variations that I’ve seen a student perform. Those turns were so lifted, she definitely could’ve gone onto more had it not been for the music! The ménage (excuse my spelling I take French but I’m not French 😂) was brilliant! Also, kinda forgot what the proper term for the jetés she did (again sorry about spelling) in the circle but that front leg was well over 90 degrees and that back leg got up there so fast! 😱
Thanks for your answer! :)
fantastic!
Everyone in the audience is probably in shock because that was so amazing!
Very VERY VERY GOOOOOOD!
You are beatifull!
A version of this variation (well, this music at least) is usually found in the pas de trois in Swan Lake; it's not generally performed by Odile or Odette.
so beautilfull
she is so freaking awesome!
@franamelia0 @ninachiquitina : They cut out the original sound for the TV show. They just put in the piece of music so they achieve a better sound for the audience at home =). You can hear that at 0:12 I'm pretty sure the live audience did applaud :D
Omg!!!! I just love her!!!!!
I think this is amazing. Not all can do this
woooow! you are a lovely dancer!
They are probably not applauding because it's a ballet competition, not a performance. Often the audience is asked not to applaud during competitions because it can be distracting. But Whitney is incredible!
her technique is what gets me. it is flawless . yes she can turn her legs get high but more importantly it's turned out its pointed at the ankle its her turns are spot un and cosistant . at one point she rolls off point( 1:01 to 1:02)in fourth position as she swivels from forth through second comes arounds to fourth position on the outher side then heels down tendu front present yourself to the audiance and developpe . LOVE IT . and then its her expresion/acting not to much buit just right muaa!
You ar an amazing dancer! Very well done.
omg she is perfect!!!!
When I heard she was from Utah, I automatically wondered if she was mormon. I did my research, turns out she is. I've been dancing for ten years now, and she's a true inspiration to me(:
@xXbealyXx Is why, thanks for enlighten me, is kind of impossible not even have applauded it.
WOW!!!!!
Okay soo ummm yea.... that was AMAZING!
@960ronbon4ever at 1:03 - 1:06 she developpes her leg up, this is an extension, her leg is nice and high
She's perfect!
Have a question: where can I find this variation inside the Swan Lake ballet? I've got a DVD about this ballet, but I didn't find it yet :( Please, help me! Thanks :)
I know that in some competitions the audience members are not allowed to clap for competitors. Also, this could be a closed competition with only the jury present and no audience members.
wow that was brilliant- how old is she?
molto molto molto brava complimenti
bellissimaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
che brava...
@yaymeIamanut I realized now, thanks!
They mute the applause in post-production.
OOMMMGGG!!!
@franamelia0 probably no applause because it's a competition and the audience shouldn't be taking any part.... I'd probably start applauding too though, she is terrific!
@jettkrash omg ur lucky i would love to meet her!
@AcemanJones ah, ok...sorry, didn't know. As long as I kept doing competitions (I'm european), clapping was forbidden :)
i dance, but i never got what people mean when they say. "nice extensions".
Can someone answer please?
They edited out the applause because it was made by the competition itself and they just wanted the variation isolated.
she was 14-15 years old she was very professional!
does anyone know why shes at Boston Ballet? I heard she was offered a soloist spot in Hungary or something. Don't get me wrong Boston is a great company it just seems that she can do better
shit man that was amazing!
@Za Wadsworth what you mean you dance with the Boston Ballet!
check out the jumps! how old is she
what is the leap at 1:35- 1:36 called?
you have to see her in real life she is even more amazing!!!!
you mean at the end?? i thought those were like calypsos?
The technique is quite well executed though not into the details like the manege de pique really turned in. Are the heels forward (turned out) an option for her? This looks to me like a caricature and I didn't see a swan at all! Keep working on what swanlake means!
well besides the coupes...we were just talking about the jump.... yea the prep for it is a low chaine turn, then i guess you could say its a jete...but i was just saying i thought the whole jump together was a calypso
@pointeplease95 yes
is she with boston ballet now?
@Sasi2010dance Nel terzo atto, la festa di fidanzamento del principe, quando presentano al cigno nero e lei fa un solo.
Why not applaud? It's in completely silence! I don't understand it! And the pirouettes were flawless without jumping
FIERCEEE
how old is she here ? :o
@anniebella15 I thought she was 16 years old in 2007...
I know her and dance with her company !
.......although calypsos are generally supposed to be done with the back leg in attitude.
holy...
@franamelia0 they edited it out probably
@dance4everballerina
they didn't clap because it's a competition
its supposed to be like that. its black swan!
🙂🙌🌸🌸🌸👏👏👏
Lol she's so good
@TheWorksCommittee like 15 or 16
probably they take the sound of applauses off
braaaaaaaaaaaaaavo
They are calypsos.. that's just not the technical term in ballet.
she could do an higher pase
awesome but needs a higher passe. thats all im saying
Why didnt any one clap after she finished? 😂
U deaf?? They obviously cheered at 2:00. ha.
hhmmm...i do ballet too but we call them calypsos...they only use the technical terms when someone is being taught how to do them for the first time.
really good but the hands/wrist/fingers were extremely distracting
