As an American, I don’t really listen to UK drill rap but thanks to Pete & Bas I’m more open to the idea

Is drill a British style of hip hop? I wasn’t even familiar with drill until I discovered these guys.
@@PockASqueeno Drill started in Chicago and evolved in the UK then it spun off and came back to Brooklyn, Ireland and Australia (particularly the style of beat. Go listen to chief keef, 67 and then Pop Smoke and you'll see how it changed). It's mostly real gangsters dissing, threatening and clowning their rivals. It's a bit more involved than gangster rap considering a lot of what they're referring to can be tied back to real world events and active cases.
That said, it can still produce some great music if you have some aggression you want to blow off. Musically, Pete and Bas are master level drill rappers and I don't know anything about their personal lives but I assume they are far from the profile of a real driller. If not I'm sure those days are long gone.
My personal drill recommendations would be (keep in mind I did not like most Chicago drill and took no interest in the sub-genre until it found it's way back to Brooklyn and then I saw what they were doing in the UK
New York: Pop Smoke - Sheff G - Rah Swish
UK: 67 - Unknown T - Dutchavelli
Australia - ONEFOUR - HP Boyz - NME (No Money Enterprise)
Chicago: King Von - FBG Duck - Anything produced by Young Chop
