  • ...And then there's this thing! It's nasally, uncomfortable to play, almost completely devoid of repertoire, and you MIGHT pull it out once every 2 years or so for a gig playing 3 bars of whole notes...but I love it...it's weird, like me!
    WE DOUBLIN'!!!
We're looking at the Alto clarinet today and why a young...or not...musician may want to procure one for themselves! It's a unique voice for sure!

From the instant I heard my first alto clarinet, it became my favorite clarinet. It has an extremely, in my opinion, classy sound. It's like the sound you'd come up with if you were to just imagine a classy woodwind sound.
As you said, it's sonorous. It sounds good in the high register, excellent in the mid register, and fantastic in the low. Such a unique, insistent sound.

Love playing the Alto, I play the Selmer Paris model. It's smaller and easier than the Bass or the Basset Horn for me (no thumb keys, size close enough to the Soprano... even if I consider the Basset Horn as a wonderfull instrument...). Still with a very interesting low register, and a unique voicing.

More professional alto clarinets like the Buffet Prestige isnt nasal at all but costs $15,000.

Maria Schneider’s “Walking By Flashlight” is very alto clarinet heavy.

Listening on Spotify now! Pretty tune! The alto sounds fantastic! Wish it was featured like this more often!

Greetings from Ukraine! Really cool demo and overall review. I'm a bit surprised why it has not so many likes, you are really energetic )
Also, I've been looking for alto Noblet (I play on soprano Noblet and it's great for it's money) and it's cool that I've found this one )

The Leblanc Paris Alto Clarinet has a significantly larger bore, so it doesn't sound nasal and has deeper lower notes. But it remains uncomfortable and it has its own challenges.

Thanks for the video, Albano! Really like the low-effort perspective on this, and you make a hell of a sound on that instrument!
One question I do have: have you ever checked out the David Hite mouthpiece? I believe they're designed specifically for the Alto Sax reeds, they've got a bigger chamber, and they're like half the price of a Vandoren - convincing pitch, but I'm not 100% certain I've heard anyone play one (granted, though, Matthew Banks vouched for it, and he seems to know what he's talking about 😅)

How does your Bundy sound compared to the "better" ones? I love mine (with a good French mouthpiece) but I have nothing finer to compare it to.

with a good french mpc{vandoren b44} it soulds almost as good as my best wood selmer and noblet. i find my self using the bundy more than the others. but am told the vito is even better@@windydankoff4020
