Part 5 of my Ultimate Cybersecurity Lab Project! If you want to get hands on across networking, firewalls, cybersecurity, docker and containers then this is the perfect project for you! In this episode we build our Windows Server 2022 Domain controller, add DNS and DHCP, and build our Windows 10 workstation.
A great series, I'm learning a lot as this is what I'm doing for myself. One thing I have found is when setting up a windows based VM's after picking windows in the guest OS it offers to add a second cd drive check box "Add additional drive for VirtIO drivers" by checking this I can add the VirtIO disk here and I don't need to add it under hardware settings later.
For the ICMP traffic: there is an existing Inbound Rule called: File and Print Sharing (Echo Request - ICMPv4-in) that you can enable. You don't need to create a custom Firewall rule.
@@murdur8314 hopefully you already solved this, but for whatever reason I kept having to go reset my boot order in the vm options because the iso was 2nd in the boot order list
Hi Gerard, Great and helpful video. Would mind in the next video add the next settings for Security Onion, where configure it to receive alerts. Thank you.
@@gerardobrien basically about how all of these would work maybe in a real world environment, run some attacks or push telemetry , analyse logs ,create dashbords etc. Im looking forward to getting in as a cybersecurity analyst so im getting my hands dirty as much as i can . Thank you again for the time you take to create these.
wow this looks awesome I'm super new only watched 20 secs it popped up in my feed I'll have to watch whatever the first 1-4 episodes talks about and this looks like I could add to my portfolio for job interview. I'm in school for cybersecurity so bare with me as I prepare to take my 701 exam in end of May hopefully, in themmeantiem going to sub and come back.
Great serie, follow it since day one and everything was great, but with this part, from windows I can't access neither the pfsense nor the internet, ping respond from pfsense to DC and win10, from kali I can access the pfsense webgui, I saw you accessing pfsense from the DC, where could be my error? or we shouldn't have internet access from VLAN20? anything to look in pfsense?
You should have access to the firewall and Internet from vlan 20. Can you access the firewall from win10 machine? Did you sent the VLAN tag during the VM build?
@@gerardobrien Thanks for the time, Gerard, Yes, I sent the VLAN tag during VM build, I haven't access to internet neither win10 nor Win2k22, also I have not had access to internet when pfsense was the dhcp server, I compare vlans configuration and all are setup the same, I think the misconfig is in my pfsense

Thanks,Champ. I can't wait for the deep dive in all the services we've spun up together. Until the next episode. Cheers, Gerard.

Great time saver thanks for sharing! 😀

I love this series!! Im trying to get the windows dc up but cant seem to get it installed.. it wont boot from the dvd iso
Hey mate, have you matched up the vm config from whats in the video? Are you able to build the windows 10 vm?
@@gerardobrien hey Gerard, yeah I’ve matched it up. Haven’t tried windows 10. I’ll try that.

We'll be doing that soon!
Hi Gerard, loving the series so far. Will you be doing some sort of scenario simulations when the lab is completely built ?
Hey mate I've been thinking about, what types of things would you like to see?

What vm software are you using to build these vms? Thanks. great video.
Hey mate this is proxmox. If you check my videos there's a video on the entire proxmox build and setup 😄

cool series so far. but i do have a question, any reason why selecting e1000 network card instead of virtio nic for server 2k22?
Hey mate! I actually tried that first and it wouldn't work, I wasn't getting any network address. I'll give it another go and see if it works though 😀
Will you apply win10 hardening cis benchmark and same for server?
Eventually yes 😀
Hi Gerard, Great its juste my problem. j I also hope for tutorials on how to use them
Very helpful .. keep up
How many parts are remaining?
Id say another two will get the initial lab build finished, but I'll be going around each of the tools again 🙂
Hi Gerard, do you have a discord server running?
Hey mate, no I don't actually. I'm thinking about setting one up for the next lab series though 🙂
